Editorial Review :

Traditionally auto manufacturers have been producing cars with composite headlamp units made from either polycarbonate or acrylic materials. While these elements are great for the design aspect, they have a tendency to deteriorate over time. Polycarbonate lenses can become cloudy and discolored due to oxidation caused by harmful UV rays, and become pitted by rocks, road salt, debris and sand. This pitting and cracking not only affects the appearance, but it also reduces the performance of your lights. XPEL film is designed to protect from all of these elements. In fact, it can actually help restore lights that are showing signs of wear from pitting. Acting like a wax, the adhesive fills in the surface defects, creating a shiny consistent surface while protecting from any further damage. XPEL Headlamp Protection Film is a patented, 30 mil (.030 inch) thick, high performance self adhesive PVC film with a scratch resistant polyurethane coating, designed to protect glass and polycarbonate lighting surfaces from the harmful effects of stone chips, abrasion and weathering. This film is exceptionally conformable when heated for ease of application over the most complex contours. XPEL Headlamp Protection Film is non-yellowing and offers environmental resistance as well as superior gloss retention and optical clarity. XPEL Headlamp Protection Film is laminated with a 3M high performance acrylic adhesive which has excellent adhesion on a broad range of surfaces.

Questions & Answers
Question : Is there a relatively easy/inexpensive way to repair a car's finish that's been scratched by a cat?
Or is having it professionally buffed the only way to take care of the damage? The cats aren't part of the question so please, no mean remarks.

Answer:
Go to an autozone or pepboys and buy a cheap rubbing compound and try that. If the scratch is to deep then it won't work, but rubbing compound is around $3-$5 so its worth a try, the only other thing would be to get your car detailed. But that's not cheap.

Question : What are the best ways to care for the finish on a black car?
What are the best ways to care for the finish on a black car?

Answer:
Same as any other finish, have it washed & waxed regularly.. scratches show up on black more than other paint colors. Small scratches can be buffed out but be careful where you go to have that done, a bad buffing job can easily ruin the clearcoat.

Question : The finish on my 2006 Scion tC is peeling at 41,000 miles. What are some solutions?
I bought this car used, but I've taken care of it. This finish is the worst of any car I've owned. It will chip at the slightest provocation. What should I do? Is repainting an option? Do I just have someone touch up the nicks and peels and then reseal with a clearcoat? Which is cheapest? More durable?

Answer:
Sounds like it was repainted at some point. The clearcoat is probably not sticking well. It will probably need to be repainted, at least the section of the car that is peeling.

Question : what is the cheapest car available?
im 17 and would like a car before i finish highschool. the problem is that i dont have time to work on schooldays because of homework. is it possible to save up enough money for a car in a summer job. at this point i dont care if the car is a rusted steel block with a bunch of dents in it , i just want a car.

Answer:
It should be 4-door, 4-cyls, not sporty. I would prefer Honda or Toyota... First time drivers usually have much more expensive car insurance, and it depends from car. You should compare insurance rates while choosing the car - for example here - carquotes.sinfree.net

Question : How do you fix car's leather seats that are showing wear?
I have beige leather seats in my car and the driver's side seat has little white cracks in the finish. Does that mean the seat is about to give out---or that it's just the finish that is wearing out. Is there some kind of creme I can use to make it look good again? Also, any tips on leather car seat care would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! The seat is not ripped. Please, serious answers only. Honestly, seat covers? Isn't there some kind of cream?

Answer:
Thesecan be fixed. If you are ion the UK call LTT on 01423 881027 who supply products for this to consumers and detailers/valeters. It is just the finsih that is wearing and this needs replacing, thhis is usually caused by the wrong or no leather care being done on the seat.

Question : For painting a car (covering it with peace signs, swirls), what type of paint will stand up to desert heat?
I want an inexpensive paint the won't crack or fade when the metal gets hot in the desert sun. What type should I get? Exterior house paint? I don't care if the finish is matte or shine. Also should I spray a clear coating on it after I'm done? If it's an old car with a matte surface do I really need primer?

Answer:
Why wouldn't you use car paint? You can buy lots of crazy colours in the automotive department, both in small spray cans and in touch-up bottles (that look like nail polish).Tremclad or some other rust-covering paint would work too, both in spray cans and small tins. You wouldn't need a finishing coat with either.House paint will just peel off... don't even bother.

