Great product...I ordered two of them. Battery Tender is a slow trickle charger that is good for use on winter stored vehicle batteries. I have a truck with two batteries that I elected not to drive in the snow and road salts of Minnesota winter. The Battery Tenders chargers are being used to keep the batteries in top shape.

Love Me Tender

This little charger/maintainer is great and well built. For the cost, I don't think you should be without at least one if you have Big-Boy toys with batteries that sit for extended times during the off season. This charger is also available in a waterproof version for those soggy situations.

You need one of these

This is great! I have had one of these hooked up to my 2003 Harley Davidson Fat Boy every winter. I am still on the same battery, and it's 2010! I just leave the leads on the battery, so I don't have to remove the battery all the time (if you have a Harley, you know why). I just plug it in, and leave it plugged in all winter. It greatly improved battery life on my last motorcycle as well! I bought a second one to hook up to my Jet Ski and lawn tractor.

Simple solution

I was introduced to the battery tender through a TV show on Speed Network. The item was presented as a method of charging the battery of a car in storage without the deterioration that results from most trickle chargers. I bought this product for my wife's summer car, a convertible that is the Garage Queen through the winter months. The Battery Tender was simple to install, but more importantly, it is easy for her to disconnect if she wants to take spin on a nice winter day. The quick disconnect fit through the grill work and was easily secured with plastic snap ties. The main unit is very small and has a long AC power cord. The DC side has the quick disconnect in the middle and includes a cap to keep out the road grime on the car side of the cord. The price through Amazon beat all the local outlets that I checked before I made the purchase. If your battery is located near the back of the engine compartment you may want to consider the optional 6' extension for the DC side.

I was tired of my RV batteries not correctly maintaining charge. Had used other "Bargain Brand" chargers with poor results. Seems to be working fine. I use it to maintain two 6 volt batteries wired in series. I am monitoring the price of this item and plan to buy another if and when the price drops. (Easy to do if you leave one in your Amazon Cart.

The charger has been on my motorcycle for over a month now w/ no issues. Fully charged the battery from almost no charge and has been providing a steady trickle since then.

I have used this tender for about a month now as of 2/7/2010 and it operates like its supposed to. I installed one extension on my motorcyle (it comes with a bolt on and a clamp on extension) and used the extenson with the clamps for my lawnmower. I should have bought the tender that maintains two batteries at once but oh well! I have to swap out between the two batteries that require attention.

Usefull

I'm using this with a Black & Decker battery maintainer.

I store my collector cars during the winter and I got sick of having to charge or jump them every year. Not to mention replacing the batteries more frequently. I initially bought a style of maintainer that sat up against the battery, had short direct connections which also meant cords between the car and the wall.

Then I bought the Black & Decker maintainers. But, wouldn't you know it the leads were decent in length, but still bridging the gap between car and wall.

Then I found these extensions. Now I got the maintainers mounted on the wall, the lead and extension going up and over a truss and down to the car hood. Cool.

I use this extension to allow me to mount the Battery Maintainer on a shelf in my garage that is near a power outlet. The extension allows me to drape it in the rafters of the garage and then the connections from the battery can come down from above. Before buying this extension I had to set the battery maintainer on the radiator of my truck with its hood up and run an extension cord over for the battery maintainer to plug into. With this extension cord I can unplug the battery maintainer, disconnect the battary maintainer connections from my truck battery and drape them over to the side, shut the hood and drive away. Before it was a hastle to disconnect the battery maintainer and move it over to the side of the garage before being able to drive off. The extension is worth the money to me for that convienence.

Battery tenders a a must for car collectors, auto enthusiasts, motor cycle lovers and really any form of transportation that requires a rechargeable battery. This product is especially useful when some vehicles are dormant for several seasons or are seldom used.

Auto batteries are expensive and the battert tender will significantly extend the life of batteries that are used only part of the time.

good backup in the trunk

Ive used the air tire inflator , and its not powerful, but it does the job...There is a small flashlight that stays charged by the unit...Could come in handy...I havent used the jumper unit itself, but it looks easily accessed...It already came precharged, but i plugged it in for 48 hours as the manual states to do...Might come in handy one day..

Disappointing

did not charge when first received it. after searching on web, it needs to charge by car first. after charging it while commuting to work, finally got full power.
tried to inflate a tire with it, made the tire flat instead. far to weak to be any use.
now just hoping it's good enough to run some small appliance for camping.

About a week after buying the product someone hit a pole on the main street at about 4:10 pm. Power was out - really out.

As it came to dusk I remembered that I'd bought thing and got it out. It provided over six hours of 120 v electricity to light a light that you could read by. Based on the power remaining lights I expect we could have 2 - 3 more hours of 120 v power.

Much better than candles.

These units are cranky

The Duracell DPP-300EP at times does not want to charge, then later for no apparent reason, they will charge. I ordered 2 units. One was defective and had to be returned and one had a faulty charger. When they work right, they are great, but when they don't, they are useless. Amazon made a prompt replacement and did not wait for the defective unit to be returned. It was the most painless and fastest replacement I have ever experienced.

If your tired of replacing your expensive ATV, motorcycle, or snowmobile batteries, this is the item for you. Plug 'em in and forget it. Maintains your batteries at full charge without overcharging. Extends battery life and, with the 2-pin quick disconnect, it takes 5 seconds to connect or disconnect. I have three battery tenders and alternate between three snowmobiles, three ATVs, and a garden tractor. They're a bargain online and way cheaper than replacing batteries.
