The MAGNUM is an upscale version of the Handi-Heat, featuring two powerful magnets and expanded heating surface. It can be used in many of the same applications as Handi-Heat, plus its larger size makes it ideal for use on trucks, diesels and farm machiner

Customer Review :

So far so good!

This item showed up at my door looking like it had been sloppily assembled right outside my home before delivery; sticker/label skewed, bubbled and torn; and the handle had to be tightened because it was loose. I am rating this product a three for a few reasons: 1) it has only been used half a dozen times so far 2) it is not exactly a state of the art, highly technological piece of equipment 3) it has performed well so far 4) and it does operate at the correct heating range; give or take a few degrees

On another note; if I where rating this item based on appearence, shipping speed, and performance when tasked under inclement weather (when it gets below 20 degrees or less and 10mph winds or greater)this item would get about a single, solitary star......because they won't let me rate it lower.

In the fairness business though, my opinion is; if you are not going to work this unit continuously, day in and day out, it is probably a safe expenditure.

Plant Manager

I bought this heater for my 21HP diesel tractor I live in Mass and the winters are pretty cold I used to have to glow the plugs for up to 10 minutes to get it to start and some times it wouldn't even start then with this little guy I just slap it on the oil pan for as little as a 1/2 hour before I want to use it. I Glow the plugs or 30 seconds and she fires right up. It pops right back off the oil pan and I toss it on the shelf until the next time I need it.Kat's 1160 300 Watt Magnum Handi-Heat Magnetic Heater

Heating the Engine

This product has saved us tons of time when we need to get the tractor started in the cold winter. It has always worked great. I would buy another one if I needed it and would suggest it to anyone who needs to heat the oil pan, block or other engine parts.

Engine Block Heater

Used it once on a very cold morning for three hours; car started quickly without hesitation. Very easy to use.

Rating :

block heater

this is ok but you should probably leave it plugged in over night if you are to use your tractor the next day if it is cold around 30, a few hours isn't enough especially for a diesel, pretty hard to start in the cold, it is ok to leave it plugged in all night.

Customer Review :

Looks Like this Will do the Job

Fortunately I haven't had to use this heater yet, but I have tested it and it looks like it will do what I want. I bought it mostly because we have a PTAC (heat pump) on our sunroom that has a fan that will get clogged with ice once or twice a year if it rains from the right direction and then the temperature drops below freezing. This heater should be adequate to thaw out the sump so I can siphon out the rainwater. It is also compact enough to fit on the oil pan of my small diesel tractor should I need to use it there.

Boat owner/ fisherman

Very good product and extremely great price. Use it on my boat engine during storage in the winter. Keeps manifolds from freezing and water pump the same. I put one on my well holding tank as well.

easy to install very warm block heater

Worked perfectly out of the box. Gets my home generator engine quite warm. I live where it gets down to 30 below. I really need this to keep my emergency generator in condition to start when it is cold. The magnet is no wuss. It adheres very well to the engine.

Magnetic engine heater (Auto)

Used two of these heaters on my small block stored in an unheated garage. Results were outstanding! Using two small heaters allow placement on both sides of the lower block and are more than sufficient to maintain engine safely down to low teens.

Multi purpose, used on snowblower, lawnmower, antique tractor, waterline in barn. I like its versitility, but this is my second one as the first gave out after only one and a quarter winters.

Very Handy Tool

Amazon suggested buying this tool by their system that suggests similar items as you shop. I had been considering this type of ring expander for a while. It arrived in a couple of days and I used it a day later. Worked great on the little Cosworth Ford engine I'm rebuilding. I have to thank Amazon for suggesting it.

Not grounded plug

This product does not have a three prong grounded plug. Otherwise, it sticks and gets hot and does what I wanted it to do. I have these on two small import cars, I would use a higher wattage model for a larger engine.

Rating :

works like a charm

This heat pad is just what i needed.i put it on the oil pan of my 860 ford tractor and plug it in for 2 to 3 hours and the oil is nice and warm and the tractor starts right up like its 70 degrees. the temperatures have been in the teens to 20's when i want to use the tractor to plow snow and it sets out in the weather. i would recommend this product.

Misrepresentation

I purchased these heaters under the assumption that they were to heat my auto batteries.
When I received them I was in the middle of other repairs and it took a while (2 weeks) to get ready to install them. I was very suprised at how small they were.
When trying to understand how these units would go underneather the batteries for installation it did not make sense to place them under the batteries for fear of rubbing a hole in them.
DigKats 24150 150 Watt 4"x 5" Universal Hot Pad Heaterging out the small instructions I noted it said "not for use on batteries.
These were pretty expensive units (25 each) for them to state NOT to use them for the reason they were purchased.

Excellent heater!!!

I bought a new oil pan because the old one was very rusted, and I wanted to make sure the heater would stick. I cleaned off the surface meticulously with acetone, then stuck on the heater. I prepared some "steel" 5 minute high temperature epoxy and used a knife to spread some around the edge of the heater, to discourage it from peeling off (I do not know if this is required, but I just didn't want to take chances)
My oil pan holds 4 quarts of oil, and in just 3 hours of heating on a timer the oil is nice and warm - the pan feels warm to the touch, and when I take the dipstick out, the end of the stick is warm too. By doing this you will NEVER have a cold start first thing in the morning, so your engine wear will be greatly reduced, plus the oil will last longer because a warm engine is much easier on the oil than a cold engine.

Rating :

Like it but needs a GROUNDED plug and longer cord!!