Question : Today at a public park A Decalb County Sheriff askes to search my car. PLEASE HELP?
Today me and three friends of mine went to a river in Decalb County. It was a public park and we were not doing anything illegal. A Sheriff walks up to us and tells us that he is just checking on us and I needed to move my car out of the way of the entrance so they could patrol the park. Before i knew it there were three other police officers walking up to us. I was not worried because I was not doing anything wrong. So when were walking to move my car the sheriff asks me if it is okay for him to search my car for any illegal contraband. I said "Sir, I know what my rights, I do not have anything illegal in my car and you do not have permission to search my car." after i told him that he raised his voice and said "kid i can have a drug dog up here and Ill have your ass in my car before you know it" This spooked me and I said "okay search my car I dont care cause you wont find anything". I spent the next twenty minutes waiting on the cop to finish searching my car. so I just want to know if I did the right thing by saying that he was not aloud to search my car? I dont want trouble but I dont want people going through my stuff. especially for something small like just parking in the wrong place when there were no signs saying i couldnt park there. What should I have done?

Answer:
You should not have let them search your car. From what you stated here, they did not have the right to search your car at all. They scared you into giving them permission which was wrong on their part. Let them get a dog to smell the outside of your car. If you have nothing in the car, you don't have to worry. Sounds like the worst thing they had on you was a parking/traffic citation. That is not a reason to search your car. The only alternative to search your car is an "INVENTORY SEARCH". What they could have done is found a reason to arrest you, and then impound your vehicle for "Safekeeping". What they can do now is inventory your vehicle as well as your personal effects in your car for "Safekeeping". If they happen to find something illegal in the car, then they can charge you with it. As long as they have documented police procedures to impound and conduct an inventory of your personal effects in your vehicle, the police can do this. However, the police must also prove that they didn't arrest you SOLELY to search your car. Don't give them consent, but do not physically fight the officers. If they illegally search your car and find contraband in it, then it cannot be used against you. You can even civilly sue their police department and the police officers involved afterward. The street is not where you determine if a police officer is right or wrong. The courts are. Also, give short answers. Do not be ambiguous with your answers. "I am sorry officers, but you are not allowed to search my car." If they threaten you with a drug dog, tell them, "No disrespect officers, but you still do not have my permission to search my car". If they threaten you with jail, again, let them know that "Regardless of what you do to me, you do not have my permission to search my car". Do not be belligerent, combative, or angry. ALWAYS be polite but firm.PS- I saw someone on here stated the police can detain someone for 24 hours. The Supreme Courts have not actually dictated a time limit. However, it cannot be excessive and can only be long enough to conduct the investigation.

Question : Can I afford to buy a car from Carmax after finishing Army Basic/AIT?
I'm 18 and I have absolutely no credit. I'm leaving for Basic/AIT/Airborne School June 2nd and I'll be back sometime in November. I got a $10,000 bonus(My recruiter said to expect $7,000 after taxes) and plus I get paid while in Basic/AIT. I want to buy a car from Carmax for around $14,000 or less. I don't want to take any loans or anything. Is there away that I can pay like half the car's price in cash and then pay off the rest in monthly installments? I also have to buy my own insurance policy(I know for a fact that you can do that at Carmax the same day that you decide to buy a car from them). My sister is really sick and I need to be able to go see her and take care of her on weekends, so I really need a car. Is there any way I can get a car in this situation? Thanks!

Answer:
You will have another resourse available called MILES. It is especially for E-2's and above with no credit history. The interest rate is at 18.45%, but they will take you without a co-buyer. I use to hate the MILES Program but now after working in finance and have seen how some of these finance companies treat young soldiers, I feel pretty good about it. They also put stipulations on the Dealer about the vehicle they sell you, which is for your protection. So when you get to your permanent party duty station, find a dealer that has the MILES Program. Or go to usmiles.com and check them out.

Question : I have finished my nurse training and now work in a Private Health Care clinic, should i leave please advise?
i respect my parents wishes most of the time,my friends say i am spoilt because they would rather i just ran the Solarium they bought me but i want to do something with my life more worthwhile,i have a nice life on the whole, car ,scooter, care of my parents i must add,its as if they want to keep me a girl and around as long as possible,i am 23 ,my older sister lives off our parents but i want to provide for myself please advise xx

Answer:
Being a trained nurse in the private sector can lead to big money later on. You'll sure as hell never be out of work with a career like that.Or you can chuck your professional life away and turn the open/closed sign around twice a day, and ask people who want to be orange whether they would like to buy moisturiser...it's one thing to respect people's wishes, it's another to let them run your life.Do what you need to make yourself happy x
