Worked greated
I ordered this to help us get home from a family vacation where we were adding 3 people to our vehicle load. Although our 2007 Honda Odyssey does not have cross rails installed, this still worked just using the side rails. I simply criss-crossed the two middle straps around the center post of the side rail on each side. I did not use any additional straps and it worked just fine. I used some duct tape on the strap ends to hold them in place and it work perfectly. I heard very little wind noise and while it did hurt gas mileage a bit we still got 23+ MPG with 7 adults sized passengers and luggage.

sturdy , waterproof and takes the heat!
I purchased this carrier on the basis of past reviews here, and was not disappointed! We traveled almost 6000 miles with this carrier fully loaded- it never once leaked, and stood up to 105 degree temps too. the straps were easy to attach to our Ford Expeditions rack, and easy to adjust when we added or removed items to the pack. No issues at all until we drove home , and my husband forgot it was on top- tried to pull into the garage with 18" of loaded carrier on top! oops! the only damage was one strap ripped off- I plan to patch the hole and just lash the whole pack to the roof with a rope next trip- it was worth every penny! I also liked the fact that it was easy to take off and store during our trip- there were a few places we stayed for several days and it was nice to unload the whole bag, and fold up the carrier to take in for a few days so we could wash the truck, and not worry about the height going through drive throughs, etc. My in laws travelling with us had a hard top carrier on their van, and were kind of stuck with it, it was too big to remove at the hotels. great product!

Great product!
We used this rooftop carrier on a 3-week vacation from Indiana to the West Coast. We were very pleased with the size and quality of the carrier. We had no problems with water getting inside unless the zippers were left exposed in a hard rain. Also very pleased with the ease of access; had borrowed one last year and found it very time-consuming to get in and out of. This one was great. Would definitely recommend!

Great Bargain for a Great Bag
We bought this bag to use on a trip to Montana and Wyoming. At $49, it was hundreds of dollars cheaper than a Thule hard case, and we thought it was worth the risk. Turns out, this is a great bag. It was very easy to install, and it seems to be very durable. I had no problems whatsoever with this purchase, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Amazing Bag, No Roof Rack Necessary
We bought this bag as a way of increasing our ability to bring more items with us on our annual vacation to Hilton Head Island. My 2001 Ford Explorer SportTrak used to be big enough for the trip, but with the addition of our youngest son, it simply wasn't going to be possible anymore without some assistance. This Lund bag was exactly what the doctor ordered. We managed to fit all of the clothes for both boys (in soft duffel bags), all of my clothes (in an oversized duffel bag), 2 kites, 4 pairs of shoes, a Bumbo, a kids boogie board, several beach toys, a travel booster seat, a Little Einstein's floor activity mat, and even more in the bag. The amount of space that this bag provides is incredible.
The bag easily fits on the roof of my truck cab. I do not have the cross beams that constitute a roof rack; all I have are the designer rack pieces that run along the sides of the truck. It seems from reading many of the reviews on Amazon that most of the bags require the cross beams. This bag easily attaches without the beams. The hardware that is included allowed for connecting to the rack on my truck, although it also would have worked by attaching to the window jams if I had elected to do so. I definitely recommend using safety pins to tie down the straps; the noise that one would expect from nylon straps moving through the air at 80 mph can be minimized through the use of 4-6 safety pins.
My only complaint is that a small hole developed on the way down in the bag. We drove 75-82 miles per hour for much of the trip, which might have been overdoing it. As for the water resistance, in keeping with many of the reviews, we placed all of the bags of clothes in oversized garbage bags on the way down. We ran into a horrible storm while traveling to Hilton Head, and a small bit of moisture got into the bag but not through the garbage bags that we had placed the duffel bags into. Due to a better weather forecast, we didn't use the garbage bags on the way back home, and I am glad to report that the hole did not increase in size.
Overall, this is a great bag for the money. I am a little disappointed in the nickel-sized hole that developed, but I'm sure I can patch it. Given its price versus other options, I have no problem in recommending it as a purchase for others looking for a little more storage room for an annual or bi-annual vacation.

GREAT PRICE, sturdy, gets the job done
Very simply, the product holds up and is a great price. Drove up to 80 mph and had no issues. the only advice I can give is to make sure the entire product is full or at least the base has content. I left a corner empty and it caused a loud vibration at high speeds. I just moved a suitcase to the corner and sound went away. Then, you don't hear anything. I recommend this if you're looking for extra space but not interested in spending a lot.

Excellent value
We purchased this to stow items for a beach trip this summer. I was pleased with the size of this, it held everything I needed it to with room to spare (clothes for 6 people, folded up pack and play, beach toys, two beach cabanas, and a Bumbo seat). We were on the road for about 7 hours, and the bag held up great -- the straps are a bit long, so they hit the roof occasionally, but we got used to the noise after awhile.
I did make sure our clothes and belongings were in bags/waterproofed in the event of rain -- I didn't want to rely on the bag to keep our things dry. Luckily it only sprinkled once on the way home, so it wasn't an issue for us.
I spent a ton of time researching roof top carriers and was wary of purchasing this one because I thought it might be cheap. I'm glad I did though, it worked perfectly and will definitely be useful in the future.

