Questions & Answers
Question : How should I thank the elves who bled my car's brake system for me?
A couple days ago I had to change the left rear caliper on my '95 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme using a Murray's refurbished replacement. After replacing it I used one of those one-man bleed kits to bleed the two rear calipers. When done I took her out for a test drive but noticed the brakes felt spongy and weak; the pedal seemed to have too much play.Well of course I figured there was still air left in the lines and I'd have to bleed the system again. But when I drove the car the next morning the brakes felt firm and solid! Since the brake lines can't bleed themselves I figured some nice car elves must have dropped by during the night and did all the work for me. How thoughtful of them! What's the best way for me to thank them for their kindness?

Answer:
What probably happened was when you first put it together the Caliper was fully expanded and it took several usages to get it all the way down. Not unusual when changing calipers or replacin pads. You might want to check the fluid to see that it's topped off now that the system has set in.

Question : How do i make a brake system flush?
Do i Need special tools to make a brake system flush for a 2000 jetta 2.0? where could i find the book that tells you step by step how to repair, replace and maintain your car?

Answer:
you do not want to bleed all your brake fluid out at once otherwise you will trap air in your system, what you want to do is bleed about 1/4 if that, then add new brake fluid, then repeat the process until all air is out of your system. but all you need is a wrench that fits the bleeder valve on the caliper/drum. good luck.

Question : Is it the brake system that causing my 1999 Ford Taurus SE to not move in drive?
I recently got another transmission put in my vehicle, because the previous one was bad, and now this one is. So I took it back to the shop so they could put another transmission in, because my car wouldn't move in drive (my car would't go in drive on the first tranny). Could it be the braking system that causing the car not to move in drive?

Answer:
First check fluid level then have your mechanic run a diagnostics on it could be a sensor or the computer

Question : How does the hydraulic brake system in a car work?
as part of some science work i have to explain how a hydraulic brake system works

Answer:
easyest way to discribe how it woks is..its like a bike hand pump with 4 pipes going to each wheel..the pump handle is the foot brake, just replace the air in the pump with brake fluid,at the end of each pipe theres a smaller hand pump...when you push the big hand pump all other little pumps are forced open[these will be the brake calipers/cylnders...thats about that really...then youve got the brake servo,it uses a vacume from the engine[or a vac pump] to assist in the braking effort....hope this helps

Question : If a Brake system is contaminated is it common for just one brake to lock up ?
My 01 dodge dakota's passenger front brake locked up and the dealership said the system is contaminated and they say i have to replace the whole brake system 3200 dollars ,i think im being scammed because i didnt buy the vehicle from dodge somebody help

Answer:
You're getting scammed! If there is contamination in your lines, any good brake shop can flush the lines, and the MOST common cause of a front brake locking up is ...1 - Caliper frozen from mechanical failure. It happens.2 - severe warping of rotor, leading to caliper binding.Your brake system is sealed, and it just doesn't get 'contaminated' to any degree that will cause a caliper to lock up.Go to a local brake shop, and expect 300 to 500 dollars at most.

Question : How to bleed out a brake system for a 2001 dodge ram?
the brake system has abs, every time I press the brakes they go to the floor.I have tryed bleeding them and it is still having problems.

Answer:
start with the furthist wheel brake from the master cyelinder and work your way closer as you go most of the time its the passager rear then the drivers rear then the passager front and then the drivers front and if you dont get any air after bleeding your brakes thay should be bleed and you should have good pedle if every thing is working the way its saposto good luck

Question : What to do if ABS indicator, VSA system indicator and brake system indicator flash together on Honda CRV?
I have a 2005 Honda CRV. The three system indicators - ABS, VSA, and brake flash on for a second approximately 1 - 2 minutes after I start the car. Any idea what I need to do?

Answer:

I just finish bleeding my brakes on my motorcycle. I gave it a test ride and seem to be in good working order however. My question is if there is any air that i missed; will it stay in the brake system and cause failure at a random time or will I know with in a short test ride if my brakes are really safe?

What type of Brake system does the KIA SPECTRA has?ABS or HYD?

Answer:
It would depend on the year and equipment - some Spectras have ABS and others do not. If you want to know for sure, call a Kia dealer and give them the VIN of the car, and they should be able to tell you. Good luck.
