multi-use & multiple application product

I am using these for a brace between the rear bumper and the tailgate when I have the tailgate of my pick-up down so that it won't over-extend and damage the hinges. I'm very happy with its bracing and cushioning properties. They are excellent for motor mounts but have many other applications. They are very in-expensive.

Wrong Size Description

The worst experience in buying online is that what you see is NOT what you get. When you shop in a local store, you get the right size because you can see (or measure) it. On internet, all you depend on is the description. The size description of 7 x 1 x 5 inches is totally wrong. The correct size for each rubber block should be 3.46 x 1.3 x 1.93 inches, or 88 x 33 x 49 millimeters. Amazon should have some quality control on this matter. BTW the weight 11 Ounces are correct for combined weight of the two blocks.

Two Way Spring Adjustment

Gr8 Product Will recommend to any buyer, two items in one package - unlike other spring boosters this can be used to lift or lower spring, had this installed on my Nissan Skyline to add a little height to the back, very impressed with it, easy to install and you can adjust height to suit your taste as compared to rubber boosters that can burst and have one height, just jack up your vehicle and install,

Questions & Answers
Question : How to put coil springs on a 1991 Jeep Wrangler?
I was wondering if there was a kit to let me take the leaf springs out of my 1991 Jeep Wrangler and put coil spring in it instead? If so where would I find one at?

Answer:
Their are 2 kits. One by FABTECH & the other is by Superlift/Black Diamond. These are NOT a DIY kit if you are not handy with a welderThe Fabtech is a bit much for the stock Dana 30/35 axles. Both kits are fat bank too. But hey, If you've got the capital...go for it!You want to modify the YJ I'd check out the Rocky Road website.

Question : How important are rear coil springs?
I was told that my left rear needed coil springs over 3 years ago. I have drove the car 35,000 miles since this time. I have a 1995 chevy lumina. I just never got the spring replaced and feel I will take my chances with it. I have drove the car enough with a bad spring. What is the worst that can happen if a spring fails and does it sound like it can still happen to me?

Question : How miles do u change your Coil springs?
1993 F 150 200000 miles 2x4 4.9 motor Coil springs never be changed wondering how often should u change them or how do u know when they should be changed ThanksNew heavy duty shocks on the truck all four but it still goes up and down real bad with I hit bumps I have heavy duty leaf springs on the back I want to know about the coil springs up front. If that is the problem.

Answer:
Change them if the truck is sagging or bottoms out easily.

Question : what is the part called right above the coil springs?
the real term...my mechanic said the front coil spring turrets were corroded. that thing that sits right on top of the springs. i'll need to replace them and need the real name.1993 jeep cherokee 4x4strut mount...looked that up, might be it.

Answer:
a strut mount assuming you are speaking of a mcpherson type suspension or captured spring.

Question : coil springs?
Now I have the coil spring conversion set, can these be put on by do it yourself, or will it have to be taken to an auto shop?

Answer:
I don't think that a home hobbyist will have the necessary tools and/or expertise to install the springs properly.

Question : How do you remove the coil springs on a 2003 mazda protege?
I am replacing the coil springs on my '03 protege, i have a basic understanding but i could use a walk through. Thanks!

Answer:
I strongly urge you to use spring compressors before you attempt to remove the springs. I am unable to walk you through the steps, but an auto manual may be of help.

Question : One of the coil springs broke on my 2001 Volvo xc70, does the other need to be replaced?
The dealer is telling me to replace them both. He is also telling me to repair the vehicle the way it should be repaired I have about $4700 in repairs! What a joke. He says that if I don't replace the other coil spring the car will not drive correctly. Is that true? If so, I may have him fix the broken coil spring and take it to another repair shop for the other!

Answer:
Think about it. Coil springs get weak over time. That is why one broke. If you put just one new one on, the other one is weaker and it will drive odd. Plus the new one will place more strain on the old one and it will soon break too and you have to go through the same process over again. Just do not have it done at the dealer. They charge too much. Any shop with ASE certified mechanics can do the job just as good and with less cost.

Question : What are the industrial applications of small coil springs?
I've been wondering in what context small coil springs are used... Are there any industrial or product applications, such as parts in machining? I'm talking about springs shorter than 2 inches.

Answer:
ball pen springs are about 1 inch longin electronics (microwaves) we use springs 0.0005 dia by 0.003 inch long!for the same purpose, to hold something in place under tensionAnita

Question : Can I drive my car without my 2 front coil springs installed?
I have a 1969 Chevy Impala Convertible and I was upgrading my suspension. I have completed the rear suspension of my car, which consists of 2 rear coil springs and 2 rear shock absorbers. Now, the front suspension is giving me some trouble, I already have the front suspension taken apart. Both front coil springs and shock absorbers are already out of the car and I have my car up safely on jackstands. I am having trouble getting my springs back in their pockets as my new springs are about 3-4 inches taller than my old ones. I know it would be harder to get them in, but even when I tried putting my old ones back in I was still having some trouble. I fully compressed the old spring with a compressor and got it back in between the frame rail and the lower a-arm pocket, but everytime I think Im going to get the lower a-arm jacked up to the spindle to lock it in place, the car begins to lift up. Can I drive my car to the shop,15 blocks away, with no front springs so they can reinstall them? Also, I can reinstall my heavy duty shocks to at least absorb some of the punishment without the springs, but do you think I could drive the car like 15 blocks so they can reinstall my springs?

Answer:
Here is how to get the springs back in. Get one of the compressors that fits inside the spring, after compressing the spring with the 2 outside compressors, take the nut off and one side off the single compressor, then fit it through the spring, on the side the nut came off of, slip the bolt through the upper shock mount hole and tighten it down with the nut. Now remove the outside spring compressors, and tighten up the inside spring compressor till the lower arm can be jacked to where the spring sets in place. Then put the front end parts back togather, and slowly back off the pressure on the spring, and the compressor will slide out the bottom controll arm, then you just put the shock in. I do it like this on my 68 an 69 GTO's, which should work on the Impala. Make sure you have someone with you to help watch everything. It is actually very dangerous to do if you don't pay full attention.

Question : Was I charged an appropriate amount for the replacement of my 4 coil springs?
Hello. I have a 1999 Ford Escort. My left rear coil spring is broken. My mechanic told me it was the best idea to replace all 4 of the springs and it would run me in between 800 and 900 dollars. Is it necessary to have all 4 replaced and if so, is that a fair amount? Thank you.

Answer:
i work in the parts department of a ford linc merc dealer. ford sells each spring individually. do the math!! how long are you keeping the car?? if your are planning on keeping the car less then a year, i would replace only the one spring. if you aren't planning on getting rid of the car anytime soon, then do both rears. another option might be getting a used strut assy, complete with spring for the one that is broken. that would be a good option if the car is a high mileage unit. escorts of that era have a problem with rear springs breaking. there does not seem to be a problem with the front springs on those years (97 thru 03) escorts. so replacing the front springs may not be needed. i think your mechanic is trying to "up-sell" you a little too much. labor rates vary across the country, so its hard to tell if the quote is too high. if in doubt, call a couple of his competitors in the area.
