Wix cabin air filter for Honda Civic LX

I'm embarrassed to say that I did not even know my Honda Civic had an air filter for the cabin. My BMW and Audi in the past had them, but I just assumed that the inexpensive Honda did not have anything. When I went to buy an engine air filter on Amazon, I thought it was a joke that they were pairing the item with a cabin air filter. Well, no joke, the Honda Civic has a cabin filter and it's hidden away in a little drawer tucked behind the glove box. It was very easy to replace, once I knew that it was in there. You just open your glove box, push in the sides a little bit so the stoppers will let it swing all the way down, and then you will see the black face of the drawer for the filter behind. It just slides right out, swap out the new filter for the dirty one, and slide it back in. The only thing to watch for is to make sure the arrows showing the flow of air are lined up together. The drawer in the Honda had the arrow for airflow pointing downward, so I made sure the arrow on the side of the air filter was also pointing downward when I installed it.

That's it. Ten minute job at most, even if you take time to explore around behind your glovebox.

Wix cabin air filter

Seems to work OK, but I won't know for about a year or more. There's no way to know what doesn't get filtered out, you can only see what's in the filter. If the filter comes out clean, then I'll know it isn't working. The price was excellent though! I'll rate it as a 4 star for the time being.

Cabin filter

I replaced my disgustingly dirty filter with this nice Wix cabin filter.

It mounts just like the original on my 06 Acura TL.

Editorial Review :

The Flex-a-lite Mojave heater is designed to simplify the task of providing heat and comfort to your ride. It eliminates the need to locate hard-to-find parts, or go through expensive rebuilds to get old units in working order. The Mojave gets its heat from the hot water in your vehicle's cooling system (just like an O.E. unit), but has the advantage of fitting into a wide variety of confined spaces. Its compact size, ease of installation and operation make it the ideal replacement unit.

Great little heater!!!!!

Mojave Heat for the rear seat

I purchased this heater in order to provide additional cooling for my small block V-8 (addition of coolant to the system, as well as additional heat transfer) and the added benefit of providing heat to the passengers in the back of my FJ40 off road Toy. The unit was too large to mount in the back, but since I purchased the plenum box, I was able to mount it between the bucket seats and aim the 2 1/2" duct to the rear. This has worked out well. My first outing included many hours of steep hill climbing that would normally stress the coolant system, but I was able to crank the rear heat on high (noisy, but drowned out by the V-8) and keep the temp. down to 200 - 210. The unit seams very sturdy and I feel it was a good value.

Good Product but isn't as easy to install as it seems

This product works great it's nice to finally have heat in my Jeep but there is noooooo way I could have installed this myself as the direction might lead you to believe. Maybe if you have an old and I mean really old Jeep you can install yourself. I have a 98 Wrangler and I brought it to a custom car shop to get installed and they had a tough time getting it in there. They had to do all sorts of customized cutting and shaping to get it in there. They did a good job and it looks like an original piece of the Jeep now but it ended up costing me $700 bucks to get it installed. They guys there said there's no way an average joe who is a little bit mechanically inclined could have done that alone. It took them 3 days to get it in to make it look good too. It works great but ended up costing me way more than I anticipated in the long run.

Heater for my rock crawler

I purchased this heater last year before taking my Poison Spyder Bruiser to Moab, Utah. It was good timing for the heater, the first day it snowed 6 inches on our party. Installation was a breeze. The three (3) speed fan switch works well for regulating heat. I installed a ball valve inline with the water supply so I can turn it off in the summer. Delivers plenty of air flow for any jeep with a rag top. Comes with instructions for an easy electrical hookup. High quality construction. This heater would be a good addition for the rear seat passengers.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HEATER FOR ANY VEHICLE THAT NEEDS SOME HOT AIR.

Manu defect

Would have given it a higher review if I didn't have to fix it first. Flex a lite put the motor fan assembly in upside down, reversing the blower. Works great....now.

fits 04' RX8 perfectly

This is a super easy swap and the product fit my '04 Mazda RX8 perfectly. The package comes with two filter elements in it which replaces exactly the two in the car. You just pull off your glove box, pull open the air filter cover, pull out the two old dirty filters and slide in the two that came in the box. Simple and easy.

Questions & Answers
Question : Chrysler Towne and Country Climate Control 2002/BLOWER MOTOR MALFUNCTION?
Blower motor runs at 80%. When attempting to shut off blower via shutting down climate control system the blower motor switches to 100% power with internal air. Turning fan speed selector gives no results. All other functions of IR 3 zone climate control are working.

Answer:
Think there might be a recall on that, should look up recalls on your van. Might try that or else, sounds like a sensor or the computer is messing up.

Question : Isuzu Rodeo Climate Control System?
The system that switches the A/C and Heat from defrost to vent to floor is broken on my rodeo. I have no idea what it is called. The part that is broken is where the rod that runs from the lever to a gear mechanism that alternates how the air flows.I don't know how to explain it better.

