Questions & Answers
Question : what is the best wax?
i have an mint 02 durango slt+ and i use turtle wax ice liquid polish and liquid clay and in like a couple weeks im planning on doing an complete car clean and iv been looking at meguiars nxt generation tech wax 2.0 and is this an good product? i want an wax tht will give the most shine but for like usally under 25bucks. i dont care if its hard to apply i just want her to look the best and also is the smooth surface clay kit the best u can buy? i dont rlly have any stuff stuck in my paint at all but i just LOVE how it makes the cars look like glass again i just want the car to look the absolutly best but for an half way decent price. here is an picture of my durango up close but its from an while agohttp://www.motortopia.com/album/view/p/cars/t/vehicle/v/15445/a/19941/i/the_new_apperance/po/23/p l/1 heres an nother pic http://www.motortopia.com/album/view/p/cars/t/vehicle/v/15445/a/19941/i/the_new_apperance/po/0/pl/th e car looks tht way because of how the sun was tht day but i cant complain! so if u know any other good products tell me PLZ!also should i use the deep crystal system paint cleaner? also should i use the deep crystal system polish? and wht is the best rim cleaner thts cheaper but cleans better, quicker, and gives an nice shine? all the products i mentained are from meguiarsTHANK U SOOOOO MUCH!sryy to bug u again but iv notice i have some mild swirl marks and at 1 spot a lil bit of tht HALO stuff and will the wax remover it or remove most of tht stuff or should i buy the swirlx product by meguiars? again thx sooo much!also how many coats of wax do u think i should apply 2 maybe? thx!
Answer:
If youve never used a real clay barand only the liquid stuffyoull be amazed at what a real clay bar will pull offTech wax is a good waxTwo coats is bestYou can also apply tech wax, then apply Their Gold class wax over it, some people like to do thatThe deep cyrstal paint cleaner is very very mild and has been discontinued. For light swirls, Meguiars swirlx, although depending how deep they are, and how hard your clear coat is, you may need to step it up to Ultimate compound. The DC polish is optional, specially since UC and Swirlx contain polishing oils in them. Youll notice more difference in darker colors, but wont hurt on lighter colors, and its pretty cheap anyways.Wax wont remove swirl marksits non-abrasiveit may hide light swirl marks/scratchesbut doesnt get rid of themAlso, guy belowyour suppose to wipe scratchx off after youre done working it in, y ou dont let it drythen you also actually remove the polishing oils from the scratchxwhy?thats what makes the car shine..

Question : Can I use automobile leather protection products on my leather sofa?
I bought a leather sofa, and now want to clean and protect it. The car care kits seem to be more economical than buying something from a furniture store. Do products made for automobile leather work for furniture leather? Is there a difference between the two upholsteries that prevent the products from being interchangable?
Answer:
Leather cleaners/protectants are good for leather! The auto industry products contain more "UV" protection for obvious reasons, and in smaller quantities, for smaller seats. I have used these products on my leather easy chair for a long time, and the only downside I have found, is it makes my chair a little 'slicker' than the fur nature store products.

Question : GSR or type R integ?
up guys, i need help choosing cars, i am currently 17 , working at a sushi bar for $16.50 pre hour (been putting in work over there for almost 2 years now) , and driving a F'D up 95 camery . I was wondering if i should buy a type R. But before you tell me that it isn't right for me to get a car that has so much potential in it at such a young age, let me tell u this. if i do get it im not changing a thing to it. Keeping it STOCK and the car's true beauty with it! I ain't goana put a tranformer body kit on it to make optimus prime or megatron jealous or some ish like that. I anit goana race that much either, i've seen too many people get kill over racing, and even if i was goana race, iama race in a legit and legal place. I want this car because its a eye catcher to any ricer on the road with a 93 civic and a F'D up muffler, and plus the ladies like guys with fast cars. The insurance is goana kill me but i dont care, im a good driver with a clean record and a GREAT JOB. If anything i would be fine with having a GSR, but leaning toward type R because of the LSD tranny. And i anit worried about thief cuz they goana taste my 9mm luger, plus iama have a kill switch with gps installed. So what you guys think i should do?
Answer:
WOW, when i read this i totally thought of myself when i was 17. At 17 i bought a 2 year old integra ls( 96 ls and it was the year 1998). No body was going to tell me i couldnt afford the 17 thousand dollars it was going to cost me after all the loans where said and done. Plus the insurance and up keep. So im not going to tell you that no matter how much money you think you have you can not afford it. Cause when i was your age i wanted it so i talked myself into the fact that i could afford it. So with that out of the way i think you picked a great car with ample power for someone as young as yourself. If I had to choose between the two the gsr and the type R and knowing i was going to leave it completly stock i would choose the type R. But just rest assured i gaurantee with in the 1st 5 months you own it your going to do something to give it your personal touch. It could be after market stero, HID head lights, Tinted windows. Before you know it your car is no where near stock. So with that in mind the money you could save by buying an ls you could easly put some nice rims, tint the windows, buy a nice set of HID's and turbo charge the car. You would get more horse power out of it and it wouldnt look over kill like all these ricers i see in honda tuner. So i know you want the gsr or the type r and wanna leave it stock but im telling you i was the same way and now i got a 96 integra that does low 12s sitting on 18 inch rims full bodykit clean paint job and turbo charged. So what ever you do is cool but just remember the moment you spend all that money on the car and in 4 years you see something you wanted and then cant afford.

