Question : I can't control the heat on my 99 Sable with auto climate control, When system is on heat overides everything?
Is there a solenoid or flow switch that controls coolant flow to the heater coil? The heat is totally overpowering! I can divert airflow to the various outlets using the control panel but the heat will not shut off when the system is on,

Answer:
There's suppose to be an atc sensor for it, On other Fords it usually goes wrong and stays stuck on hot.Atc stands for automatic temp. control sensor.

Question : What does "cool" mean on a car's climate control system (with AC off)?
Does it mean the car is blowing cool air, or is it just bringing in air from the outside? I'm talking about a slider with Cool on the left, Warm in the center and Hot on the right. Which one do you have to set it on to actually bring in unaltered air from outside of the car?

Question : What could be wrong with Saturn L200 Climate Control System?
Tonight while driving our Saturn on a family outing, the climate control system just all of a sudden reset itself. The LED display went dark, fan stopped, then it came back on as if turning the ignition and restarted. At first I thought maybe something like a bump in the road, after all we were on the i-state driving 70+ mph. But by the end of the night, it was shutting itself off and on over and over. Each time it would light back up and restart, it wouldn't make it 5 seconds before cycling down again. It was late, dark, and cold...so other than just a visual inspection for loose wires under the dashboard I haven't really checked anything. Luckily, my wife is off work until the new year, but once she goes back she won't be able to defrost the windows of a morning or heat the vehicle. Where do I need to look. Is this electrical, computer malfunction, fuse gone bad, loose wire, etc? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Answer:
There is a fuse block in the engine compartment that has fuses, relays and circuit breakers in it. It will be about the size of a cigar box near the battery. Remove the lid and read the legend. It should have one labeled "climate control" or "heat/air" or something like that. It's possible the circuit breaker has gone bad. They work like a breaker on a house, but reset themselves when the circuit cools. You may have a short somewhere, but I would try that first.Hope that helps and good luck

Question : If mankind cannot control a system of our making should we meddle with climate?
We cannot control a system of our own making(global financial system) do we have any chance of controling the infinitely more complex global climate system and would we be better off using our limited resources to adapt to this changing world rather than spending trillions in atempts to control it?Considering Humans are a naturaly occuring species is not our introduction of CO2 and other compounds also natural. One large volcanic eruption can introduce alot more than we can in ten years.

Answer:
Of course not. Meddling with it is the height of folly, as is meddling with the financial system. (Particularly the way we do it.)Espcially in a case as we have now where we only think we've done something, we're not sure, and many thinking people are exceptionally dubious that we could have any effect on the climate if we tried.

Question : How much will it cost to get a Passat's climatronic climate control system repaired or replaced?
It looks as if my climatronic control is not working properly on my Passat 2001. It does not display the temperature outside. It just comes up as -- C (celcious) It usually reads in F (Fahrenheit).Sometimes, very unusually now, the air kicks in and blows out really cool air. That is why I think there is some sort of sensor problem. Otherwise right now it blows out mostly hot air since it is summer.Does anyone know how much something like this would cost to get fixed at the dealership or elsewhere? I kind of want to know how much I should be spending.Any feedback or experiences would be great! Thanks!

Answer:
I've worked in Volkswagen dealership service departments on and off over a 25 year period, so perhaps I can offer some insight into the situation.Normally, the language change (metric - celcious; english farhenheit) is set thru the digital computer display on the instrument cluster using the control buttons for the menu. (use the owners manual to understand how to set the display, if I try to explain it, you'd probably be more confused). It is possible that the temp sensors that sense the interior temperature aren't working properly. You can override the system some what by selecting maximum cold and have the selector display blowing air out of the dash vents (with the arrow pointing towards the face on the digital display) to circumvent the automatic control. I'm sorry to say that sometimes the system when set on automatic will blow hardly any cold air or sometimes just blow at maximum speed with no ryhme or reason. Its the reason that I prefer the manual control set up on GLS or GL models verses the GLX.Try the above and see if it starts to blow cold air; by setting the fan speed at maximum blow and temperature at the minimum, it should blow cold air fairly quickly; if it doesn't blow cold air, then you'll need to take the vehicle into a dealership to have someone scan the system and run self tests to see what is the issue. Expect to spend at least 1 hour's labour at what the labour rate is to help determine what the fault might be. I just hope its not the electronic control unit as they are somewhat expensive to replace (there are not servicable parts in the electronic control head; you can only exchange it for a rebuilt one-- its one place where the US car companies are far superior to all vehicles-- in the climate control area).Hope this helps, a car nut.

Question : Isuzu Rodeo Climate Control System?
The system that switches the A/C and Heat from defrost to vent to floor is broken on my rodeo. I have no idea what it is called. The part that is broken is where the rod that runs from the lever to a gear mechanism that alternates how the air flows.I don't know how to explain it better.

Answer:
My solution to anything that goes wrong on my 95 Rodeo like this: find it at the junkyard. Try to find a U-Pull-It around where you live, I was extremely surprised at my junkyard, expecting nothing Isuzu, I found 3 Rodeos, 2 Honda Passports and 2 Isuzu Amigos, all with compatible parts. If you're not great with takin stuff apart and putting it back together, get the Haynes Rodeo repair manual, it works great for me, and was about 10 bucks or so at Pep Boys.
