Editorial Review :
Sylvania SilverStar Ultra High Performance Halogen Headlight is fashioned for brighter and whiter light. It has dual filament for both high beam and low beam. This operates with internal gas pressure which significantly reduces the rate of tungsten evaporation. Its analogous non-halogen incandescent lamp operates the same filament temperature with greater luminance and efficiency. This combined effect of higher pressure and the halogen cycle give halogen lamp much longer life.

Good lights, but burn out like clockwork
These lights really enhance visibility over standard headlight bulbs, but they are virtually guaranteed to burn out quickly. It even tells you that on the box. One of the two just burned out less than a month after the 12-month guarantee period Sylvania claims on the box, and that's with under 6000 miles of driving. That said, I'm either going to buy them again and suck up the fact that they will have to be replaced every year, or I will look into an HID conversion. I can't wait until LED is good enough for headlights.
Bottom line, I think it's crazy not to have this kind of visibility at night, even if it costs $30/year. And please DO get Sylvania to replace your bulbs if either one burns out sooner! I've done it before, and it usually takes just a phone call or email.

Better Than Stock - Worth it for me
These bulbs have a brighter, whiter light to them with a mild bluish tint. I think they made an overall improvement in my headlights. You don't necessarily see farther with them but what you do see is clearer. Road signs seem to shine at a farther distance and animal eyes seem to stand out more if you encounter them, even wet roads are a little easier to see on. They did not last a long time for me (around a year for low beam, highs are still working) but I would have no qualms about buying them again. I bought both high and low beams and are happy with both.

Doesn't fit 2002 Chevy Tahoe
I double check the references on here and it does not fit a 2002 Chevy Tahoe as it claims to. the socket is similar but the plugs are not. Package has been returned.

Not long lasting, but extra light is worth it
I live in a rural state, where many areas don't have good lighting. These lights are a lot brighter than my OEM Silverado bulbs. The only issues is that they don't last long, as many other state. I think that's a decent trade off, for how much light they throw off, though.
I don't drive my truck too much at night, but when I do, I can trust these lights to guide my way, and light up the road well. I'd recommend these, but know that they don't last as long as the OE bulbs.

Great bulb
The silverstar ultra bulbs are very bright. I put them on my 83 yr old fathers suburban for added saftey. You will notice a big difference from stock bulb. The price on amazon was 2 bulb pack for about the price of 1 bulb from local parts store. Only 4 stars due to reduced bulb life...they won't last as long. You may want to carry a spare bulb in vehicle if you do a lot of night driving.

Editorial Review :
SilverStar ULTRA headlights provide up to 25% increased down-road visibility as compared to the regular SilverStar, increased side road visibility, and up to a 20% brighter light as compared to standard halogen headlights. They also last up to 30% longer than regular SilverStar headlights. The pure, white light emitted by the SilverStar ULTRA is closer to the color of daylight, which helps drivers see better at night.

Great bulbs
I installed these in a 2010 RX, DRLs couldn't notice the difference, but when using highbeams, it is much brighter. Cheaper than any autostore and great product!

works so far
I have only used it for three weeks so i cannot talk about how long it'll last, but it is brighter than stock light.

Very Good Lights!
These lights are great! They are bright compared to the stock lights! I purchased these for an 2005 GMC Canyon. I wanted something that has a bright white light and these are Great for the money. Only time will tell how long they last, but I have had mine for 2 months now. You can't go wrong with these! They are fairly cheap and worth the money. You won't be dissapointed! Eventually, I plan on getting HID Headlights which are much, much better, last longer and VERY VERY BRIGHT! But for now these will be fine.

I read a few reviews that said these were no brighter than peoples stock lights. They were much brighter than my stock lights. So much so that my night vision has improves so I don't drive off the road or get pulled over because the police think I'm drunk.

Good product but not as far beam as expected.
When i saw these headlights on TV i decided to give them a try. The night that i got them i went for a night drive they were good but the problem is there only 30% brighter and were just awful in the rain. I have since switched to an HID kit and wow the kit is alot brighter whider and farther than the silverstaars imo. If you really want brighter whiter light then buy an HID kit it may be expensive but in the long run it lasts longer and is brighter and whiter. In other words get an HID kit.