Question : WHat kind of car detailing kit should i use for my 2007 dodge charger? It is a dark blue/black color?
I dont want to mess p the paint and get that dreaded swirl effect. The kit i am currently looking at is Meguiar's NXT Supreme Car Care Kit. I dont want the paint to fade like my last black car did. Thanks for the help
Answer:
very good choice going with meguiarsand it also sounds like you would be ordering these stuff from ADS (autodetailingsolutions.net) correct?swirl marks are caused basically by dirt/debris getting rubbed into the paintmajority of the times, thats during the car washing processhence why when you wash, you use two bucket method, grit guards, quality soap, etc.paint fading/clear coat failure,is caused by the sun, without having protection on the paintanywaysit is a good price/kitbut i also suggest adding a paint cleaner in theresuch as Meguiar's swirlxand Meguiars nxt 2.0 tech wax,is actually a paint sealant, and their longest lasting wax/sealant they makeso, good choiceany questions, email

Question : how can i clean the K & N air filter in my car? is it ok if it gets wet during a car engine wash?
I want to clean the K & N air filter in my car, its a 2007 Ford Ikon, probably unheard of outside India. Point being, none of the shops here have the air filter cleaning kit. Is there any home grown and effective way to take care of this? Also, is it alright if the filter gets wet while an engine wash is being done?
Answer:
Your engine's air filter should not get wet merely from going through a car wash, and it would dry out on it's own even if it did.Methinks perhaps thou art bullshitting us.

Question : Will a performance suspension increase the value of my Civic?
I have a 95 Honda Civic DX Coupe with about 220,000 miles that is straight and clean and complete and has never been wrecked, one owner with a clean title. Also totally stock. I did a minor rebuild on the Engine 3 years and 40,000 miles ago.I am about to do a complete overhaul on the front suspension and probably the rear suspension. The steering rack is leaking and 1 CV boot is torn, and the tie rod boots are destroyed. Currently the front struts are original and the rear have over 100,000 miles on them too. At a minimum I am going to use an Energy Suspension Master Bushing kit, get a re manufactured rack, replace the upper and lower ball joints and all the tie rod parts, and install at least "better than OEM" shocks like low end KYBs or the Bilstein Touring on all 4 corners. I am considering doing Eibach spring / strut Pro-Package lowering kit and / or the Eibach front and rear sway bar kit. I'm leaning towards the sway bars at least, and debating on lowering since I don't really WANT to go lower, just want better handling. The car is a daily grocery getter and it's primarily my wife's car and she could care less. So, would an extra $300 to $500 for sport springs and shocks and $250 for sway bars actually increase the sale value of my Civic shell something somewhat close to the extra cost?Well I agree with the general principle that mods decrease resale value. But you also have to look at the specifics - we are talking about a 15 year old car with 220,000 miles on it and it is a compact. Also it is one of the 10 most popular cars for young people to "tune" or "pimp out" etc. Responsible adults aren't going to be buying this car regardless. It is also totally depreciated out at this point. It is a bit of an exception in the car world in that it isn't worth much less if it doesn't even run since 1/2 of the guys that want one plan to do a B18 or JDM swap. It is worth $800 to $900 just for the clean and complete shell with clean title. As is with the needed repairs it's worth ~$1,200 to $1,500. I'm planning to put nearly $2,000 of parts and tires into it and no way could I get that back if I sold it. My only question is if another $400 for extra trick coilovers would partly pay off in resale value.
Answer:
Generally speaking all add ons to the car will not increase its resale value thats why other people removes expensive accessories when they sell their cars. Even you explained it to the buyers, they might not think of it seriously. They still rely on the car's year model. In some occasion, if the buyer is a car lover, they will understand it and might think of it as an asset. Hope this help!

Question : How do I best take care of my new car?
I just bought a gently used 2006 tiburon. I intend to vacuum it religiously, not smoke, eat or drink in it, and park it faaar away from other cars. Other than that, I'm completly lost. Do i need to wax it? how often? is hand washing really safer than automatic washes? what kits are out their for car cleaning that are relatively inexpensive? Also, can i put premium gas in it when i already have a half tank of regular? I'm hesitant to mix the two for some reason.
Answer:
You should definitely put a good coat of wax on it. It should last you a few months at a time, with regular washes, depending on the climate where you live... Dont worry about a "kit" for cleaning. Go to your regular auto parts store (AutoZone, Kragens, Napa, etc) and buy some car wash soap, a good wash mitt or sponge, a good Chamois (for drying) and the wax and stuff you need to do it yourself. Its not hard, just takes some time. If you care about your car, which obviously you do or else you wouldnt be asking, the reward and feeling of fulfillment when you spend a few hours doing it all yourself and seeing the ned result is worth much more than the time it took you to do it. Hand washing is always safer than automatic washes, however there are plenty of car washes nowadays that have hand wash/touchless systems which are generally pretty good.. If you are not lazy, do it yourself. As far as the gas goes, you can definitley mix the premium and regular. Quite honestly, that car will run just fine on regular. If you want to spoil your car every now and again, throw in some premium. If todays gas prices dont bother you, use premium all the time... Good luck with the new car!

