Big Pocking Wrench for Drums!

For some reason or another, another reviewer gave what might be considered a bit too much info about the shape of their "bung-hole." As an amateur drummer, I'm not sure what that has to do with drumming, but this Advanced Tool Design Model ATD-5271 Non Sparking Aluminum Drum Wrench definitely doesn't give off sparks when I bang my aluminum drum with it. I suppose if you needed to unplug your "bung hole," this would certainly get the job done. Good luck with that.

I actually wish I could find a sparking model, but I imagine I'd have to use a flint or steel drum. A flint drum doesn't seem like it would make good noise, and I'm not into making calypso music, so I guess I'll skip the steel drum, and stick with aluminum. I still imagine that having sparks fly from the drum would be a neat trick to accomplish in the middle of a solo though... oh well.

This makes for some solid "bangs," as it has a much broader head than the normal wrenches I'd normally consider for use on my drum. In fact, the 4 nibs at the end make it seem like I'm hitting the drum 4 times with one strike. The circle cut-out in the middle makes it all the easier to swing- kinda like those paddles with holes in them.

Practical Lightweight Bung Wrench

I bought this over 6 months ago and I am buying three more as I left the last one behind on a job site. It is so lightweight that I never noticed it in my tool bucket. It worked great about 98 percent of the times I've used it. I use it to open bung type caps on 2" NPT valve openings. The compact design fits into contricted areas well. Occasionally a plug is so tight or frozen and the access so restricted that it won't work and will slip out when lager force is applied. Wish I could find something on a 1/2" drive socket for these rare instances. It has never damaged itself. The slot on the tail end is for removing the vent cap on some barrels. When draing waste liquid back into a barrel via a funnel remove the vent plug so you don't get liquid burped back onto yourself.

Good tool for a good price

This is a good tool for a standard drum bung cap removal device. This is the second time I have purchased several of these for chemical usage. Good material at a decent price. Recommended.

Wow, this thing is awesome!

Well, what can I say? How can you really review a drum wrench? The wrench is aluminum so it is very lightweight. Also it won't spark if you clang it against something, so you won't blow yourself up accidentally.

My bung hole is slightly oblong, so I had trouble getting my plug in place tightly by hand, or by using anything I had laying around in my garage. The wrench allows me to plug the bung hole securely to prevent leakage.

Overall, it is a really perfect drum wrench.

Customer Review :

Highly effective one-man bleeder (works for women, too)

I bought this bleeder and a spare reservoir cover for my BMW K1100LT, threaded a barbed fitting into the reservoir cap, installed "speed bleeders" and now can power flush my ABS-equipped bike in a few minutes. It is the ONLY way to do this single-handed. Buy two of the catch bottles for the front calipers, and you will be doing this fomerly tedious job every year just because it's so much fun.

No Hassle Bleeder

I was hesitant about buying this product. We have a real expensive power bleeder at work and no one uses it very often. We mostly deal with the old style GM brake reservoirs and the adapter is hard to make work with no leaks. At work we just usually have some one help us if the vehicle won't gravity bleed.
I bought this product for home so I did not have to go through the hassle of have my wife "help" me with bleeding the brakes or wait for her to get home if I were alone. This product is built a lot like a bug sprayer with a pressure gage and a proper attachment for European vehicles. I must say it works fabulously. No leaks and is much better at bleeding hydraulic clutches than any other way I have come across. I have not had it very long but seems to be built well enough to last a long time even if you were to use it professionally in a shop. A longer hose would be nice but once you get the bleeder home you will see that you could add more hose relatively easy if you wanted too. I might do so if I used it every day, but for occasional home use I can get by.
If you have been thinking about this but balked at the price. It pays for itself almost the first time in my opinion.

Easiest way to bleed brakes yet

This is the one of the simplest, easiest, and fastest ways there is to bleed brakes, and you can do it all by yourself. You just have to make sure it's clean and you don't spill brake fluid on your paint, and you'll have freshly bled brakes in a matter of minutes. I use this on Porsche race cars with great results.

Works well, easy to use

I bought this item to assist with the flushing of the Brake Fluid on out Mercedes. It is very easy to use and works very well. Would be nice if it came with more adapters as they are kind of pricey if I want to use it on my other cars.

Rating :

What a time saver! But needs a longer hose

Tho it came without instuctions it wasn't hard to figure out.I think if the hose was a little longer you wouldn't have to set the pump in the engine compartment.Hard to get a solid pump holding it in place or when you need to refill. This way any drips would be on the ground, not under the hood.Other than that it works better than the 2 man pumping system.

Speed Sensor

I had a verrry good experience with the product and the seller. I was having trouble with my Honda Accord's speedometer not working, tranny not going into overdrive, and a decrease in gas mileage because of it. After careful diagnosis, I searched for the sensor on the internet. The usual auto parts companines had the part for much higher price. I found it on Amazon for much lower and bought it. It came in the mail a few days later. I checked it out, installed it and road tested. It works great!

