Editorial Review :

Meguiar's Fiberglass Restoration System uses three specialized steps to effectively restore all fiberglass gelcoats. Oxidation Remover handles wear from oxidation, stains, and scratches, Polish restores brilliant gloss to the finish, and Pure Wax provides long-lasting, durable protection to the restored surface.

Customer Review :

Works great

We used the oxidation remover using elbow grease and really liked the results. The next day we went and bought a small inexpensive buffer (Turtle Wax brand @Wal-Mart for $20)and finished up some rough spots with the oxidation remover and the buffer. Now we wish we had the buffer from the get go! I did not care for the polish so I skipped that step and went straight for the wax, step 3 and loved the results. You will only get back as much as you give so be prepared to really work hard if you don't use a buffer.

Great Kit!

I bought this kit based upon the recommendations at [...] which is a forum that focuses on Bassboats. I recently purchased a 1994 Ranger bassboat that had some extensive oxidation. I was doubtful that this kit would work alone and I would eventually need to do some wet-sanding to get rid of the oxidation. Despite the gelcoat having oxidized away, it brought those areas to a bright sheen and shine. More importantly, the polish and wax provided a protective coating aginst UV rays, grime, and dirt. I would highly recommend boat owners with oxidation issues to give this kit a chance.

Oxidation is gone!

Three step system works like a charm. Elbow grease is required. Your results will reflect your efforts. Some areas needed more than one application of the first step. Take your time and don't get in a hurry. Steps 2 and 3 went much faster than step 1. Also, you need to keep shaking the deoxidizer bottle to keep the contents stirred up in order to get the best results. Always shake the bottles very well before using.

Casita restoration

The Casita is a 17 foot white fiberglass travel trailer that was purchased in march 2001. There was extensive oxidation resulting in a dull finish. After waxing a portion of the Casita I decided that it needed more than wax. A search of the internet lead me to the Meguiar system.

It takes a lot of rubbing on and rubbing off but the results are excellent. I spent 6 hours using the oxidation remover and a stain remover. Then another 4 hours applying the polish. The finishing wax was applied in 3 hours.

I highly recommend the restoration system.

Best window washer ever

The advertising for the Mr. Clean Auto Wash System missed its mark. While it is great for washing my car, its best use is in washing the house windows. In less than one hour the outside windows are clean and spotless--streak free, due to the soft water rinse cartridge. Hopefully I now have enough to last the rest of my life!

EXTINCT WATER FILTERS FOUND

These things are the best and most economical way to wash and dry your car spot free every time. Just follow the directions and it's like magic!!! I've used them for over 5 years now and have never had any problem. I wish they would be put back on the market!!! They usually cost about $5 a piece at Walmart back when they were available.

Customer Review :

Brilliant!

POR-15 Inc. makes many different coatings for various purposes. This kit includes 3 main components: a bottle of MarineClean, which dissolves the old gas, gunk, and varnish that accumulate on gas tanks that have been sitting for a long time; a bottle of MetalReady, which neutralizes existing rust in the tank (converting it to a phosphate); and a can of the POR-15 tank coating, which will finish the job and leave your gas tank looking just like new. The kit also included instructions, a piece of pinhole patch cloth, and a foam brush.

I used this kit on a 1982 Honda CM250C that had been sitting for over 20 years! The inside was absolutely horrendous with rust and gunk. When I got to the MetalReady step, I found out that the rust had eaten through the tank in some places, seams and pinholes, stuff like that. Fortunately, the kit came with a patch kit; a small piece of thin cloth, that when soaked in POR-15, became an impenetrable patch. Now the inside of my tank looks absolutely pristine, completely blemish-free and sealed. Now I gotta paint the outside of the tank so it looks as good as the inside!!

One note: be sure to wear latex gloves - They're not kidding when they say this sealer won't come off! I had a 'metal finger' for a couple weeks!

Bullet proof

Great product, so far. This is not an after work project, you will want to dedicate a whole day to do the job correctly. You will also want to paint the tank afterwards as it can get a little messy. Unfortunately my tank is powdercoated and I had to seal the tank after coating because I didn't know if the sealer would stand up to the oven now I have a few silver fingerprints on the tank. This stuff tracks like never-sieze but becomes permanent. All three products work as advertised. My tank sat since 1977 and now the inside looks as good as new. And of course dealing through Amazon, for me, has always gone smooth.

