Editorial Review :

AEM pioneered the Cold Air induction system for sport compact cars in 1994. A Cold Air intake system relocates the filter outside of the engine compartment to deliver the coolest air inlet temperatures possible. Cooler air carries more oxygen, which translates into a more intense explosion in the combustion chamber to create more horsepower and torque. But that's only part of the power equation. Tuning the inlet pipe in length and diameter to match the engine's resonance helps move more air to the cylinders (think of your engine as a big air pump), and this tuning allows us to deliver the maximum power gains throughout the entire RPM range. We also monitor fuel trim correction factors and all OBDII sensors during R&D to eliminate leaning the engine out and/or throwing a check engine light. Our Cold Air systems are dyno-proven and tested against the competition with the goal of creating more useable power than any other system of their kind. Every AEM Cold Air induction system features the highest standards of construction and we are so confident in their fit and performance that we guarantee them for the life of your vehicle. All AEM Cold Air systems are either 50-state legal or pending (excluding "Off Road" and "Hybrid" systems), include a lifetime DRYFLOW Synthetic air filter and come with a limited lifetime warranty.

Questions & Answers
Question : How to fix a 2002 Hyundai sonata EVAP Emission control system, Check engine light?
I have a 2002 Hyundai sonata and the check engine light came on. I had a computer read out for it and they are telling me a its the EVAP Emission Control System Vent Circuit Malf. Code number P0446. The question is how do you fix it?

Answer:
ill tell you how but i need the best answer from you :PWhen did the light come on ? was it after you filled up your gas tank??If that is the case you might want to go to the Gas Cap and make sure its tight - remove it and then turn it till you are JUST tight enough before it clicks THEN while pushing down on the cap turn it till you get 1 click that will ensure that the cap is on tight.Reset the light and drive the vehicle for 500 miles - that will reset the Drive Cycle of the vehicle - and if there is still a problem then you will know that the Cap itself is defective or you have a plastic vent line broken seom where.OH by the way - the Canister does not have a sensor on it - the vent sensor is located on the gas tank - it senses pressure , and what it does is manages the amount of loss in the tank - this happens to not allow fuel vapors in the AIR - hence cleaner vehicle polutants...... Check the gas cap reset light drive 500 miles recheck if light comes back on....done deal *)Good Luck to you.

Question : Problems with Emission System in vauxhall corsa comfort?
I have a Corsa Comfort and the emission light has come on and I am losing power in the car. Does anyone know how to fix this kind of problem and can I do it myself without involving a mechanic??? Any answers are appreciated.Thanks.

Answer:
Hey there,Could be a number of things.Have a look at these forum threads to see others with your problem.http://www.usedcarmart.co.uk/forum/archive/index.php/t-11583.htmlhttp://www.reviewcentre.com /vt112160_start0_orderasc.htmlI suspect a trip to the Vauxhall Dealer or another garage with the right diagnostics equipment is the only option. In general the emmission light comes on when the engine management system believes the car is not functioning as expected. This could simply be faulty sensors. You would not be abel to fit these and test them as such without specialist equipment. If you want to see what is involved the Haynes Manual for the Corsa probably will explain in. (Some public libraries keep copies) http://www.haynes.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&produ ctId=43353&langId=-1This is one of the comments from the forum that seems to make sense.==========================================One point though, the ecu machine that reads fault codes never detects the air mass meter, or if it does detect a fault, it usually points to the first oxygen sensor. This happened to me. Apparently, air mass meters on Corsa's go quite regularly (about 50K miles) and o2 sensors hardly at all. ==========================================I would think this could cost £50 to £150 to sort outGood Luck,

Question : How expensive is it to upgrade a Texas emission system to meet California's stricter emission code?
We want to purchase a car here using a $3000 Texas voucher (and adding some $ to that) to buy a car for my son. He will be driving it to California to start a new job there. The car we purchase in Texas will have to be a 2005 or newer. Does anyone know approx. how much it will cost to upgrade it to California standards. Also do we have to pay "sales tax" when we transfer the title over to a California title....how expensive will that be. Just trying to figure out what the best course of action will be. Thanks for any tips.

Question : Emission Control System on 2003 Chevy Malibu Classic?
I recently had my check engine light come on, but then after a few days it went off, now it is back on. So, I took it to Advance Auto Parts and used their diagnostic testing machine and it came back as Emissions Control System Leak EVAP(Large)...Does that mean I possibly might just have to replace the gas cap or is it somewhere in the hoses or the vacuum itself? If anyone could help, please do so thanks!

Answer:
Most common is the gas cap leak. I would replace that fist if that doesn't help it could be a leak in a line.

Question : Car question: where is the evaporative emission control system vent control circuit located?
Car question: where is the evaporative emission control system vent control circuit located? ... I have a Pontiac Montana/Transport ''98.any diagrams of this?

Answer:
The EVAP canister on your 1998 Pontiac Trans Sport Montana is mounted low in the corner of the passenger side firewall and frame rail. The EVAP canister purge valve vent solenoid is mounted on the engine below the coils on the firewall side of the engine. It looks like this:http://info.rockauto.com/getimage/getimage.php?imagekey=87953&imageurl=http%3A//info.rockauto.c om/ACDelco/214-567.jpgYou can see its location in this engine illustration:http://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/266999_ckp_4.jpg

Question : What is the purpose of an emission control system?
How important is this? Will it leave me stranded after a while?

Answer:
Extremely important. Your car would fail an inspection if the emission control was not hooked up. The purpose of emission control is to curb polution by helping the converter change the gases that come from your cars engine. Less Carbon Monoxide, Carbon Dioxide, etc.

Question : How do I find what kind of emission control system is on a 2007 PT Cruiser?
I have checked under the hood and all it says is it coforms to EPA and gives some long number. And I DO MEAN THE SYSTEM NAME NOT WHAT IT IS MADE OF AND FORGET THE OWNER MANUAL AND WHAT IS UNDER THE HOOD!!!I mean LEV as just one example-there is a whole list of them.

Answer:
Here is a bit of info....not sure on the PT Cruiser."The law requires that a Vehicle Emission ControlInformation label be placed under the hood stating that thevehicle conforms to California emissions controlregulations. Such labels may also include text indicatingthat the vehicle complies with the regulations of otherstates which have adopted California’s LEV program, orthat in addition to California regulations, the vehicle alsocomplies with U.S. EPA regulations. In such instanceswhere a vehicle meets both California and U.S. EPAemissions requirements, the vehicle is commonly referredto as a “50-state” vehicle."looks like if it meets any of the non-standard regulations it should say it under the hood...

Question : What is a Emission System in a car? The light went on displaying the emission system? what it mean?
well my car has been acting up a little bit. everytime i stop in traffic lights, the cars accelerates a little bit but not too much to make it dangerous. it just like coughs everytime i stop, but when i go on park. the coughs in the car stop. what is it that?

Answer:
Sounds like you have a sensor problem. This is what happens. a sensor goes bad giving the computer bad information your car goes into a "closed loop mode" which means it no longer adjusts for speed, acceleration, timing and all the other things it does to make you engine run smooth and efficient. Take your car to a shop get the "codes" run and they should be able to tell you what is wrong. (probably an o2 sensor) Once you get it replaced and have the codes cleared you car should be back to normal again. Plan on a bill (hopefully less than $100-$200) Hope that I helped......R
