Originally developed for demanding auto race applications, our premium oil filter is rapidly becoming a favorite among consumers for its durability and easy removal. We've changed oil filters and several of our product development technicians are sportsman class drag racers. They insisted we offer an oil filter that corrected the headaches they experienced over the years changing oil filters. We have all been there: Whether it's remembering where that disappearing canister tool is; or having oil leak all over your garage and yourself; or finally giving up and pounding a screwdriver through the filter just to get if off. Each of our automotive and marine oil filters comes with a 1 nut welded to the top of the canister so they can be easily wrenched-off with a standard tool. Our motorcycle and ATV oil filters come with a 17 mm nut. Our oil filters use resin impregnated cellulose filter media. This allows for higher flow rates while providing outstanding filtration. High filter flow rates are important in racing vehicles where heavier grade oil is used and the oil is pumped much faster than in a standard vehicle. When the engine is circulating oil at high GPM rates, the high-flow oil filter helps reduce the loss of pressure through the filtering process. To satisfy the demands of racers, our oil filter has many features over and above the requirements of most vehicles. We use thicker canister walls for extra strength and durability which reduces the risk of damage from loose rocks and debris. The heavy-duty construction will withstand higher oil pressures found only in racing environments without bursting. The drilled hole on the nut is for a safety wire attachment. Required for many types of racing, the safety wire prevents blown oil filters from falling on the track and representing a hazard to other race vehicles. This extra engineering offers peace of mind for consumers who want only the best.

I Expect it Works Well-Good Reputation

How does one know if it is filtering well? It fits, is easy on and off, and I like the nut for removal. I expect it does it's job and K&N has a good reputation so it works for me. According to the research I have done K&N is supposed to be top quality and I have had no problems. It is $4 less expensive from Amazon than at the local car parts store (O'Reilly's that replaced Checker), so, good price here, and fast shipping with PRIME. I would not consider buying a cheap oil filter and feel K&N is a name brand with a good reputation. 2nd choice would be Mobile 1. I use this on my 12kw generator with Mobile 1 synthetic oil. I also use K&N filters on my Dodge Stealth.

love the 1" tightening nut

I think the nut is really convenient. Why doesn't everyone make filters like this? Only filters I will ever use again

Rating :

Proven goodness

Been using K&N filters exclusively for two years. I have an oil analysis done every other change and the results show it is doing an excellent job. The nut makes it very easy to remove but it also makes the filter slightly taller than the stock part, if you have a very tight fit in your engine compartment make sure there is enough room for it.

KnN FILTER the only one for me

This is a great product (MADE IN THE USA). I have used this on all of my vehicles for years. Would not change oil with out it. Thats why I stock these in my garage.

Rating :

Doesn't fit application listed - waste of money.

If you have the 3.9 Lincoln V-8 DO NOT BUY stock number HP-2009. The screw-on hole is way too small and you'll be stuck screwing on your old filter and limping to your nearest parts store for one that fits. My first experience with K&N has been regrettable, never again. I should have stayed with the bulletproof Purolator filters.

wanted a fleese filter, this is it ,good price, fast service, name brand, made by german company Mann

Rating :

Great filter - Amazon's application list is wrong though.

Great high quality filter, what more is there to say. K&N always delivers top notch items.(although this one is imported from Germany - which is likely a Mann brand filter - still the best)
Now the problem. Amazon says this part HP-7004 will not fit a Chrysler Crossfire SRT6 (also for NA engine)....wrong, this is the correct item and confirmed with K&N.

K&N OIL FILTER_MERC

I have a 1998 Mercedes E320 4Matic, recommended oil change interval is 10,000 miles, but system auto flags when it is required. Using the K&N filter and european standard amsoil my car went beyond 12,000 miles before the system flagged up that change was necessary, total mileage covered was approx 14,000 when I did the oil change and system still flagged 300 miles to go before it was required. Will continue to use this product in my Mercedes.

Customer Review :

It seems to work good.

Without tearing the filter apart I can say that it seems to be doing its job.
It fit my vehicle and there doesn't seem to be any leaking from a bad seal.
I'm still debating if the advertised quality is worth the cost.

Normally I replace my filter every time I change my oil. This time I'm going to skip
changing out the filter the nest time that I change my oil and do it for the next oil
change(so wait for the second oil change) and see if there is any appreciable difference.

Questions & Answers
Question : i have a vauhxall astra 1.7TD izuzu engine ?
how do i put a new wire from battier to the alternator what part of the battier does it go on and alternator and what size of amp wire do i use

Answer:
Why do you need a new wire, it would help us to answer you better if we knew the problem your having. If its the main cable your referring to remove the old one and go to a shop that sells car battery's and alternators they should be able to make one like for like as the cable will need heavy duty crimps put on it and the tools required are rather expensive just to be used once.

