Questions & Answers
Question : Does anybody knows how to adjust the Parking Brake on a 2003 Impala?
I am trying to adjust the parking brake on my car. It rolls when parked on a hill. It rests on the Park Transmission pin or gets Torque Lockout. I adjusted the cable at the turn buckle behind the gas tank. But seems to help just a little bit. Also noticed the system uses a Shoe Brake system for the Park Brake and discs for regular braking. Kind of odd...!
Answer:
Slake adjuster on the brake cable

Question : im hooking up a dual dvd system in my car and i'm trying to figure out how to bypass the parking brake cable ?
ive been trying to research it and from what i understand i have to ground the parking brake cable and it will work at all times but i want it to work only at certain times so i am putting in a toggle switch, the switch has two wires..does one end connect to the parking brake cable right out of the harness and the other wire off the switch goes to the ground on the harness ? would this work ?
Answer:
The toggle switch breaks the circuit so if you're running neg signal through it you need 1 wire grounded to the chasis and 1 going the radio's parking break wire.

Question : corsa sri /new rear brakes/new brake cylinders/ new fluid but will not bleed and pedal travels straight to flo?
had new shoes cylinders h/brake cable emptied system old fluid put new in but will not bleed pedal seems like no pressure anybody any ideas...............
Answer:
Open up all the bleed valves and let the good times roll. You can't bleed the brakes without first filling up the lines with fluid. Your brakes feel mushy because you have air in your lines not fluid. This is just a guess since this is all the info.

Question : Honda brake problems?
1994 Accord EX abs/ 4 wheel disc/ manual transbrake pads all aroundso I followed the manual like always and used my experience from 10+ brake jobs without hitches (only 2 jack stands)I removed rear calipers, blocked linescompressed calipers, painted fronts, reinstalled with new padsmaking sure banjo fittings had washers on both sides.master cylinder lvl was fine throughout processrepeated for the front calipers.following the manual, Using the two man method, we bled the calipers correctly and the ABS.pedal travel got bigger and barely stopped the car.re bled and got worse...no bubbles fluid lvl maintained. Now the brakes didnt even stop the car(used parking brake to stop .. (on cable system)) and no pressure with the car off.....Master cylinder I thoughtgot a reman and benchbled...had to replace one of the lines too (front of MC to ABS unit)now I have brake pressure with car off but not with it on...got a vacum pump but have feeling it's not air tighthelp???
Answer:
May need to get a pressure bleeder to get all the air out. That has to be the problem.I just thought....did you possible put the rear calipers on the wrong sides and have the bleeders at the bottom??? They need to be at the top.

Question : Mtb Brake Cable Constantly Getting Loose?
I have a Shimano ST-EF50 lever, disc brakes with the brand 'Chosen'(??) and i recently switched my brake standard cable to Teflon coated cables. It feels like its constant getting loose. I don't like to squeeze the lever all the way to the grips, but it gets closer all the time. Whats wrong? Is the cable stretching? (both the standard and Teflon cables were still new) Is there something wrong with my setup/system?
Answer:
I assume that you replaced cables AND housing. If not, replace the housing with compressionless type.Your main problem, however, is the brake calipers and the reason that you should never buy a low end bike ESPECIALLY if equipped with disc brakes. To understand this I'll explain in general terms how a mechanical disc caliper works then explain what is going on with yours. There are 2 brake pads in calipers. One is generally fixed (better ones are "floating", but not yours) and another one is movable on what could best be described as a ramp. The caliper body has an opposing ramp on which the movable pad moves. Squeeze the lever, the cable pulls the arm which rotates the ramp, closing the distance between disc and pad and eventualy making contact to stop the bike. Got it? Good.On your calipers, the body is made of metal and the movable ramp is on plastic (or visa versa). Every time you squeeze the lever, the metal forces the plastic out of shape and compresses it. On extended use, say, 100 pulls of the lever or so, the plastic compresses and wears away which means the pad doesn't quite reach the disc with the same amount of force. This requires a readjustment of the cable to bring the pad back into range which in turn causes more wear to the plastic, ad nauseum, until the brake is trashed. In the early days of mechanical discs Promax had a problem that they keyed the plastic actuating arm and fitted it to a hardened metal bolt. This setup failed almost immediately, but Promax finally got it (more or less) correct. So, to repair your bike I strongly suggest that you get rid of the Chosen calipers and get something at LEAST of the Promax level, but Avid mechanicals would be my preference.

Question : Can i put one brake cable on a bmx?
Ive got an "x" Rated bmx, i don't like the brake system on it. At the moment its got two brake cables going through the pivot so it had 360 degrees handlebar turning. I want to put a single brake cable form the bars to the wheel, i don't care if I wont be able to do 360 turns, I just want a single bake cable on my bmx. What would I need and how would I do it?
Answer:
How difficult it is depends on the brake, if you have an upper and lower giro cable then it should be straight forward, remove the giro cables, take off the stem and remove the moving parts of the giro. Replace the stem then run a standard brake cable from the lever to the brake or staddle wire. Some X-rated bmx's have an upper giro cable and two standard cables underneath with no cable stops to fit a straddle wire, in this case it is possible to bodge the brake and make it work but not very well. It is better to remove the brake and replace it with a side pull one, if you removed the front brake then use that.

Question : What is wrong with my 2000 Volkswagen Cabrio braking system?
Hey there,I hope someone can help me out.I noticed that my 2000 VW Cabrio was having some problems stopping (my foot was going pretty far to the ground, not stopping as quickly as I once was able to do). My brother noticed grooves on all four rotors, so we replaced them, as well as the brakes.I was unable to use my car, as I still had the same problem, plus a brake warning light and ABS light. He then put in ABS rings (which got rid of the ABS light), and played around with the e-brake cable (which removed the brake light). The brake pedal still went to the floor.Next up were the rear calipers and master brake cylinder. After bleeding the brakes, all four brakes have pressure when the car is not running. However, once the car is turned on, the brakes go down to the floor. We did not attempt to see if they are grabbing on the road or not. This wasn't an ongoing problem; my car only seemed to have issues stopping about two weeks before we replaced the brakes and rotors, and even then I only had problems with quick stops and after a rainstorm. Does anybody have any clues what could be wrong? Thanks so much!
