Adding this B&M SuperCooler keeps the ATF and transmission cooler, and keeping a vehicle's transmission cool is essential for dependability, especially in performance applications. The unit is designed to be very efficient for its size and weight, to cool much better than an ordinary 'fin and tube' cooler, and to reduce the risk of lube system failure. Using fluxless, oven brazed construction for vibration resistance, it is built out of lightweight aluminum alloy and features a revolutionary 'stacked plate' design with multiple oil flow paths. The unit monitors resistance to flow by allowing a controlled amount of ATF to pass through a self-regulating orifice. Controlled by viscosity, thicker ATF is returned directly to lube through two bypass openings in the stacked plate core, while thinner ATF is directed through the core to cool as operating temperatures increase.

need's fan

good product but as a stand alone unit a elect. fan needs to be added.

It's a transmission cooler

It coools the transmission fluid. On my 2001 4Runner. Get 5 extra feet of hose and you're gravy. Don't bother with anything else, this is all you need.

Rating :

it saved my tranny

I was getting all kinds of weird things happening in my Mazda transmission because of overheating. Engine flare-ups, jerky downshifts, you name it. It was on a fast road to ruin. Since the installation of this cooler (along with ATF change), all this is now history. Shifts are timely and smooth, all for a fraction of a cost of a new valve body. The only thing that would make this kit even better is a couple of fender washers and a longer (~8ft) hose.

Great product!

I can't recommend a transmission cooler enough - heat kills transmissions. You don't need to tow to get the benefits of a transmission cooler - every vehicle (especially trucks/SUVs) should have one. The stock setup in my vehicle ('05 Buick Rainier w/ 4L60E transmission) allows the transmission temps to get as high as 250*-270*. After installing this cooler, the highest I've seen was 190*.

PROS:
-The build quality is amazing - much thicker than your stock coolant radiator.
-The stacked-plate design allows thick, cool fluid to automatically bypass cooler until it heats up enough to warrant cooling.
-Includes all the mounting hardware you could need, and some you don't (see below)
-Price

CONS:
-Includes through-coolant-radiator zip ties as one mounting option - don't use them. They will eventually wear holes in your coolant radiator, and it's also preferable to have some gap between the radiators.

wrong hardware

I have a 05 Silverado and the fittings that came with the unit did not work. Had to get compression fittings, cut the return line, and splice them in. This would be an easy install job with the correct fittings, without the correct fittings its a real hassle.

Editorial Review :

This reversible Flex-a-lite S-blade electric engine cooling fan is designed for quiet operation and efficient air movement. If used as a primary fan, it frees up horsepower that would otherwise have to be used to turn a belt-driven fan. When used as an auxiliary fan, it will provide added cooling to an engine prone to overheating.

Customer Review :

COOL.......... REAL COOL

I'll be honest, I just wasn't completely satisfied with the ability of other fans. I'm 6'8" tall and when I'm in my full custom tailored genuine ruby leather Michael Jackson outfit, I want to know that my re-creation of the video 'BAD' is done with the highest level of passion. This fan, combined with authentic Michael Jackson moves i've been working on, gives what I want, when I want. .....Stay cool, cause I am.

Note to buyers: this is a car engine fan, not for household use

I don't own it so I can't really review it. It looks like a desktop fan but it isn't.

"Fan" tastic price. Great quality !

If you've looked at Jeg's or Summit catalogs (even online), these guys have them beat ! Even E-bay's lowest price was $122 plus shipping. This was available with free shipping when I purchased it. Moves 2500 cfm, and I use two to cool a 310hp V-10 4x4. I live where its over 100 degrees for 3 months each summer. Very sturdy. I believe Flex-A-Lite makes OEM fans for some Ford and Chevy products from what I've read.
17 amps is not bad whan most alternators put out 75 to 135 amps.
Great A/C fan as a pusher, also cools as a puller. Don't hesitate to buy one.

Cool down with this Flex-a-lite fan

I'd just installed a rebuilt high performance radiator, but due to the small space of my installation and the small area of the radiator (about 16" x 17") I was still running hot. Doing a lot of research I found this high performance cooling fan and then found it here at Amazon for almost half of the price of high performance auto sites! I set it up as a pusher in front of the radiator and now my around town cooling problems are solved. Moves 2400 CFM of air and draws about 17 AMPS while only being 4 inches thick. Install was quick and the results were spectacular. I highly recommend this fan.

B&M 70264 SuperCooler Automatic Transmission Cooler

I installed this on my 97 Ford Explorer 4x4.

Although it seems to be operating just fine, the kit did not come with all the parts needed.
I had to purchase more hose (not much of an expense) but the main expense was in having to purchase fittings to make it work.

The stock compression fitting on the SUV did not fit into the one(s) provided in the kit.
The threads would have worked, but there was a non-threaded extension on the compression fitting on the stock transmission lines that did not allow for it to thread.
Had there been a longer throw on the adapters provided in the kit it would have been fine I think.

For sure, I would recommend having a vehicle handy to run for parts before disassembling anything.

