Customer Review :

Installed on an FJ

I was hoping that I would not have to cut/trim anything, but I did b/c of some plastic overhang on the FJ. It works great and fits nice and snug.

Pros:

Very easy to follow directions --- hot line in, hot line out, and ground are marked extremely well
Light ---- not too bright, but just enough to yield a cool look.
Feels durable
Good switching mechanism --- on/off

Cons:

Only that I had to trim a little to get it to fit perfectly.

Customer Review :

nice switch

this seems like a pretty solid switch. i used it to replace the switch that came with my ipf driving lights which was pretty cheesy. i did have to modify the factory switch opening with a dremel tool to get it to fit. other than that, it looks good and works well.

Questions & Answers
Question : I have a 2000 chevy s10 that is not getting any power to the fuel pump.?
I'm getting power to the black connector which is the fuel guage and no power to the white connector was is the pump. I have checked the 20 amp fuse which is fine, the relay was switched with the horn relay and the horn works with both relays so that is out. Any body have any solutions

Answer:
Is there power at the relay box terminal? Also look to see that connector in relay box hasn't come unlocked and pushed down. Best I can say for now is carefully check frame rail wiring for a short, open or contaminated connector/wire if the relay and fuse are good and have power to them.

Question : Yamaha dsp AX1 problems?
Hi,when i turn my amp on sometimes 1 of the speakers wont work(normally main left or rear right)i have to use the test button to check and then turn amp off and on again then a different speaker wont work,it takes a few goes before they all work and then its ok untill i use it the next time.I know its nothing to do with the speakers or cables as i have checked all this.I have heard of this problem with the ax1 its something to do with the switch relays on the pre outs but cant find much about it on the net.Does anyone have any ideas what i can do?Thanx

Answer:
I took this extract from a website. This is a problem of the Blade switches behind the Output RCA terminals shutting off the internal amps when an external amp is connected. The only solution is to spray oil-based contact cleaner at regular intervals to prevent the blade switches "sticking" to the wrong position when an RCA cable is not connected!http://www.audioreview.com/cat/amplification/a-v-receivers/yamaha/PRD_141136_2718crx.aspxI have now found the solution. The problems lies with the switch relays in the pre-outs for the both the main and center channels. The fix, so to speak is to obtain a simple composite cable and while the amp is on (muted) insert and extract the cable from the pre-out/inputs, do this a few time for each channel and then check levels for each speaker.I have left my previous entry just in case it's also handy. Good Luck.http://www.fixya.com/support/t129627-speaker_loss_sound

Question : what's wrong with cruise control on 2002 mazda tribute?
just bought used. i have tried at speed and nothing lights up on instrument panel. only fuse is 40 amp under hood, and it regulates several other thing that are working. is there a usual suspect in these cases? (switch, relay, connection, etc.) is there another fuse? nearest mazda dealer is 55 miles. would nearby ford dealer have diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot this?

Answer:
try to check it out first on auto repair shop..

Question : 15 amp 120 volt relay?
is ther such a thing... i want 2 dimmer channels and an on/off switch... to i can dim ither channel indepentntly or have both on all the way... is there some relay switch or something???i mean i have a theatre... i wanna have them all dimmed, but at different wattages... then there to be another switch for all to turn all the way on for entry and exit...

Answer:
Yes the equipment is made and it works very well. It is not something for a DIY project. For this you need to contact a lighting design engineer and an electrical contractor to install it properly. The equipment is a commercial design and the last on I installed 6 years ago took 3 months to install. This was for a 600+ person auditorium and probably larger than you need.

Question : i need help on wiring a toggle switch to turn on my amp. the remote turn on relay doesnt work.?
today when i pulled in my driveway, i noticed my amp was still on after i turned the key off. i checked it out and have come to the conclusion that the rem. turn on circut is fried. i disconnected the rem wire and left the power and ground hooked up, and it still stayed on. its a brand new amp and i dont want to spend the money on a new one. how can i wire a toggle switch to interrupt the power supply to it? its 8 gauge wiring. or if a toggle switch isnt the best option, i am open to suggestions.

Answer:
The best way to deal with electricity is to take away the ground! It's safer, and much less complicated, to just break the ground circuit. All electronic devices require a ground and power lead. If you break in the ground wire and place a switch in series to it you can manually turn it on and off.