Good cleaning Kit

I think that this is indeed a good and complete car washing kit.
I got this for my birthday... (I love to detail my car) and yeah it comes with everything you might possibly need to make your car shine... The leather conditioner is one of the best conditioners I have ever used.
I gave it 4 stars because:
1.- The shampoo bottle is small... and I mean SMALL... it looks like a shampoo sample.
2.- ONE MICROFIBER? PUHLEASE! at least add 3.
3.- Clay does not come with a protective box like the one that comes with Turtle wax clay.

Mother's hardcore kit

I've got a boatload of high-end internet only detailing supplies so I didn't really need this kit. However, it was so well packaged together and priced well that I felt compelled to try it. I'm very pleased with the ease of use for all the products. In addition, the size of the spray bottles (24 oz) is very nice as they will last quite a while. Only the car wash is a little small. The wax and top coat go on and off as easy as anything I've tried and leave a very good finish. The tire shine product has just the right amount of gloss. The leather cleaner leaves might be just a little too slick for my taste but it's not bad. Overall, very pleased with the kit and as I stated, it is quite a bargain on Amazon considering the shipping was included in the price of $62.

Question : Will a performance suspension increase the value of my Civic?
I have a 95 Honda Civic DX Coupe with about 220,000 miles that is straight and clean and complete and has never been wrecked, one owner with a clean title. Also totally stock. I did a minor rebuild on the Engine 3 years and 40,000 miles ago.I am about to do a complete overhaul on the front suspension and probably the rear suspension. The steering rack is leaking and 1 CV boot is torn, and the tie rod boots are destroyed. Currently the front struts are original and the rear have over 100,000 miles on them too. At a minimum I am going to use an Energy Suspension Master Bushing kit, get a re manufactured rack, replace the upper and lower ball joints and all the tie rod parts, and install at least "better than OEM" shocks like low end KYBs or the Bilstein Touring on all 4 corners. I am considering doing Eibach spring / strut Pro-Package lowering kit and / or the Eibach front and rear sway bar kit. I'm leaning towards the sway bars at least, and debating on lowering since I don't really WANT to go lower, just want better handling. The car is a daily grocery getter and it's primarily my wife's car and she could care less. So, would an extra $300 to $500 for sport springs and shocks and $250 for sway bars actually increase the sale value of my Civic shell something somewhat close to the extra cost?Well I agree with the general principle that mods decrease resale value. But you also have to look at the specifics - we are talking about a 15 year old car with 220,000 miles on it and it is a compact. Also it is one of the 10 most popular cars for young people to "tune" or "pimp out" etc. Responsible adults aren't going to be buying this car regardless. It is also totally depreciated out at this point. It is a bit of an exception in the car world in that it isn't worth much less if it doesn't even run since 1/2 of the guys that want one plan to do a B18 or JDM swap. It is worth $800 to $900 just for the clean and complete shell with clean title. As is with the needed repairs it's worth ~$1,200 to $1,500. I'm planning to put nearly $2,000 of parts and tires into it and no way could I get that back if I sold it. My only question is if another $400 for extra trick coilovers would partly pay off in resale value.

Answer:
Generally speaking all add ons to the car will not increase its resale value thats why other people removes expensive accessories when they sell their cars. Even you explained it to the buyers, they might not think of it seriously. They still rely on the car's year model. In some occasion, if the buyer is a car lover, they will understand it and might think of it as an asset. Hope this help!

Question : Can I use automobile leather protection products on my leather sofa?
I bought a leather sofa, and now want to clean and protect it. The car care kits seem to be more economical than buying something from a furniture store. Do products made for automobile leather work for furniture leather? Is there a difference between the two upholsteries that prevent the products from being interchangable?

Answer:
Leather cleaners/protectants are good for leather! The auto industry products contain more "UV" protection for obvious reasons, and in smaller quantities, for smaller seats. I have used these products on my leather easy chair for a long time, and the only downside I have found, is it makes my chair a little 'slicker' than the fur nature store products.

Question : Restoration of a '87 El Camino?
My question/s will follow this explanation. I have a basic white '87 El Camino with minor rust spots and holes, Missing some chrome, Or having rust on rest of chrome chrome. It is stock white with a dark red interior. It is a v-6. it is completly road legal except for needing a muffler and a shock spring. My plans for it are to get the body fixed(the rust and rust holes), A muffler put on, Replace the spring unless the new lift kit takes care of it, The chrome redone, New matte black paint job, The interior cleaned and redone in black, A 3 inch lift kit with larger tires, And some engine tuning. I have a fair amount of cash to work with. I want to pay someone to do it, Without getting ripped off as I have absolutly no clue how to fix a car. Where should I start and how much will it cost, One end to the other?. Any other tips?

