Questions & Answers
Question : how much to replace whole power steering system in a 300ZX Turbo?
I'm looking into buying a used 300ZX twin turbo but it is leaking power steering fluid and i don't know where it is coming from. I would like to know an estimated price of how much it would cost to replace the entire PS system just for a worst case scenario reference point. I would really appreciate it if people don't tell me to call a nissan on dealer or tell me to search through some websites. I would just like a straight foreword answer. Thanks.I know i don't need power steering, i dont even really care if it works, It's just dripping on the belts and it causes them to slip. I just want to know what i would be getting myself into if say the whole system was shot.

Answer:
i own a shop, and id say for everything about 800 bucks for everything ,labor included also,id make sure the car is worth doing that much work too, that's a lot to spend on it,and that's just an average price also, some shops will charge a lot more on this one,it all depends on the shop, and where they get their parts at,good luck with it.

Question : Why is my full hydraulic steering system overheating?
I built a mud bogger with full hydraulic steering. I used the stock steering pump, a danfoss steering valve, and a 1" hydraulic ram. The system works, but it immediatly overheats within a minute or two. Do I need some kind of pressure relief valve?

Answer:
creat a heat convector(steel pipe in a spiral)this will disipate the heat,it happens on cars too.dont forget to fill up;)

Question : What do I do if I want to upgrade a steering system on a 1960's Lone Star boat and upgrade the outboard.?
I just got a 1960's 14 foot lone star boat, it has an old mccolloch outboard that is 25hp, with a strange steering system, must be old school. What do I have to do to get a new outboard to work with this system or all together update the steering system? I would like to get a 40hp outboard instead of 25.

Answer:
What kind of "strange steering system"? Is it cables and pulleys? Those work OK if properly adjusted. The are a bit complicated and complex. You should be able to adapt a new motor to the system you have. Pay close attention to the way the motor swivels, and hook up the new one the same. You can go here http://www.marineengine.com/products/accessories.php?g=481 (and other sites as well) and buy a complete new cable steer system. They are muce simpler and install neatly. You also need to be sure your boat can handle the HP and weight upgrade. There probably is no data plate on it, but check the transom condition and poke around the website I gave you above. You may find a lot of info about that particular boat.

Question : How do you flush the power steering system?
There are 2 hoses connected to the power steering resorvoir. Which one do I disconnect to drain the fluid out?

Question : How do I bleed air from power steering system in an '03 Impala .?
Would really appreciate it if someone could tell me how to bleed air from the power steering system of an '03 Impala. thanks ever so much.

Answer:
The power steering should be self bleeding. Just turn the wheels back and forth while keeping the reservoir full of fluid. the air should be forced back into the reservoir. If you can't turn the wheel jack the front wheels and turn them from stop to stop.

Question : How do I bleed the power steering system on a honda accord ?
I have a honda accord 1.8 vtec se its a 1999 V reg. I have just bought a power steering pump as my old one was leaking and the bearings where damaged. I plan on fitting the pump this weekend just wondering how I would bleed the system of any air that may get into it?? Any help would be a great help,.

Answer:
Turn the steering wheel all the way left then all the way right slowly with the engine off after putting in the new pump and fluids. Repeat this several times . If your old one leaked out, dirt could have gotten in so a good way to clean out the gritt is to use transmission fluid instead of power steeringng fluid as it runs cleaner and will actually clean it out. However this does NOT work both ways. DO NOT EVER PLACE POWER STEERING FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION!! It will kill your car! lol Good Luck!

Question : How do I get the air out of a 2002 Escort power steering system?
The air in the power steering system forces the fluid out ot the cap on the p.s. reservoir. I've tried everything. Is there a special p.s. fluid I need?

Answer:
You shouldn't need to. It's a continuously cycling system. If you have the correct fluid in there, it should tell you what type on the cap, then you have a problem besides air.