Very satisfied
I am most satified with the outcome of this product as it has significantly improved visibilty with my night time driving as I have a 10 year old car with original parts and with age the headlight lens have turned hazy and instead of replacing the entire fixture I decided to have the headlight bulbs replaced with Sylvania Silver Star Ultra High Performance Halogen the improvement is definitely noticeable.
Rating :
Decent
These headlights look nice, and increase visibility as they say. If you're looking for a superbright bulb, these aren't what they seem to be. They have a pure-white look, which looks nice. Overall 4/5
Rating :
Not really such a bright idea
I got these bulbs so I could see better on dark roads with a whiter light. It says 50% brighter and etc. I didn't notice a whole lot of difference and paid a lot more to switch over. Here is the kicker that did not display in the ad online. On the back it says because they burn brighter they last only about a year as compared to regular bulbs that last 8 to 10 years.
Rating :
They pretty much work...
...as advertised. I'm over 65 and my night vision isn't what it used to be. I replaced the stock bulbs in my '03 Mustang Mach 1 a couple of months ago. The first time I drove at night, I could see a definite difference; my lights lit up the road more brightly, both farther ahead and to the sides. These lamps made a positive difference - not dramatic, but definite. Some people say that your headlights get dimmer as they age, but I don't believe the whole difference was due to aging of the old stock lamps - at least not entirely. To be honest, I had my doubts about the value of these lamps, but I'm glad I sprung for them now.

Great lights, short life
The light output is great compared to the OEM bulbs in my 2006 Subaru WRX. The one problem I have is that this will be my 3rd set of bulbs in as many years. When the last set failed they both went at the same time and I had to drive home with the brights on for an hour. This time only one went but I replaced both at the same time as recommended. As you can tell I think they are worth the money and effort or I wouldn't be buying a 3rd set. I'm not sure where the "long life" claim comes from in the Amazon ad but that is the only thing keeping me from rating them 5 stars. Depending on the location of your bulbs, and the difficulty of replacing them, you might want to consider a "lower maintenance" (longer lasting) bulb unless you enjoy working on car as I do.
Rating :
It is brighter
I am not sure if it is lasting or not, but it is, indeed, brighter. My wife's Lexus ES300 stock head light was really dim. It was like no head light turned on before. After I changed this H7 light bulbs, I could see the different already. Some reviews said it was no different. I have a feeling it really depends on the settings of the head light. The ES300 has a cap in front of the bulb, so it may not be as bright as the other cars. Overall, I still like it. Also, amazon's price is better. I paid $56 in a local store.
Rating :
Good high-output bulbs that produce a great beam
These bulbs do a good job of pumping up the light output on my Mercedes, over the stock bulbs. I have already replaced one after about a year of use. I guess the one year life should not be a surprise, considering they get that higher light output by drawing more current. Generally .... more candlepower, shorter life. There is no free lunch. I will probably buy them again when the next one dies.

Gone in a bright flash
I switched from the OEM lights in my Saab 2.0t as I wanted something a bit brighter to light up the road and paid almost $50 for this two-pack. I have to say they did light up the road pretty well but for only 4 months and then 1 of them blew.
I went back to the auto parts store today to buy 1 replacement and they indicated that these bulbs are only sold in two-packs, the clerk also indicated that they have short life and that people who buy them come in every few months for replacements.
This is not for me. I want my headlights to just work and I don't want the hassle of changing bulbs every few months.
Bottom Line: I don't recommend these and will move back to OEM bulbs.
Rating :
A+++ VISIBILITY
First off, I just read through most of the reviews for this product and was very disappointed with what I saw. I have used these bulbs before, replacing OEM 9007 fittings and the improvement was phenomenal! I used the Silverstar Ultras for over a year before selling my car without needing to replace bulbs again and the increased visibility is worth every penny for what these cost.
If you price check this product it's $50 at any auto retail store Autozone/Checker.
Proper Installation: I'm not sure whether or not those other people who gave bad reviews for reliability/life of the bulb installed them properly. If ANY dirt or oil from your hands gets on the bulbs while you install them, kiss them goodbye and just buy new ones. These bulbs burn much hotter than OEM bulbs and proper installation is CRUCIAL. To make it easier, just buy the $2 installation kit at Autozone/Checker auto parts stores and it will come with bulb grease to ensure good electrical contact and a pair of gloves to protect the bulbs from your hands.