Answer:
The bad news is throwing a round number at your project isn't easy to do. I'd start with references from your friends and family. Word of mouth is the best solution. Another option would be to join a Yahoo Group (http://groups.yahoo.com) for auto restoration, maybe in your area, and they can give you a reference.I'd hit ebay for the parts you'll need (chrome, etc.).Also, rim's and tires are SUPER expensive from the auto parts stores that specialize in that stuff. I'd hit tirerack.com and put in your vehicle information, and see what rims are there. From there, go back to ebay and search for them. You'll find that on ebay the prices are like half compared to other manufacturers. The bad news is... once you start pulling parts off the car to do the restore, you might find all sorts of bad news... rusted other parts, or whatever.Good luck!

Thanks!

Answer:
I'll answer a long post with another long post.First of all, most of those vehicles seem like only fair deals. I'm currently looking for a car for a family member with a $5,000 budget, and many of these seem a little shaky. To break the list down a little bit, I'd say go for the Honda Civic (#7). It has the fewest miles and still doesn't cost too much. On the other hand, I haven't seen the car, so I don't know what kind of shape it's in.To make this a little easier, I would say set yourself some better standards. First off, I noticed all these cars are $4,000 or less, so I'm assuming your budget is $4,000. You can look for cars at this website:http://www.autotrader.comwhere you just have to limit your search to your price range and the distance you're willing to travel to look for a car. With a $4,000 budget, you should be able to find a vehicle with less than 100,000 miles on it. Your best bet would be a used compact or midsize, as they have a nice balance between gas mileage, power, and size. Look for one of these models from the late 1990s:- Compacts -Acura IntegraBMW 318Chevrolet CavalierDodge NeonFord EscortHonda CivicMazda ProtegeMercury TracerNissan SentraOldsmobile AchievaPontiac Grand AmPontiac SunfireSaturn SLSubaru ImprezaToyota CorollaVolkswagen GolfVolkswagen Jetta- Midsizes -Buick CenturyBuick RegalChevrolet LuminaChrysler CirrusDodge StratusFord ContourFord TaurusHonda AccordMazda 626Mazda MilleniaMercury MystiqueMercury SableMitsubishi GalantNissan AltimaNissan MaximaOldsmobile AleroOldsmobile IntrigueSubaru LegacyToyota CamryVolkswagen PassatI hope this has answered your question. Question : How much do you think this 2000 Mustang is worth?
Here is the listing details and pics."i have a 2000 ford mustang. blue in color, v6 & a automatic.it has light damage in the front bumper due to all of the holes & hills. The front bumper was cracked when i got the car & the pecies that are chiped were barely hanging then. Nothing that 80 dollars couldnt fix.it has 112xxx miles, very cheap on gas, runs & drives great. Never been wrecked, clear title, & ive never had a problem at all out of it other than the recent exhaust leak that it has, but its minor. all it needs is a gasket which is 10.00 at advance, ive checked just havent had time to get it fixed. Custom sun roof, body kit, pioneer CD player, light up gas and break peddals blue neon underglow, tinted windows, blue & black seat covers, blue and grey interior, 17" inch ultra spyder chrome rims with new good year tires & the factory rims with tires. New halo projector headlights not even three weeks old that have blue led lights around them. This car has been well taken care of, if it was up to me i would keep it! Right now i have two 12 inch audiobahns in it with a 1600 watt legacy amp that also has blue led lights, but i haven't made up my mind if I'm going to let it go with it or not (depends on how much i sale it for.) I have a aftermarket spoiler (thats in the picture) and the origional factory spoiler. A aftermarket grill thats on it now & the factory grill. clear tail lights & origional tail lights. Car is clean inside & out."Here are the pics that were listed.http://img110.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mustangtk4.jpghttp://img120.imageshack.us/img120/325 9/mustangny2.pngHow much do you think is a fair price for it. They are asking $5200 obo.lmao......FYI: its a car i'm looking to buy maybe. not mine.

Answer:
I do think it is a little high also. I have a 2003 mustang v6 with 102,000 miles, and I recently checked the Kelly Blue Book and it was around 5,000 dollars. You have more miles with minor damage. I would say 3,500 dollars should be a good price for that.