Rating :

Better value than at the dealership

This is an easy to install, inexpensive fix for a common problem in older Honda's. It takes less than 5 minutes to replace, and your speedometer is working again. Much better deal on Amazon than at the Honda dealer.

It was easy to install and very good product i would recommend this seller to anyone.=)

Questions & Answers
Question : can someone help me identify this part of my brake system that leaks?
I would like to know if anyone can identify the block that the brake lines hooks onto that is mounted by the coil spring housing. the structure has some lines coming out of it. one line to master cylinder, one line to each of the two calipers. 1993 ford ranger two wheel drive. Can anyone identify this part, and if so, where would I be able to find a replacement. It is necessary, for my breaks are leaking around this area.

Answer:
I believe your talking about the proportioning valve, that might be a dealer only item but you can try a parts store, those rarely go bad, make sure it isn't one of the brake line fittings that go into the valve that's leaking.

Question : Regarding Ford Escort's coolant level sensor replacement...?
I have a 1995 Ford Escort LX Sport that runs great (though I keep having to replace the exhaust system), but needs to have the the coolant level sensor replaced. Anyone know how easy it is to replace this myself? I am not a beginner when it comes to car repair (have done my own brakes, oil changes, belts, alternators, starters, selenoids, tune-ups, etc), but have never touched any sensors before, I would like to know what I am getting into before I decide to track down the elusive part and skip the ASE Certified mechanic. Thanks!!Also, would like to know how essentail this part is. I have a trip planned soon and if I can get away with not replacing it until I get back, I will.

Certificate that is the standard for the industry. This certification can be acquired in many areas, such as master truck mechanic, gasoline engines, drive trains, brakes, suspension and steering, electrical and electronic systems, or preventive maintenance inspection. One last and most important thing a technician needs is tools, lots of them too. Because most employers don’t have tools and mechanic with out tools is worthless because they have no way to get work done on a project.A technician must complete at least one of the A.S.E. exams and prove they have credible work experience of two or more years to receive a certification in a desired are. Credible training or experience can be from 2 years of formal training at school, trade school, or a collage. Technicians also have to pass the test once every five years to ensure there up to date with the constant change in technology (career overview.com/diesel mechanic and technician career overview)Most sops nice places to work depending on how clean, noisy, lighting, ventilation, and many small factors like sometimes you have on the road job where u have to repair a truck on a highway so it can make it to a shop in all seasons. While working you need to be physically fit to lift heavy parts and set them on to jacks and hoists, and may receive small cuts, bruises, burns so proper safety should be taken first. Technicians are always handling greasy tools, parts and also stand or have to lie down on funny positions to get the job done right and fast. Most technicians will work about a forty to fifty hours a week depending on how busy they are and if they have an emergency repair. Many shops have made it to where they may be working on trucks 24 hours a day to help out the customers, with this that makes the job employment ever greater.( careers.stateuniversity.comDiesel-Mechanic)Because many experienced technicians are employed by truck fleet dealers and independent repair shops receive a commission related to the labor costs charged to the customer, weekly earnings depend on the amount of work completed. Beginners usually earn from 50 to 75 percent of the rate of skilled workers and receive increases as they become more skilled. Most technicians are starting to work around the clock because of the demand. (Job salaries/collegegrad.com/careers)How did you start? After graduating high school, I spent 4 years as an apprentice, auto mechanic, and then I branched over into heavy equipment and eventually trucks. What are your required to do? A diesel mechanic is expected to diagnose and be able to overhaul a diesel engine top to bottom, refitting new parts where needed. Is it what u expected it would be, or different? You get a lot dirtier working on diesels than other engines and they smell a lot different. What’s the shop environment like? Shops are either very noisy when a few engines are running, or as quiet as a library, when they are being worked on.What wages do you make? Some shops are now paying $30.00 or more per hour for mechanics. When I retired I made $18.00What’s your favorite part of your job? Every other mechanic I know loves the sound when they start up an engine that they have repaired, it's the biggest thrill. . I enjoyed the work, and it was a great feeling to know you could fix anything that moved, or moved other things with great power.Did u go to school for it, also how did u pay for school? I did not pay for schooling, it was part of the apprenticeship program, but expensive tools must be bought along the way. At retirement, mine had a replacement value of $20,000.00

Question : VW Bug Brake value replacement?
Hi, i have a 1969 volkswagen bug. Time to time on of my wheels looses its brake. My mechanic said that one of the values which exist between the brake line and the master pump might getting blocked and have to replace it. But the problem is i couldn't find those values since they are out of stock in my country. So what the part dealer said was to connect the line without the value. 1. What kind of a work those values does in the brake system ?2. If those are removed what is the bad side of it ?Thank you in advance.Gayan,Well there are 3 small cylinder kind thing which are connected to the master cylinder and the 3 brake lines are fixed on those 3 cylinder's other end. well as i heard they maintain the pressure in the lines.

