Meguiar's X2000 Water Magnet Drying Towel Meguiar's X2000 Water Magnet Drying Towel
Price : $8.99 $6.00

Average Customer Rating :

Editorial Review :

Meguiar's ultra plush Water Magnet absorbs up to two times the water of traditional terry towels to reduce drying time with less "wring-outs" and create a spot-free finish. The extra large 22" x 30" waffle textured towel is trimmed with premium satin edges to prevent scratching. The waffle texture also helps to lift and hold dirt helping to reduce swirl marks.

Customer Review :

Great Magnet Drying Towel

Two words: Quick, fast
It takes 3 minutes to dry my midsize sedan by using Maguiar's X2000 Magnet Drying Towel.

Not Bad and Does the Job

This towel is fair; however it does not compare with the Cobra Guzzler HD Waffle Weave Drying Towel available from autogeek[...]. It you want a towel that does with it says it will do, then this is the one. I can do my entire SUV with this one towel. There is none better that I know of and I have tried many different towels.

Rating :

Does NOT dry at all

I bought this "Drying" Towel thinking that it would be a great substitute for the old one I have. What a mistake I made. This towel does NOT dry at all. In fact, the more I tried to dry my car with it, the more it got wet. I would not recommend this product to anyone. I end up buying a chamois towel which proved to be 1000 times better.

Rating :

Works Well

This towel really can absorb a lot of water similar to a chamois, yet is easier to wring out. Using just one towel I had to wring it out numerous times to dry the entire car (water was really beaded up), and once wet it does leave a slight bit of moisture behind...not enough to spot though. Best thing, it doesn't leave any lint on the surface of the car like a terry towel. Only complaint is that it could be a bit larger.

Nice!

These are great cloths. So soft and they don't leave lint. I really like them a lot.

Rating :

Soft and big. Good for many purposes

Good for dusting and drying (washed car, cleaned floor, band instruments, etc). Dinner napkin size. Very nice.

Rating :

Great Value

These towels are of a good size. I would not want them to be larger unless I were going to do a vehicle. For general house use they work on every surface I tried. They are especially good for glass and other hard surfaces like the quartz counter tops and the glass stove top. They will save me their cost and then some because glass cleaner and other chemicals are not necessary. I will be ecstatic if they last. I have only washed them 2 or 3 times. Highly recommended.

Rating :

These are great

These are the handiest things. I use old dish rags for cleaning all the time but these are even better. Hold tons of water, very good size, just a good wipinng cloth for anything. Try them!

Rating :

Great microfiber towels to have around the house

We've used these for cleaning everything around the house: dusting, carpet stains, TVs, computer monitors, and glass tables.

Editorial Review :

Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 liquid is an ideal synthetic protectant for modern automobile finishes and clear coats. This formulation goes on and comes off easily without a powdery residue, leaving a deep, wet-look shine. It protects against UV damage, and eliminates fine scratches and swirls, providing a tough polymer bond for durable protection.

Customer Review :

Not as good as pure carnuba wax

This product is easy to apply and easy to wipe off. But, on black cars especially, it does not give a nice deep glossy or "wet look" shine. It leaves more of a streaky oily finish.

I switched over to yellow carnuba wax and the difference was night and day. I have a full bottle that I no longer use and it's just sitting in the garage collecting dust.

If you have a black car, and stick with carunba wax instead of synthetics. Meguiar's to make great products, but this one fails to impress.

I get a better shine off of Meguiar's cleaner wax than this NXT stuff.

But a friend introduced me to Mothers pure carnuba wax and I have since made a switch in brand. I mean the shine you get with this stuff is just insane.

Rating :

Long lasting and easy to apply

Really happy with this. Goes on easy, comes off easy, and the shine lasts and lasts. Its been over 7 months since the last application and water still beads up! Car is outside 24/7.