Question : how to wire an spst slide switch with a relay?
I'm trying to figure out how to wire one of those spst 6 amp 125VAC slide switches to a relay. My power source is a 25 ah 12 volt battery. I'm using this switch to turn on a robot. All I know so far is that 87 contact on the relay is for the electronics.30 will have a fuse between the battery on the + side and contact 30. and 85 is ground I guess. I want to keep the 25 amps going to the relay and the electronics, as I don't want this switch to be big, but I want it to be on the outside of the robot for easy turning on and off. There will be a power LED, small red one to let me know that it's on. Thanks for any help

Answer:
Battery negative (minus) will go to the relay 85 contact, negative of the LED, and the robot's ground or minus.Battery positive (plus) will go to the fuse,The other side of the fuse will go to the switch and the 87 contact of the relay. The other contact of the switch will go to the relay 86 contact.Relays contact 30 will go to the robots plus (positive, power), and to the proper resistor (around 5kohm.). The other lead of the resistor will go to the LED positive contact. Good luck

Question : I've hooked up an automobile amp directly to a deep cycle battery but have no power. Why?
I'm trying to create a mobile sound system which will be pulled on a trailer behind a bike. It will be powered by a deep cycle battery and the input will be from an iPod. I'm using a Pyle marine amp. I've hooked up the positive connector on the amp to the positive terminal on the battery through a power switch and a fuse relay. I've hooked up the remote connector on the amp to the negative terminal on the battery and I've connected a ground wire to the frame of the trailer. I'm getting no power to the amp. The battery is fully charged, the fuses and switch are all good but still no power. It appears the problem might have to do with the remote turn on feature in the amp so I need to figure out a way to bypass the remote turn on to get the amp to power up. Any ideas how I might do this?

Answer:
Yeah like 1000man has said, you need to connect the remote wire to positive as well, and because a trailer has no ground like a car does, you will need to connect the negative of the amp to the negative on the battery, then it should all be good

Question : Need some help on the fog light wiring.....?
Okay, there are those who swear by using a relay, then those who never had. Which is it ? I have my fog lights (55 watts each, only two) wired to a 30 amp switch. If the switch is rated for 30 amps why wouldn't it hold up ? Considering most relays are rated for 30 amps what would be the drastic difference. I do know the reason for using a relay and have no problem re-doing the wiring if it is ABSOLUTELY a necessary measure. But, if the switch is rated for 30 amps and the lights combined are drawing 8.8 amps rounded up to 9, why would the switch fail ? Please help because forums and internet searches have turned up more confusion then answers....

Answer:
i have done it both ways and both work just fine....the only difference is that the relay version doesn't need fuses so u can take them out so less parts to fail.....but if uve already wired it without then leave it alone...

Question : I need to override my cooling fans on 1996 dodge neon!!!?
Ive done it twice now and each time the wire for power has burned. I took the two wires from the fan to a 35 amp switch and from the switch i took one wire to the battery and a seperate wire was for ground. It works fine when driving during the day, but at night that is when it happens. The wire burns up all the insulation was burned off. I did this because the fans did not turn on on their own, the fuse is good and the relay is good too. How could i do this the right way, I did not bypass any thing either for power. I THOUGHT MAYBE IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE HEADLIGHTS BECAUSE THAT IS THE ONLY TIME MY WIRES BURNED DURING THE DAY IT WAS FINE.

Answer:
YOU NEED TO FIX THE REAL PROBLEM!!!!!!!Clearly, if the fans are not turning on when they should there is a problem that needs to be fixed. Doing a Gomer job of rewiring the car in a way its designers never intended instead of addressing that very real problem isn't going to solve anything. If you are not up to the task of properly diagnosing this (hint: its probably the coolant temp switch or sensor) then take it in to someone who knows what they are doing before you cause any more damage than you already have.

Question : 50 amp blade fuse burns out as soon as I turn on the key?
I have a 2000 Ranger I turned it off and it would not start again I have power to head and dome lights, replaced the 50 blade fuse position number 5 in the power management box and it worked for 1 to 2 sec then burnt out again. is it the starter relay, the ignition switch, the starter or something else. anyone have this problem? how did you fix it? any help would be greatly appreciated

Answer:
You have a major grounding/short circuit issue...I'd check all the wiring and components associated with that circuit for pinched or frayed wires or disconnect them all and reattach them one at a time to pinpoint the source of the bad wiring or defective device. You could buy a 50 amp circuit breaker to install rather than a fuse to avoid blowing a lot of fuses while testing. A good repair manual with wiring diagrams may help as well. Eautorepair.net or Alldata.com offer online access for a small fee...Chilton or Hayne's manuals can be bought at parts stores.http://www.therangerstation.com/