Great headlights!
These headlights are the best! Everything on the road is lit up with white light, not crappy orange tinted light. Would definitely recommend these. Much brighter than stock bulbs. Don't know about the life expectancy on them yet though.

Good, but there are better for cheaper
These were not as bright or white as previous reviewers or product description would have lead me to believe, at least in my opinion. Sylvania's higher end bulbs do not last very long in my Hondas either. I was very happy with my old PAII bulbs as they had a very white light, close to HID. These look yellow in comparison, but they are somewhat bright and a little more white than stock. For the list price, these are a rip, but at this discount, OK deal, but not great. There are many other high quality bulbs that are as bright yet much more white. OK, but I wouldn't buy again.

Silverstar ultra
These light bulbs are a great improvement over the OEM bulbs, except for their life span. I know it is to be expected due to the increased heat they put out, but with todays technology, I would like them to last a little longer than they do. But if you drive a lot in the dark like I do, then it is a good trade-off. Have bought them in the past, and will continue to buy them.

short life span
Purchased the Ultra my 2000 Toyota Sienna. Thought it was a good deal since Sylvania was offering rebate. I wanted to increase the old Sienna's headlight output. After installation, the light output became little brighter and the color is "whiter" versus "yellow" on the original. But as noted by many, both bulbs burnt out in 11-12 months (I work on aircraft and know about "greasing" the contact and wore gloves as to keep the the glass clean). It's too expensive and not worth the trade off. Also Sylvania's rebate appears to be a scam, I never received.

Very Bright on my 99 Civic EX
These light's are amazing. Very Bright! A big difference from the stock headlights. Hopefully they last more than a few months. I'll update my review as soon as one of the bulbs die.

Question : how to get my leds to turn on when my amp turns on?
I am setting up an audio system in my car. This consists of building a custom trunk floor and amp rack. I would like to add some led strips for ambient lighting underneath the floor. My question is, how do I get the leds to power on when the amp turns on, or when i turn the ignition to accessory? Could I use the remote turn on wire for the amp, you know, the little blue one that comes from the head-unit to the amp to let it know the ignition is on.Thanks

Question : Car sound system installation costs?
I have a 1983 Jaguar XJ6 and I bought many accessories for the sound system and I want to go to a car audio place so they can connect everything. I have 4 subwoofers, 1 amp, 4 speakers, headrest tvs, sunvisor tvs, and in dash tv, underbody neon lights, trunk hush mat kit, how much would it cost (approximately)? And about how long should it take to get it all done?
Answer:
I just did the calculation on what my store charges and you are looking at $850. and that is on the low side. to get all of that done you are looking at 2 days at least for a quality job, and that is if the person working on it is not working on any other cars.

Question : I have 4 gauge wire running to my trunk...?
Ok.. i have 4 gauge wire going to my trunk to power my amplifier. I want to get power to my neon lights and other accessories. How can I split the 4 gauge wire i have and have one go to my amp for my speakers and one going to such as a ciggerite lighter? Basically is there something out there that can break down 4 gauge wire to 16 gauge wire? how do i do it?
Answer:
It is better to run a new wire and put the appropriate fuse on it. You can tap into the 4 gauge or slip an extra wire in at a distribution block, but be sure to put a fuse on it. The 4 gauge wire can have up to a 150 amp fuse on it. 12-16 gauge wire will melt before it blows a 150 amp fuse.

Question : How do I revive the accesory lights on my 98 Grand marquis after trying to install the remote line for an amp?
First I tried wiring the remote line of an amp into the blue and white line coming out of the cigarette lighter high up on the dash by my cupholder. It worked but the amp stayed on when the car was off so i cut the line. Since cutting the remote line (and leaving the origianl wiring in tact), the cigarette lighter stopped working.Next I tried wiring the remote line into the Red wire connecting to the cigarette lighter underneath the dash. The amp never powered on, nor did anything connected to that cigarette lighter, nor did my clock, nor did by heater or fan.......Removing the remote line from this red wire didn't get my clock and accessories back. I noticed that a 15amp fuse had blown, which i replaced but still no dice. Are there any other fuses to check? Help, Please!
Answer:
You probably have a short somewhere. Go back to each wire you touched, make sure it is properly connected, and use electrical tape to make sure there are no bare spots that will short out. Then double check all your fuses, including the one you alreay replaced.