Question : Im thinking about buying a '95 mustang convert, how good is that year?
It is only a V6, id prefer a V8 GT, but ah well, V6 better on gas anyways...but its red with a white body kit. pretty good condition great interior. needs a paint job just because the body kit is a different color, but both have great clear coat. i know alot of mustang lovers prefer stock but i actual like the body kit, it looks hotttt.anywhoo, 5spd manual, alot of upgrades and add ons and whatnot. i know its been in storage and not daily driven for a while, but he started it for me and we took it for a ride it seems fine. (i dont know how to drive stick yet LOL!! so i have to learn with this car.) the car has 100k miles on it. he says hes taken very good care of it and done all the routine maintainance and whatnot. it also looks like hes taken pretty good care of it besides it badly needs a wash from sitting lol. clean and clear title. i dont know anybody in my area as i just moved here or i woulda brought somebody that knows alot about cars and manuals with me to check it out and make sure its okay, but i couldnt.i dont remember anything else right now. if theres anything else i need to ask him about or know about tell me, i might already have asked him idk.also is there an easy way to check the trannys on manuals? i have no idea how, i know what their supposed to look like to be in good condition, but dont know how to check.but hes asking 4000 with the system, but i have my own so he said he would bring it to 3000. he says hes only getting rid of it because he lost his job and cant keep up with it anymore, and is a family man now so has no need to keep it. i think its a really good price for what the car looks like. how long do fords last and is that a good year for a mustang? does it have alot of known problems or anything??im selling my acura integra (although i dont know why, it is an awesome car, just looking for something new and sportier/faster) and trying to get another car asap. im really in love with this car look wise. also has lambo doors (VERY HOTTTT)what is a good mechanical year for mustang then?

Answer:
I think it's great your buying American, used or new, but save your money or buy something else American. The gen of the stang your looking at is one of the worst to maintain, i dont care how good the guy said he took care of it, it does not mean you wont have to take care of it. also insurance is gonna rape you, sports car, 2 doors not 4, and its a convertable, if your gonna pay all that your better off buying new and getting your moneys worth. Also, its a 6, not an 8, not worth buying unless you plan on flipping it for the price, but considering the custom work, body kit/lambo doors, unmatching paint job, you wont get kelly or blue book for it unless you find someone that doesnt know what theyre buying. 3000 may sound like a deal, but remember, what u pay for is what u get and if hes selling it that cheap he doesnt need the money as much as he does space, and its prolly not in good shape internally. if you choose to buy it, plan on buying a new clutch as this one has 100k and will most likey go out soon. Also plan on buying or spending money to maintain the rag as 14 years of up and down it is worn out. Good sense also says if u dont know how to drive stick, dont buy one till u do. But I can't tell you what to do with your money, just plan on spending more once you have it, cause once you have a sports car like that youll want to spend money on it and when u cant you wont enjoy it.

Question : Mopar 318 rebuild questions?
Several questions. the first is, there's some very small rust pits on the inside of the third and fourth cylinders, maybe .005 or .007 deep. they're deep enough to feel, but honing didn't take care of them. if i got a .020 bore and a hone, can i still use the stock pistons and rings? (ones that are coming with the rebuild kit, of course, not going to reuse the old ones ^_^.)Also, looking at doing a roller cam conversion. What all goes into that? I'm aware of the new cam and roller lifters, but would I have to do anything on the top end, I.E. new/different valve springs, pushrods, etc?and one last question, any idea how much an acid bath costs? the engine is a bit dirty and the last guy to have the engine used water as coolant (engine came from a demo car), and i need to clean out the coolant journals. Also a deck mill to level the deck out, and probably a mill on the bottom side of the heads as well to keep it level.10 points to the best answer, let em roll! :Dmore info:Engine is 318 cid, from a 1988 plymouth gran fury police interceptor. i've got it torn down to the block alreadywhat parts of the engine can be reused?