Question : 2000 pontiac firebird v6 engine reduce power light on rough idle problem?
ok i have a 2000 pontiac firebird 3.8 v6. the other day i checked a fuse.. it was the abs batt 2 fuse, and replaced with another 50 amp fuse. after that i started the car and it is running rough and the engine reduced power light is on. it actually did it when my friend started it without the fuse in. now that is in though still engine reduced power. i have it at a mechanic now and he is saying that it is the throttle body and the part cost 900. i dont believe it is the throttle body and it doesnt cost that much???? what could it be

Answer:
Ask your mechanic to record and then Clear this code for you. Pay him his diagnostic fee and drive the car. If the problem is real, you'll be back in no time. Or maybe you caused the problem with the fuse. Good Luck TW

Question : Ford, 2000 Taurus, Engine cooling fans don't come on.. problem continues..?
So I have resorted to the shot-gun effect of replacing parts.... I replaced the Engine Temp. Switch.. that feeds the computer.. not the dash one. I also replaced what I thought was the main start relay for the fans from the fuse block under the hood up by the battery .. but the Chiltons/owners manual never says.. cooling fan relay... so I changed that one that said "fan start relay" or something to that effect ... (I used the new one as a tester to compair the others to)... so I checked each relay (the larger ones) power in & out and got it to "click" and with the continuity checker the switch to assure contact between the switch part of the relay is functioning... so far... everything seems to be working? The main 40 amp fuse is good... the duel cooling fans should be kicking on when I run the A.C. and temp gauge is on the high side... but nothing... nada... what am I missing... possibly does anyone know exactly which relay kicks these fans on... (I wiggled connections, checked fuses and kind of at a loss here.. I know it is probably something simple... but can't seem to find it...)Ideas?

Answer:
You should have two systems to activate your fans one is coolant temperature and the other turns it on with the AC. For both to fail is unusual I would check the wiring going to the fan and if you haven't yet check the fan make sure it is working. I once had a car that the wiring burned out to the fan I ended up wiring the fan to a 30 amp relay and triggered it with a ignition on source wasn't pretty but it worked. Good Luck

Question : jeep charging system problems?
so hears the story, i have a 93 Cherokee with a lot of accessories, (sound system, high wattage lighting, etc....) so one day i noticed i was starting to put out less volts than i normally do, (its not a faulty gauge either, i have 3 in the jeep, monitoring different things. so my first thought was i finally killed my alternator, i knew it was going to happen one day. so i ordered a high out put alternator (165 amps), when it arrived i put it in first thing, went to test it and it does not seem to be doing any better than the stock 90 amp, im kinda thinking it could be the voltage regulater, thats because if im idling and than load it down to battery voltage 12.6, than i stop loading it, it wont come back up to 14 volts unless i rev the engine, so i went to the auto parts store and requested a voltage regulator, come to find out there is no seperate voltage regulator, im not sure but i think its integrated into the ecu (am i right, cuz im not sure?), if it is, i just happen to have another ecu lying around i could put in. but other than that i am lost any suggestions?

Answer:
could be the battery is going bad advance auto will check the battery and charging system for free

Question : if i did and serious damage to car alternator or any other engine part?
i was using a jump N carry pro start/charger 600-12 volt Dc . 1700 peak amp car battery charger to start my car since battery was dead. what i did was place the postive clamp from charger to negative post of car battery. when i notice smoking coming from the inside of charger then a pop noise . i am sure i burned out charger but i am wondering if i did any damage to car

Answer:
Start the car if it starts and the alternator isn't charging, check the fuses. If that doesn't fix it, bring it into a shop. The fuses should blow preventing serious damage, that's why they are there.

Question : Alterntor advice please 1984 Cadillac Fleetwood Limo?
I believe that this limo has a 4.1 liter engine. I could be wrong, but since it is a limo, it has to charge two batteries. This calls for a 120 amp alternator. I need to know if I can take the alternator from a Cadillac fleetwood brougham of the same era with a 6.0 or 5.0 liter engine, and use it in my 4.1 liter limo, and how much should it cost me? Also, what is the difference between a fleetwood brougham and a fleetwood? (how can I tell one from the other, will they take the same parts, are they the same car, and is this car a Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham?)Here is a few pics of the car. Thanks so much. http://s40.photobucket.com/albums/e221/prettypatriotic/?action=view¤t=Redlimoandmisc.Mondaywee kbeforeJune033_0002side.jpghttp://s40.photobucket.com/albums/e221/prettypatriotic/?action=view&curre nt=Miscfromphone.7807040.jpghttp://s40.photobucket.com/albums/e221/prettypatriotic/?action=view&curr ent=Redlimoandmisc-1.jpg

Answer:
I suggest taking the original and having it "upgraded" at a local alternator/starter rebuild shop if one is available. I worked at one for years and we took basic alternators and replaced the stator and fields with ones that produced more amps. This was typical of cars that wanted super sounds systems or even police cars that require massive amount of voltage to power their equipment. It's the cheapest way to go from what I know and you know the alternator will fit since it's the original.

Question : How can I get rid of the buzzing on my car speakers?
Details: I have a Pioneer head unit, two audiobahn amps (1 full range, 1 sub), 4 pioneer full range speakers, and a Diamond Sub.The buzzing sounds like it's a ground loop problem, but I've tried grounding everything. The buzz is high pitched and the pitch changes when the engine accelerates.Today I noticed that if I touch the pointy inside part of the rca wire on the outside part of the rca hole on the amp, the buzz went away, but the sound lost volume also. Does that mean anything? Do I need ground loop isolators? How do you install them properly?Just so you know, I've already tried running a ground directly to the battery for the head unit. didn't work. Positive wire directly to the battery. didn't work. I have the grounds for the amps run into a distribution block and the positives run through a fused block. When I unplug the RCAs out of the amps, no noise. The power wires and the RCAs and speaker wires are on opposite sides of the car. HELP!

Answer:
You are missing the alternator capacitor. ~