Answer:
Valves? You mean the slave cylinders in the individual wheels, or do you mean the valves which are located INSIDE of the master cylinder.?Thre are no other valves that I know of in the lines as VW has a pretty straightforward brake systemSlave cylinders are easy to come by. Go to JCWHITNEY.COM to get them. Now if you are losing pressure in BOTH of the front tires or BOTH of the rear ones, then the suspect is the mastercylinder. Also easy to get.. same source.LASTLY>... check to see if you have a pinhole leak in the actual tubing which would allow air to be sucked back into the lines. That would also cause an individual wheel failure. Look for brake fluid residue on the lines or drops on the groundIn either case, if your mechanic says there are in-line valves, its time for a new mechanic..

Question : My '89 Lincoln needs a replacement integral master brake cyl/booster/controller. Suggestions finding one?
Hey guys, really need help finding an affordable replacement. Please note in my car's setup that the brake cylinder, booster, controller CANNOT be bought seperatly for my nightmare of a 89 continental. For some reason Lincoln had this great idea of making an integrated abs system that year that is terrible to say the least. The part is extremely hard to find and is very expensive from what information I can find. Lincoln phased out the part quickly and there are no after market parts that I can find either. Please help, I've invested thousands of dollars on my credit card to get my car working, I desperatley need this one part so I can have transportation to get to work. If I had the money to buy a new car I would, but unfortnatley thats not an option. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

Answer:
Contact a Lincoln dealer and see if a rebuilt unit is available...Try NAPA...there are also lots of specialty brake repair houses around the country that specialize in rebuilding of obsolete brake boosters...try google...

Question : What is a "Distribution Valve" as it relates to a 1998 Kia Sephia brake system?
I'm being told by my mechanic that my Distribution Valve has gone out on my Kia Sephia. He claims that this part is not usually a common part of a car to malfunction. So I'm having difficulties finding a replacement part. Where can a find this part? OR Would it be best to just get a new car? I saw a different mechanic that told me the part + labor, etc. will cost at least $300! Can anyone please help?!

Answer:
Call the dealer parts department there is nothing in the whole brake system that cost that much except the ABS unit are you sure that's not what he said cause the proportion valve is fairly cheap .

Question : 2000 Ford Windstar fuse 10 blows?
My neighbor has a 2000 Ford Windstar van, the other day they mentioned the speedometer, AC, odometer, and a few other things stopped working, and the ABS light is on.After googling around a bit, I found an article that said it's usually a leaking pressure switch on the master-cylinder...so I sent them the link.http://www.ford-forums.com/ford-windstar/5390-abs-light-no-odometer-no-c-help.htmlToday, they called me and said they replaced fuse 10 (a 10-amp funny enough) and it fixed the problem for about 8-10 seconds before it blew again...so they're going to try and get a replacement switch and install it since that's probably the problem.Anyone know of websites that have (free) guides, diagrams, or pictures of what this thing looks like, how to install it, and if there are any other steps?Does the brake-fluid reservoir need to be drained to do this?Would they need to bleed the system after replacing the part?

Answer:
Guessing, the speed control cut-off switch is leaking fluid, if it is change the switch and clean out the wire harness

Question : Dual Master and Slave Cylinder Clutch replacement bleeding.?
Long story short, I'm doing a dual master and slave change. Don't have both parts yet. Just looking at the future and getting this thing bled single man. So will the following work?1. Get a huge funnel. Big enough to dump a whole bottle of brake fluid in. Maybe two...2. Place the funnel inside the clutch reservoir. Tape it off so it doesn't leak and fill it up with one or two bottles of brake fluid. 3. Put a tube over the bleeder screw running to a bottle with some fluid in it.4. Crack the bleeder and start slowly pumping.5. With a full bottle of fluid in the funnel I should be able to bleed the system and flush the system without opening and tightening the bleeder every pump correct? In other words, open bleeder, pump until satisfied the stream is steady with air and gunk free, then close the bleeder. Basically, one cycle of opening and closing the bleeder screw.First will that work? And second, do I remove the bleeder screw entirely then place a tube in the hole or do I place the tube over the screw?

Answer:
No that will not work.It needs to suck the fluid from the reservoir. With the bleeder open it will just suck air through the open bleeder.Hear is an easy, one man way.Open the bleeder and using your fingers close the bleeder to where it just hits the "seat",barely finger tight.then pump the brakes slowly. The air is thinner then the fluid and the air will expel and it will still have enough seal at the bleeder to allow the suction to happen at the reservoir.Or you can buy a vacuum pump bleed kit from harbor freight.Look here,http://search.harborfreight.com/cpisearch/web/search.do?keyword=brake+bleeding+kit&Submit=Go