Answer:
Eko,yes you need to bore the engine and go with the .020 pistons with the .020 bore And yes you can go roller, but you will need to go with heaver valve springs since a HYD. cam valve springs you could run into valve float problems. And as far as cleaning your blocks water rust you are almost on the right track, you need a shop that still is licensed to have the caustic dip in its tanks to clean the block, you dont want the hot water with chemical wash, that a lot of shops do now to stay EPA compliant. And if you want to get it all perfect, look in to extrude hone to see if they can do the job so your water passages are perfect. And the decking you are talking about is called square. The block is decked so that it is "square" to the center line of your crank shaft. And before you go to far I suggest you see if you can still get the 9th edition of the Mopar Engines and the Mopar Magnum engines booksIf you go to a dodge dealer that sales these or see if Amazon sales then you will be miles ahead.the part numbers for the books are P524970 and 4876668. Now I paid $25.00 for each book and well worth it, but it may be more now

Question : What do you think of my short story?
please let me know what you think of this story that i wrote, any feedback is great: The First Day OF Eternal Happiness by Justin A.K. GielfeldtOne day, Justin was walking down a path in the forest. It was a nice day out,, the birds were chirping, the wind was breezing and the sun was shining. He took the same route every day he walked. He would leave his car at the gate, then go through the entrance and up the path to the top of the hill. One day, while walking through the forest. He spotted a girl lying in a ditch. He could tell that she had not been there for long because the slight breeze had not yet blown away the skid marks she had made on the ground while falling. Justin had to roll over the lady, to see if she was alive. The moment he rolled her over he could not beleive his eyes, his heart skipped a beat at that very moment, this woman was beautiful. Justin tried everything he possibly could to have her come too, but she just could wake up. So Jusitn picked her up and carried her to his car. As he was carrying her down the path she started to move, and come to. Justin stopped and looked at her, and the moment she opened her eyes, she looked at him, and couldn't speak, she had felt the same thing that Jusitn had just a few moments earlier. "Thank-you." the lady said, as Justin was putting her to her feet. "Are you okay?" Justin replied. "I mean, you were.. you looked like..." he couldn't even finish his words he was so astounded by the beauty in her eyes. The woman put her hand upon her head then looked at her palm only to see a little bit of blood "Yeah I am fine, I guess I just tripped or something while I was jogging"Justin walked her back to his car to help clean up her scrape, as he was wiping down her forhead he asked "so... what is your name? if you don't mind me asking.." The girl looked at Justin and giggled a little bit. "My name is Amanda, whats yours?" Justin looked at her and replied "That is a beautiful name, my name is Justin, say, would you like to go out to dinner tonight? If you aren't busy of course.""Yeah I'd love to" Amanda said, smiling at Jusitn wile her eyes sparkled in the sun. "Okay cool, So uhm... whats your address and when should I pick you up?" He asked. Amanda wrote down her address and phone number on a piece of gauze that Justin had in his first-aid kit. "Pick me up around say seven?" She looked at Justin with a big gleeming smile. Justin looked somewhat nervous. "Alright, so yeah seven, cool i'll se you then." Justin watched Amanda get into her car and drive off as he waved to her he could notice the smile on her face. Later that night, Justin arived at Amanda's, and just as he was about to knock on the door, it opened. There stood Amanda more beautiful than he had seen earlier, in nothing but a comfy pair of jeans and a purple hoodie covering a black female tank-top. Justin was glad because he had dressed in the similar manner. "So do you have any plans on where to go?" Amanda asked as Justin was letting her into his car. He ran around his care and got in "Yeah I was thinkng of going to this little italiano restaraunt, I hope you like pasta" Amanda looked at him with a giant smile on her face and said "I love pasta!". During dinner, Justin and Amanda talked about many things, and came to realize that they had so much in common. They both liked the same music, grew up on the same television shows, loved that same movies, and had facination in the same styles of art. They were both dumbfounded but their emensley wide likings of the same things, that they both knew that there had to be something there. Something that just clicked between the two of them.As Justin pulled up to Amandas Home, he turned of the car and slowley turned to her and said "Okay, this might sound weird and maybe a little creepy. But, I just feel that we have a really big and good, connection, and I was wondering if you would want to go out with me?" Amanda looked at Justin with a blank face at first, so blank that Justin started to think that it was maybe a bad idea to ask her so soon. "I feel the same way, and yes I would love to go out with you Justin." She lent over to Justin and kissed him on the lips, as she pulled away, both of them looked into eachothers eyes and smiled. Amanda got out of the car, looked in the window, and said to Justin "Call me in the morning, okay?" Justin smiled as he looked at her and nodded "Yes, I will." he replied. As Amanda walked into her house, and Justin began to drive off, they both froze for a moment and came to the realization of how happy they were gogin to be with one another. They both knew that this was going to be the begining of the rest of their lives, bringing them eternal happiness with one another. The End