Question : What accessories should I add to my 2010 Nissan Xterra?
I bought the Nissan Xterra (model X) in black. This week, I'm adding: leather seats, navigation, step rails, fog lights, body moldings, retractable cargo cover, and a more sensitive alarm system.I still want to add: lojack, headrest tv screens, window tinting, an amp/sub, custom license plates, black rims, rhinestone license plate frames and rhinestone lettering (that will spell out my cars name "audrey" on the front). What other accessories should I add?I was thinking of adding a cherry wood dash trim but I'm still not sure about it.- Okay... so, my car doesn't need a purse. Thanks.- I'm not thinking of adding lifts because I'm going for a more luxurious look and feel.- The custom stickers is a nice idea... but again, I'm going for a more luxurious look and feel.Haha... I'm not rich. I'm a full-time student and I work part-time from home. I've just been saving to work on my car for a long time... then I decided to buy a new car and use that savings toward the new car instead. But I do like your idea about the striping... do you have any websites that I can look at to see a few good examples?
Answer:
as for me i would find someone who does PIN striping and let him or her go crazy with it. its obvious u have plenty of money. let hime do the wheels and interior also. these ppl r great artist. u could do some airbrushing also. i would most definiately do the dash, that would b awesome. u may also look into LED light strips to go alog the edges of the roof on the interior and maybe the floor. xterras r the bomb.

Question : I need to hook up a 2400 watt amp to power my subs?
But I already have a lot of power coming from my car battery to power up accessory lights. Should I hook up a second car battery to the alternator and use that to power my subs? And if I do hook up a second battery will that allow me to power my subs when the cars off, and still keep my main car battery charged?
Answer:
If you already draw a lot of power for your lights and you want to hook up a 2400 watt amp, a second battery would be a good idea. And consider that the same thing charging the main battery (the alternator) would also be charging secondary battery. It's a bad idea to bump subs with your engine shut off unless you want to kill your battery(s). So before you go to buy a second battery, make sure your alternator could handle the job of powering a 100Amp+ pull of a 2400watt amp and whatever amperage your lights would pull on top of regular car functions like headlights and windshield wipers. You may need to upgrade your alternator.Whatever you do, don't get tricked into buying a capacitor, they're useless.

Question : can u run accessory lighting off a capacitor as power source?
i have numerous accessory neon lighting on my car and just recently installed a 2 farad capacitor in for my system... i was wondering if i could run the power wire to the positive terminal on my capacitor to eliminate going thru the fire wall as it is a pain staking task to get thru my firewall. i have all my wires run thru my door jam which i know is not wise but its only temporary til i figure somethin else out. also i wanna prevent as much drain directly from the battery as possible hence why i was wondering if i could run the positives from all my accessories to the positive opn my capacitor as a power source without interupting any quality from my stereo systems sound. i only need bout .5-1 farads to run my system as im running only a 700watt rockford amp and two ten JL audio subs on it. or would it be wiser to just throw in a second battery in my back next to my subs and run all my accessories directly off that and just recharge that when it goes dead?

Question : my sub turns off when amp or volume is turned up, but no overheat! now what?
I have a 12 inch audiobahn sub 1100 watt powered with a Alpine 500 watt rms mono amplifier. when i turn on the car, amp light turns on and everything looks good to go. with slightest bass turned up and volume up, sub turns off as if amp was in protection mode. i chek to see if it is hot, and its still room temp. lights do dim when in accessory mode, and when volume is up alot car shuts off. I dont expect the sub to kick like crazy with a mid power amp, but this is a brand new amp and my bass is terrible. What should i do?

Question : Slightly over the amp limit for an electrical switch? Will something bad happen?
Okay, so in my car I am going to hook up a light, problem is the only switch I can connect it to is going to be 6-8 amps over the power limit that the manufacturer suggests. The important thing is that it's not going to be used much at all, or for long periods of time, infact pretty rarely. The wiring will be sufficient to hold all the amps, but like I said the switch will be just out of range.Being that it is going to be pretty rarely used, and it is only 6 - 8 extra amps, what would be the possible damage or issue, if any, and how long would it take for these problems to begin (in general)?(Please don't say to add a new switch that can take the extra current, as I am aware of that, but I would prefer not to because the switch I want to use is a part of a self-contained switch panel and I would rather have all my accessories on the control panel first before deciding to add switches elsewhere. I kind of want to find an "easy way out" before I have to make things more difficult
