Exact Replacement
I broke the hood release handle on my 1999 Honda Civic Si. You have to replace the entire cable assembly. This cable is a perfect replacement. Identical in every detail. Except one - the car silhouette was going one direction on my Honda handle, and the other direction on the Dorman part. Other than that, it is identical in every respect to the factory part.

Doorman912-007 Release Cable issues
This cable does not meet a good quality standard. Once installed it bends when cable is being used. It takes one person to gently pull on the handle while another pounds the hood to finish releasing it. The cable will not make it through a trip to the oil change. The first time someone uses it properly it will break.

Question : How do I release the hood latch on my 2000 Dodge Ram with detached cable?
The hood release cable came detached from the latch under the hood. There is no bit of cable available to pull with pliers. How can I get the hood opened so that I can fix this?
Answer:
you can also trip the latch with a screw driver if you take your time with it and don't get in hurry then you can attach small piece of wire to it and get it to work until you can get one for it,mine broke on my truck over two years ago and i still have a small piece of coat hanger fastened to it to open it with, and it works just fine like that, and didn't cost me anything to repair it,good luck with it.

Question : How do I open the hood of a 92 Buick LeSabre with a broken hood release cable?

Answer:
the cable runs along the radiator support frame so it is hard to get hold of the cable from front of car, if your cable needs replacing check under car by firewall to see if you pull on it from the firewall and pull on the cable with pliers, you may have to cut cable housing

Question : Broken Hood Release Cable on 1988 Honda Civic LX?
My front driver's side tire blew and it broke the hood release cable on my Honda Civic LX. I took it in to the shop and they tried to rig it but the cable broke completely off. I need help opening the hood so I can replace the alternator and then take it to a shop to get the cable replaced. I heard something about jacking up the car and reaching underneath to try to pop the latch but I'm not quite sure how to do so. Can anyone help me with this? Thank you.
Answer:
May be this can help. Release the bumper of the Honda Civic LX, and you may have space to reach the hood lock by hand or rope.