Outstanding
This rooftop bag was awesome. We had a 300 mile beachtrip on 55-70 mph highways. Once I figured the proper direction to cinch down the 4 straps it worked like a charm. We fit all of our clothes for the entire family, entire trip. I used one extra tie down strap but really don't think it was necessary. This bag fit perfectly in the factory roof rack of our Isuzu Rodeo. I turned the bag around one turn 90 degrees from recommended mount and had no problems. The bag is solid and durable. I took along a small stool for ease of removing. Consider how nice it is for most places you check in to be able to put so much on one cart one, trip and just lay it on your hotel floor. No need to rush to unpack............The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because we had no rain. I can't judge on bad weather, but the liner combined with trashbags should be sufficient. What a bargain for this price. This bag allowed extra space to take along my son's bike which he loved riding on the VA. beach boardwalk.

Amazing
Lots of cargo space saving, we put 5 sleeping bags, 3 tents, 3 camping chairs and 3 mats, all on top of my SUV. Gas mileage drop a litle but over all was great.

Versatile, Practical, and Sturdy Bag
We needed more cargo space for a 3000 mile road trip with 2 adults and 4 small children. We didn't want to have to hassle with cargo on the roof of our large SUV (a 98 Ford Expedition) so we paired this bag up with a Valley 90590 Deluxe Hitch Mount Cargo Basket. The bag is 48" wide but still has greater capacity than the comparable 60" bag on Amazon (Lund 601006 Cargo Carrier Heavy Duty Storage Bag) due to a taller height and deeper depth. The adjustable height feature is also a nice bonus. Since the Valley 90590 is 60" wide we were able to add a plastic tote strapped in with bungees on the end - which worked fabulously to put items to be easily accessed. (see picture) It rained 12 out of the 14 days of our trip and the items inside stayed perfectly dry. The construction is very well made - the bag is very thick and sturdy and the straps more than adaquate. As another reviewer mentioned, the bag is a little stiff in colder weather, making it difficult to zip. I can also see the advantage of adding a homemade pvc pipe frame as other reviewers have done. The way the straps attach to the top of the bag are well reinforced, but it remains to be seen how well they will hold up under years of use. The bag did not show any signs of wear from this initial trip. We did not even use up the capacity of this bag and still fit in 2 suitcases, 1 duffel bag, a portable baby bed (similar to a pack-and-play), 2 large swim totes filled with swim gear, a folding booster seat with tray, our laundry in a large laundry bag, packs of diapers, and more! I see no reason why this bag could not also be used on a roof top carrier, but I have not yet tried it for this use. We will probably end up using it in our flatbed trailer and on camping trips as well. Fabulous product!

Cargo carrier cover
It's OK. The material is good and sturdy but the zippers are sometimes tough to open and close and the straps are a nuisance, we used bungi cords instead. Also If you can't close the zippers all the way for any reason the bag collects water when it rains and is difficult to take out to empty because you have too remove everything that is in the bag and in our case it is a generator. When I need to replace this I will do so with a simple tarp, I wouldn't buy it again.
Rating :
Very good value
This bag is excellent. It is very sturdy and very easy to attach securely to the hitch carrier. At first I did not think it was going to hold much, but as I packed it, more and more stuff kept going in. The first time I did not unzip the expansion zipper, but the second time a stuffed in even more stuff and opened the expander. I was impressed by how much stuff fit in there. I think it will give a long service life.

4-1/2 stars (out of 5), Bicycling Magazine. A Saris Bones rear rack is one of the few things in life that's both hard working and drop-dead gorgeous. Created by renowned italian designer Fabio Pedrini. The Bones rack gives you more than a stylish alternative to roof racks. It's a stable, secure ride. A system that mounts quickly to almost any vehicle make and model, from sedans to mini-vans-even when there's a rear spoiler involved. And that let's you save your energy for the road or trail.

Great purchase!
It's a great thing when you see a product you like in a store but you can find it on Amazon for much less! The seller offered free shipping and the delivery took MUCH less time then expected. The package was in great condition and everything was there. I have used my Bones several times and it's great. Thanks!

Fits on my MX-5 Miata!
I never thought I'd find a bike rack for my MX-5. A bike rack? For a two-seater convertible sportscar? Then I saw this on someone else's older Miata, a car even smaller than mine, and had to have it.
It goes on easy, snugs up tight, and the physics of the thing are just remarkable. I think the curves are what make it unshakable, even when I'm going...ahem...let's just say over the speed limit on the interstate.
Could not recommend this more highly.