Rating :

Excellent Product

Product when out easy and buffed off easy. Left a great "like new" shine on my 6 year old truck. Not much buffing needed to get residue off. Highly recommended.

Nothing special

As I ran out of my usual waxes/polishes recently, I decided to use what I had left over from a friend. It was the "NXT generation syn wax." I will admit I am not a fan of the "big 2." Meguiar's nor Mothers as I personally have found they are the Mobil 1 of waxes. Very expensive and enticing advertising and standard ingredients. But I left myself with an open mind and gave it a shot. Mind you some of the car I used it on was already waxed with my prefered but now empty wax. Application and removal is standard and simple. Although the odor can be obnoxious to those who are sensitive to the cheap perfume/air freshener smell (FYI: It has that artificial blackberry/cranberry smell). The results are very standard wax. Shine is not easily categorized. Its neither glossy nor restore looking. It simply looks like a jush washed car look. But obviosly with a wax one wants a supreme shine or a restoritive look. It lasts a month or so and beads pretty well. Another pro is it attracts little dust. But for the price and hype it is not worth it. I don't use turtle wax's basic wax, but I have before and it towers over this in comparison in shine and length of time it lasts. It is simply a basic wax with basic results. I will not mention what waxes I use to again show that I have an open mind and never try to stray peope to things I think are great. But as I feared, it is just hype. P.S. Check the MSDS to see the ingredients. There is nothing special there as indicated by the "ooh-ahh" labeling.

Easy on, Easy off, great results

As a car detail specialist I've found that NXT wax 2.0 is a very reliable product. It is one of the two professional paint protectants that I use in my business. The other is Meguiar's synthetic sealant. Although found in many common auto shops, NXT wax provides professional results that pathetic turtle wax cant match. NXT wax is very easy to apply and remove by hand if you give it about 20 minutes to dry. It has very nice gloss and looks best on red cars (doesn't work too well with black cars b/c it smudges). It repels water very well and lasts quite a long time. A new coat is needed about every 3-4 months.

examples of cars coated with NXT wax 2.0 can be found at [...]

If you are a person who strives constantly to bring out your car's beauty, retain its value, and turn heads, you should give up half a day and try this... Wash, Clay Bar, most abrasive polish, medium abrasive polish, very fine polish, synthetic sealant, and lastly NXT wax. Polishing is basically liquid sandpaper and should be applied with a variable speed polisher. But don't even try using one if you don't have someone to teach you. You can take off your paint too easily and it would be risky.

The Absorber is NOT a leather chamois. Nor is it a terry cloth towel. But it's probably the best drying tool you'll ever discover. The Absorber is made of a unique material called PVA (Poly Vinyl Alcohol). The secret of the Absorber's power is it's amazing uniform, sponge-like pore structure throughout the product that enhances capillary action and gives the Absorber it’s super drying ability. Colors may vary.

Junk

I had used this to dry my car - basically all it did was make big water beads into smaller ones...**wring out**...make the smaller beads into even smaller beads...**wring out**...make the even smaller beads into streaks... I hope you get the point. It basically just pushes water around. I'm going to try the Meguiar system to dry cars. I guess the only redeeming quality of this product is that it dries to a wavy sheet of synthetic material, which is kind of cool to look at...

Not so impressed

I used this on my car the other day for the first time with excitement. I ended the clean with less enthusasism:(

I bought two with the hopes of using one in the house and one on the car. Will try two for the car on wash number two. Maybe that will make the job easier.

Also takes a few swipes to pick up the water. Need at least a second try. I detailed the clean with a nice towel "Meguiar's X2020 Supreme Shine Microfiber - Pack of 3" I bought two of these and should have just bought four sets in hindsight. They work as advertised and am impressed with the results. Easy to use and no streaks.

These special type of absorbents all give me difficulty and have yet to find the trick or the magic chamois or absorber. This was definately not it!