Question : What do you think of my short story?
please let me know what you think of this story that i wrote, any feedback is great: The First Day OF Eternal Happiness by Justin A.K. GielfeldtOne day, Justin was walking down a path in the forest. It was a nice day out,, the birds were chirping, the wind was breezing and the sun was shining. He took the same route every day he walked. He would leave his car at the gate, then go through the entrance and up the path to the top of the hill. One day, while walking through the forest. He spotted a girl lying in a ditch. He could tell that she had not been there for long because the slight breeze had not yet blown away the skid marks she had made on the ground while falling. Justin had to roll over the lady, to see if she was alive. The moment he rolled her over he could not beleive his eyes, his heart skipped a beat at that very moment, this woman was beautiful. Justin tried everything he possibly could to have her come too, but she just could wake up. So Jusitn picked her up and carried her to his car. As he was carrying her down the path she started to move, and come to. Justin stopped and looked at her, and the moment she opened her eyes, she looked at him, and couldn't speak, she had felt the same thing that Jusitn had just a few moments earlier. "Thank-you." the lady said, as Justin was putting her to her feet. "Are you okay?" Justin replied. "I mean, you were.. you looked like..." he couldn't even finish his words he was so astounded by the beauty in her eyes. The woman put her hand upon her head then looked at her palm only to see a little bit of blood "Yeah I am fine, I guess I just tripped or something while I was jogging"Justin walked her back to his car to help clean up her scrape, as he was wiping down her forhead he asked "so... what is your name? if you don't mind me asking.." The girl looked at Justin and giggled a little bit. "My name is Amanda, whats yours?" Justin looked at her and replied "That is a beautiful name, my name is Justin, say, would you like to go out to dinner tonight? If you aren't busy of course.""Yeah I'd love to" Amanda said, smiling at Jusitn wile her eyes sparkled in the sun. "Okay cool, So uhm... whats your address and when should I pick you up?" He asked. Amanda wrote down her address and phone number on a piece of gauze that Justin had in his first-aid kit. "Pick me up around say seven?" She looked at Justin with a big gleeming smile. Justin looked somewhat nervous. "Alright, so yeah seven, cool i'll se you then." Justin watched Amanda get into her car and drive off as he waved to her he could notice the smile on her face. Later that night, Justin arived at Amanda's, and just as he was about to knock on the door, it opened. There stood Amanda more beautiful than he had seen earlier, in nothing but a comfy pair of jeans and a purple hoodie covering a black female tank-top. Justin was glad because he had dressed in the similar manner. "So do you have any plans on where to go?" Amanda asked as Justin was letting her into his car. He ran around his care and got in "Yeah I was thinkng of going to this little italiano restaraunt, I hope you like pasta" Amanda looked at him with a giant smile on her face and said "I love pasta!". During dinner, Justin and Amanda talked about many things, and came to realize that they had so much in common. They both liked the same music, grew up on the same television shows, loved that same movies, and had facination in the same styles of art. They were both dumbfounded but their emensley wide likings of the same things, that they both knew that there had to be something there. Something that just clicked between the two of them.As Justin pulled up to Amandas Home, he turned of the car and slowley turned to her and said "Okay, this might sound weird and maybe a little creepy. But, I just feel that we have a really big and good, connection, and I was wondering if you would want to go out with me?" Amanda looked at Justin with a blank face at first, so blank that Justin started to think that it was maybe a bad idea to ask her so soon. "I feel the same way, and yes I would love to go out with you Justin." She lent over to Justin and kissed him on the lips, as she pulled away, both of them looked into eachothers eyes and smiled. Amanda got out of the car, looked in the window, and said to Justin "Call me in the morning, okay?" Justin smiled as he looked at her and nodded "Yes, I will." he replied. As Amanda walked into her house, and Justin began to drive off, they both froze for a moment and came to the realization of how happy they were gogin to be with one another. They both knew that this was going to be the begining of the rest of their lives, bringing them eternal happiness with one another. The End

Thanks!
Answer:
I'll answer a long post with another long post.First of all, most of those vehicles seem like only fair deals. I'm currently looking for a car for a family member with a $5,000 budget, and many of these seem a little shaky. To break the list down a little bit, I'd say go for the Honda Civic (#7). It has the fewest miles and still doesn't cost too much. On the other hand, I haven't seen the car, so I don't know what kind of shape it's in.To make this a little easier, I would say set yourself some better standards. First off, I noticed all these cars are $4,000 or less, so I'm assuming your budget is $4,000. You can look for cars at this website:http://www.autotrader.comwhere you just have to limit your search to your price range and the distance you're willing to travel to look for a car. With a $4,000 budget, you should be able to find a vehicle with less than 100,000 miles on it. Your best bet would be a used compact or midsize, as they have a nice balance between gas mileage, power, and size.