Had a Couple Issues. Returned.
This is the 3rd 2-bike trunk-rack I've owned. My personal experiences aside, it's still very nice and very well made. My review involves a 2007 Camry Sedan. The construction is very solid. Leaps and bounds above the others I've owned. I like how the weight is distributed to the two-feet on the bumper. Most racks have the load smashing down on the top of your trunk. I didn't like the fact that this unit has side-straps. This is the first 2-Bike carrier I've owned that has side-straps. I found this annoying and just another step in the process. We need to be moving towards *less* straps. Another issue was that the distance between the two bikes cannot be adjusted. Even my old $40 Schwinn trunk rack allowed me to do that. I have two mountain bikes and they were all up in each others business on this rack. There was nothing I could do about it either because the spacing is fixed. It seems that these types of racks are geared towards the more-narrow road-bikes. Almost every video I see has road-bikes on them. Not two hulking mountain bikes. And here comes the deal breaker: the actual hooks. The hooks are very awkwardly designed and I had the most maddening time getting them to hook. The top ones were OK. The side ones took a lot of manipulating (Especially the driver-side for some reason). But the bottom ones...well that was it. They wouldn't slide under the trunk lid for anything. So I opened the trunk to hook them, and then the trunk wouldn't close. And I was smashing down pretty hard on the trunk, too. Too hard to be honest. I never got it to close. All the other racks I've had the hooks were no problem. They just slipped right into the cracks. So I've returned it, frustrated again. My conclusion is that I need to either get 2 road bikes, or just suck it up, get a trailer hitch, and get something like the Saris T-Rax.

Bike carrier
Mounting the rack on the vehicle is not an easy process. The rack is not designed for cars with plastic bumpers. The thumb screws that tighten the legs & arms are made of cheap black plastic and can easily be stripped. The Saris Bones 805-2-Bike Trunk Mount Rack is poorly designed.
May I suggest you go out and purchase a Thule bike carier, or hitch mount carrier by Thule. You get what you pay for...
Rating :
Great Rack
First things first, the only reason the rack gets 4 stars is because it scratches the clear coat on the trunk. I understand that this design will have movement since it's secured by the straps, but I am sure it's possible to develop footings from softer material. This model comes with rubber footings. It's not a major complaint, since it's hard to notice clear coat scratches, none the less scratches are there.
I've been using this rack for 2 years now. I have 2 Rockhopper mountain bikes and usually transport them on summer weekends. Regular trip is 120 miles each way. I never had to stop and retighten the straps or do any kind of maintenance on the rack. The installation takes around 15 minutes, mainly because straps are very long and you have to secure the extra slack (wrap it around the main line several times) so it would not dangle on the wind. At first you might be a bit cautions when transport bikes, because they do move on potholes and such, but after few trips the confidence will grow. I like the fact that you can always see the bikes in rear mirror to make sure they are still there. I believe the manufacturer recommends to stay under 75mph when you transport the bikes, but I can say they hold up great even when you go over that speed for sustained periods of time. I live in small apartment and the rack is really compact. Once you take it off, all arms can be untightened and put parallel to each other to save space.
Overall great product.
PROS: Easy to install Very sturdy and compact when stored
CONS: Rubber footings scratch the clear coat on car Long straps dangle on wind if not secured No strap to keep 2nd bike's front wheel from spinning/moving (fixed by piece of rope)

Lies, Lies, Lies
no doubt this is the WORST purchase i have ever made. the picture is a lie. the picture is of parachute cord (what i thought i was buying), it's not. it's the kind of rope that borders the shallow end of the pool. oh yeah, and it's canary yellow. this is false advertising. it's both reprehensible and insulting. wth?
Rating :
Good deal
Its rope. Not much to review but it does what it is supposed to do. Great price on amazon.

parachute cord
As those praising this product have noted, it has many many uses. But don't think you're going climbing with this. It's parachute cord, not rope. It's great for tying stuff down, suspending a shelter or a backpack. It's very light weight and easily stowed. But it is not rope in the heavier duty sense. You cannot get a grip on it for any of the purposes you might imagine rope being used for.
Rating :
It's a good rope
I was actually looking for some military paracord but, got his by accident. It works well enough but, does not have the smaller strands inside like paracord. Instead, it has a loose braided rope inside. I have not used it for any strength demanding tasks but, it works fine for light duty work.
Rating :
not military style 550 cord
This is 5mmx50feet. This is NOT "para cord" or "550 cord". it does not even have the white guts in it. If all your looking for is nylon rope this will work. Just don't buy it if you what the real stuff.

Question : What accessories should I get for my Chevy Cobalt LS?
It is a 2006 model, and I was wondering what I should get. Like either for the exterior, interior, or even under the hood to boost its performance. Thanks
Answer:
To increase performance on a Cobalt, may I suggest a heavy-duty rubber band, just a little kidding from a Yankee fan. Not much you can do on that level since your car was designed for economy and the computer will try to defeat your best efforts. A high performance air filter might help a little but it is probably not worth the expense. Interior and exterior is where I would put my money to customize it. You could even do a Red Sox theme. The car won't have a lot of resale value so you won't be hurting anything by personalizing it. Good Luck!