Answer:
My solution to anything that goes wrong on my 95 Rodeo like this: find it at the junkyard. Try to find a U-Pull-It around where you live, I was extremely surprised at my junkyard, expecting nothing Isuzu, I found 3 Rodeos, 2 Honda Passports and 2 Isuzu Amigos, all with compatible parts. If you're not great with takin stuff apart and putting it back together, get the Haynes Rodeo repair manual, it works great for me, and was about 10 bucks or so at Pep Boys.

Question : How much will it cost to get a Passat's climatronic climate control system repaired or replaced?
It looks as if my climatronic control is not working properly on my Passat 2001. It does not display the temperature outside. It just comes up as -- C (celcious) It usually reads in F (Fahrenheit).Sometimes, very unusually now, the air kicks in and blows out really cool air. That is why I think there is some sort of sensor problem. Otherwise right now it blows out mostly hot air since it is summer.Does anyone know how much something like this would cost to get fixed at the dealership or elsewhere? I kind of want to know how much I should be spending.Any feedback or experiences would be great! Thanks!

Answer:
I've worked in Volkswagen dealership service departments on and off over a 25 year period, so perhaps I can offer some insight into the situation.Normally, the language change (metric - celcious; english farhenheit) is set thru the digital computer display on the instrument cluster using the control buttons for the menu. (use the owners manual to understand how to set the display, if I try to explain it, you'd probably be more confused). It is possible that the temp sensors that sense the interior temperature aren't working properly. You can override the system some what by selecting maximum cold and have the selector display blowing air out of the dash vents (with the arrow pointing towards the face on the digital display) to circumvent the automatic control. I'm sorry to say that sometimes the system when set on automatic will blow hardly any cold air or sometimes just blow at maximum speed with no ryhme or reason. Its the reason that I prefer the manual control set up on GLS or GL models verses the GLX.Try the above and see if it starts to blow cold air; by setting the fan speed at maximum blow and temperature at the minimum, it should blow cold air fairly quickly; if it doesn't blow cold air, then you'll need to take the vehicle into a dealership to have someone scan the system and run self tests to see what is the issue. Expect to spend at least 1 hour's labour at what the labour rate is to help determine what the fault might be. I just hope its not the electronic control unit as they are somewhat expensive to replace (there are not servicable parts in the electronic control head; you can only exchange it for a rebuilt one-- its one place where the US car companies are far superior to all vehicles-- in the climate control area).Hope this helps, a car nut.

Question : Brake light, Auto control climate system problems. Please help?
02' grand cherokee limited V8Problems:1) Left brake light is not working when the park lamps are on and aslo rear left park lamp goes off at same time. When the park lamps are off everything works fine. I understand that the problem is not the bulbs. 2) Passenger side always flows cold air :( I tried all the combinations ( Auto, manuel, a\c, lo, hi, 80f etc...) In all conditions the right side of the climate system flows cold air.Thank you very much, waiting for help...Oh! by the way front speakers blow in 2 days (tweeters)

Answer:
As far as the Brake light issue my first guess would be a faulty connection with a Grounding wire. They tend to be hooked to the frame or Body of vehicle in various places. A loose one or disconnected ground wire. Will cause this winking out trouble. Another way to notice this effect is if you can see any lights that seem somewhat dimmer than another. particularly a tail light lamp or park lamp. If so the dimmer one can be the side thats is not getting a secure ground. When this occurs. the lamp can still lite but it is now lighting by having the power of another lit bulb drawing the power throuh it. The climate control system might be a Stuck control door / or a solenoid controling a door inside the plenum of the Air duct system. But if you have the most recent version of a new vehicle. several items like this can be having troubles due to a Computer Module not talking right with the system. I Test drive For Ford Motor in the Desert of Arizona we do a lot of Climate Control evaluation. With luck it may very well be a simply piece of Debri blocking a control Door Inside the ducting from moving.

Question : What does "cool" mean on a car's climate control system (with AC off)?
Does it mean the car is blowing cool air, or is it just bringing in air from the outside? I'm talking about a slider with Cool on the left, Warm in the center and Hot on the right. Which one do you have to set it on to actually bring in unaltered air from outside of the car?

Question : Can climate control systems/HVAC be installed in ANY structure?
I am toying with the idea of building a large structure similar to an indoor horse arena/equestrian facility and would like it to be climate controlled. The builders I am looking at do not offer any sort of HVAC with their structures so I'd have to get it done separately. My question is, can HVAC systems be installed after the structure has been built or must it be "built in" to the structure during the initial construction? Thanks.

Answer:
You can always add on HVAC. You're going to need a commercial contractor, and get a good one. Hope you've got deep pockets.