The solution ended up being several adapters going from the stock compression fittings to brass pipe fittings (to compensate for the long throw) back to the compression fittings on the new unit (not cheap). The pipe fittings were machine turned and a little pricey. The main piece(s) I had to use were 2 Air Line Hose Fittings - Solid Brass Hose Barb Type - 3/8 MNPT. (don't forget to put Teflon tape on the pipe fitting threads)

Also because I bypassed the stock radiator, I had to buy some threaded plugs to plug the holes where the transmission lines originally went into the radiator, (they were a couple of bucks a piece).

If not for the fact I had a leak between the engine coolant and the stock trans cooler I don't think I would have had to plug them, but for a couple of bucks it may be a good idea regardless.

I had to go to a couple of parts stores to find the parts I needed, but in the end I found them all at NAPA.
I had to bring in the parts that came with the kit, and just go through the drawers of fittings until I found a combo that worked.

If not for that long throw on the stock fitting, and the fact I had to "combo up" several parts to make it work, it would not have been a big deal, but it was a pain, and 20+ bucks in extra parts.

All in all, I am happy with the end result, but not having to dig through dozens of part bins, and forking out another chunk of cash for a palm full of parts that could have very easily been supplied in the kit.

I mounted the unit in front of the radiator and was able to bolt it directly to a metal cross member (providing plenty of clearance) using some self tapping screws (not provided either) but it was easier than drilling holes and using the bolts provided in the kit.
I am happier with this set up than I would have been using the zip ties provided, and I really think it was just as easy. (at least on the Explorer)

Bought this for my 2002 toyota tundra. Overall an easy install. Had to relocate the left side horn to the driver side near radiator. Plenty of hose length.

Nice and cool

Installed on a Dodge sprinter *great value. I was a little worried about the kit not having everything but......... it did! NO TRIP TO The Auto Store for me. Oddly, I thought FLARE connections were international but, barbed to female flare Fit real snug on the original merc bung. Just a heads up, i just mashed it.

Cool

This thing is light weight, easy to mount, and is packaged with most of the hardware necessary to install it. Seems to be working as advertised, but who really knows?

Great cooler!

I've bought 2 of these coolers. Fit my 98 & 07 Corvettes perfectly. High quality and great price. No more worrying about overheating the trans while racing. On the 07 I installed it after the OEM cooler which is located inside the radiator. This allows the OEM "cooler" to actually heat the fluid on cold days. If you take the OEM out of the loop it'll be difficult to get the trans up to operating temp.

Great Auto Trans Cooler

This is an excellent automobile automatic transmission cooler for your car. It fits nicely on most cars right in front of the condenser and radiator. Just remember to put some insulating foam between this and the condenser. If this cooler touches the condenser it will transfer the heat to your conderser coils and reduce the efficiency of your A/C system dramatically. The only better cooler is an even bigger cooler.

Great Product

This cooler was easy to install on my 03 V6 4Runner, everything that I needed was in the box and then some. The quality of the product looked great but time will tell.

Question : i left lights on in my car and battery fully draind and didnt keep a charge so i replaced?
new on is fine but battery light is on and it feels like the altinator is not charging the battery back up also my cooling fan fuse keeps poping 30 amp fuse didnt know if that would be caused by the battery being fully draind or the altinator? and can u get the altinator test at local auto parts store didnt know?

Answer:
there may be a short in the fan wiring and if you think its the alternator then there is a simple way to test it without taking it off just turn the car on and while running unplug the (+) wire off the battery and the car should stay on , if it does that means that its producing power which keeps the car running otherwise yeah if you take it to your auto-part store they should be able to test it .for the fan retrace all the wire from the fan to its power source you'll find something wrong.

I know the answers, but if I give them to you, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the test? If you are studying to be an electrician, you need to know this stuff. Otherwise, you could hurt or kill yourself, or worse... hurt or kill an innocent.

Question : Will this 12v power inverter run this table top fan using my Cessna152's 28v DC system with 24v,14amp battery?
I'm a pilot of a Cessna 152 in Texas. The aircraft does not have an air conditioner and it gets extremely hot during the Texas summers. I found this link on youtube of how to build a portable air conditioner using an ice chest, aquarium pump and table top fan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjY-8FN1myU. I have found these parts online to build the sucker but I don't know enough about volts, amps and watts to know if it will all work or not. (My airplane has a 28v DC system with 60 amp alternator and a 24v 14amp battery.) :The fan: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Honeywell+-+Table+Air+Circulator+Fan+-+Black/9643594.p?skuId=9643594&ci_ src=14110944&ci_sku=9643594&ref=06&loc=01&id=1218136066880The power inverter: http://www.walmart.com/ip/XOvision-350W-Power-Inverter-with-2-AC-Outlets-XO420/11063326#ProductDetai lThe submersible aquarium pump: http://cgi.ebay.com/Fountain-Aquarium-Garden-92GPH-Submersible-Pump-Water_W0QQitemZ350338162046QQcmd ZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5191c81d7e#ht_2180wt_1165If this system will not work, what type of equipment would I need to look for so that it does work?Thank you very much in advance for your help!

Answer:
The inverter can run these items however the input voltage of the inverter is 12V your planes system is 28v. I don't know about you but I wouldn't feel safe doing this. I don't think if you had an issue with the plane you could just pull over some where.