Rating :

Very Effective

If you use this product correctly, it can't be beat. Unroll it. and throw it out flat over the car's flat surfaces such as hood, roof, and trunk. It pulls the water right off. Much more effective than a $25 chamois which I used for years. The Absorber will not do windows, however. For that you will need the $25 chamois.

Rating :

Fantastic

This might sound bizarre, but I decided to buy this after taking my dog to a groomer and seeing that they used one to dry the dogs. I used to go through at least 2-3 towels each time I gave the little guy a bath, but this thing dries his fur effectively and efficiently, and still gently. I'm amazed.

Rating :

great addition to your car's toolbox, especially convertibles

For a convertible in the pacific northwest, this is almost a must have. I'd rather not leave the softtop wet after pulling into the garage. My Audi A4's softtop is not exactly small, so it takes at least 2 big towels to dry the top. This product not only makes it easy and quick, it's very easy to clean too. I need something that absorbs fast without any rubbing that wears the softtop protectant faster. Plus it works for drying the car in a self car wash.

Pros:
-Works better than a chamois in absorbing water.
-Does not produce streaks when drying autos. Spotfree!
-Cheaper than chamois

Cons:
-You have to store it moist in the canister or it will dry stiff as a cardboard. (Dip it on water and it is good to go again).

Dad's favourite Christmas gift

To be honest, I've never used or even seen this thing used. I gave this to my Dad as a Christmas gift and he was absolutely gushing about it all day. He hasn't used it either, but he is so taken by the rugged construction and clever design that he's already a raving fan. All the manly men of the family were suitably impressed and jealous. A cousin who is in the Navy says it looks and feels remarkably similar to the fire hoses they use on his submarine -- where they no doubt take firefighting very seriously. An uncle wanted to test it out rinsing the salt from his car, but the sub-zero New England weather halted that demonstration. Looking forward to hearing how it works when things warm up, but in the mean time I've earned favourite son status.

Great performance with Good Pressure

I like this nozzle! The concentrated stream is great for washing out muddy drains. The wider stream is good for washing down the driveway. The handle is comfortable, especially when it's 40 degrees and the water is colder. The threads are nicely tapered making it very easy to screw on and off the hose.

It does require good water pressure. I tried it on a smaller line at regulated house pressure and it was not so good. I have it connected to a valve with full line pressure and it works great. It works much better than the little brass twist nozzles.

Question : What are some basic things to know about car care?
I know about air filter change and oil change, but how to I know when to change my tires? Are there other things I can do to keep my car "healthy", and how often should I do these things?

Answer:
Changing the oil every 2000 miles. Keeping the air pressure up to mfg. lines. (should be on the side of the tire, somewhere near the rim) Hold a penny between thumb and finger with Lincoln's head at top. Insert top of penny in the tread of the tire. If you can see the margin of penny between the top of his head and the penny, it is time for new tires.

Question : Car care that is no harmful to the environment?
Many products used to keep our cars running smoothly and looking nice contain toxins that threaten the environment (more specifically, our water supplies) when not disposed of properly. What are some vehicle maintenance tips that are also eco-friendly?

Answer:
To keep your car clean and avoid the need for car washes you can park it in the garage or use a cloth cover. You can also use a duster daily instead of using a water car wash. There are some sprays you can use to wash without water as well. In general I don't wash my car often, maybe 2-3 times a year and I am lucky because I have a car wash that uses solar panels for power, biodegradable soaps and recycles it's own water. I also skip the fragrance. If you live in an area where you don't have to worry about freezing you can use vinegar and water in your windshield fluid reservoir. I have a Prius and had to make a choice when it came time to buy new tires. Toyota recommends the light 10K mile tires, but I didn't want to toss out a new set of tires every 18 months, so I sacrificed a few mpg and got the 50K mile tires. Keeping them properly inflated and rotated on a regular basis helps them last and gives me the best gas mileage. I take my car to the dealership for all maintenance and they recycle the oil and oil filters.