Works very well on the oil pan. I leave it plugged in overnight. The car starts like a charm and in 15 degree weather I have warm air from the heater within half a mile. BUT...it really needs 3-prong wiring and another foot of cord. I'd happily pay an additional dollar for that!

No one in the aftermarket wants to be forced to source parts from, or send their customers to, the OE dealer. The better alternative is Dorman OE Solutions, a line of application-specific, new-to-the-aftermarket hard parts. OE Solutions products are often Dorman-engineered to be better than the original OE design. OE Solutions products are competitively priced to their OE alternatives and often include components necessary to complete the job that the OE Dealer charges extra for or does not make available. Customer Review :

it works..

After over 100K miles (and days after having replaced a coolant leaking intake manifold gasket) on the second plastic cross over manifold on my mustang I noticed a small crack near the passenger side temp sensor that was weeping coolant and upon disassembly a three inch crack in progress where the cross over was getting ready to burst.

I did not want to pay the outrageous prices ford dealers charge for NPI aluminum cross over intake manifolds nor do I like any of the solutions to use a PI manifold on NPI heads (due to cost and/or engineering reasons depending on the method) so I went with the dorman hoping for the best.

On the plus side the manifold is made in the USA, it fits, and the install of the manifold itself doesn't have any special issues to deal with. It's far cheaper than what ford dealers charge for the NPI manifolds. (Ford PI manifolds can be found for just a little more than what this Dorman manifold costs)

On the minus side the molds that make the pieces at the intake ports were designed with a parting line inside the ports. The resulting draft creates material that will block some of the airflow or cause less than ideal flow. There was also some flash in there on the part I got. I removed this material with an xacto knife and a dremel to smooth out the ports. This clean up made it much more like the ford manifold. It was far less material than seen on dorman manifolds for other applications and probably would not make much difference, but I didn't like it so I took care of it.

The included alternator bracket does not work on a mustang. It interfered with the tubes that go across the top of the manifold. My dremel and a bench grinder were used to cut away the big 'plate' that was on the dorman bracket but not the OEM one. Also be aware that if your car has COP the coils are held in place by thread cutting screws instead of having threaded inserts. Mine doesn't so that wasn't an issue.

I haven't driven the car much with the dorman manifold on so I can't say if there has been any change in power. it seems to be about the same, maybe a little less, but from what I could find on the mustang and crown vic forums that the NPI dorman vs. NPI ford is the same power wise.

Also of note, if leaking coolant has caused any additional wear-and-tear on some of the spark plugs or the coils have gotten weak with age (or both in my case) upon re-assembly misfires of some degree will make themselves known even if there were no obvious problems previously. If misfires show up after wards check the gap on the plugs that were flooded with coolant and the coil packs. Also check for boiled down coolant sludge inside the spark plug boots.

Dorman Intake Manifold-Mercury Grand Marquis

Good product. Comes with all necessary gaskets and new thermostat. Injector O-Rings are NOT included and should be replaced during procedure.
Instructions are almost non-existant so if you have never changed an Intake Plenum or are not mechanically inclined and have not worked on cars much you had better get a Ford Manual before starting work.

Perfect

Replaced my OEM manifold with this one, and so far I am very pleased. I noticed a big increase in torque and horsepower on my 96 mustang gt. my mechanic wanted 400 for this manifold and 380 for labor. i purchased this one, the exact one that my mechanic was going to get for me off of amazon for 190, installed myself and saved a lot of money.

I received the intake in a few days and it was a perfect fit with all the correct hardware. It takes most of an 8 hour work day to remove the old intake, clean everything and then install the new intake.

Fixed a headache

My 97 T-Bird had a very bad coolant leak and I had to add water every day to keep it from over heating, the leak was not at the typical area for these manifolds, it was at the heater hose return, it had cracked down the peace of plastic that the hose clamps onto.
By the way the manifold I replaced was not the original it had already been replaced from the warranty one time before.
I think Ford should have to replace these throughout the life of the vehicle.
The unit I purchased from Amazon was a perfect fit, it went in without a hitch and has cured my leaking problem.
This is a quality part from a quality source.
I searched everywhere and Amazon was the best place to purchase this item from, I even have a friend who works for a company that gets these manifolds at wholesale and Amazon still beats their price.
If you need one of these buy it here you want be sorry...

Question : jeep charging system problems?
so hears the story, i have a 93 Cherokee with a lot of accessories, (sound system, high wattage lighting, etc....) so one day i noticed i was starting to put out less volts than i normally do, (its not a faulty gauge either, i have 3 in the jeep, monitoring different things. so my first thought was i finally killed my alternator, i knew it was going to happen one day. so i ordered a high out put alternator (165 amps), when it arrived i put it in first thing, went to test it and it does not seem to be doing any better than the stock 90 amp, im kinda thinking it could be the voltage regulater, thats because if im idling and than load it down to battery voltage 12.6, than i stop loading it, it wont come back up to 14 volts unless i rev the engine, so i went to the auto parts store and requested a voltage regulator, come to find out there is no seperate voltage regulator, im not sure but i think its integrated into the ecu (am i right, cuz im not sure?), if it is, i just happen to have another ecu lying around i could put in. but other than that i am lost any suggestions?

Answer:
could be the battery is going bad advance auto will check the battery and charging system for free

Question : if i did and serious damage to car alternator or any other engine part?
i was using a jump N carry pro start/charger 600-12 volt Dc . 1700 peak amp car battery charger to start my car since battery was dead. what i did was place the postive clamp from charger to negative post of car battery. when i notice smoking coming from the inside of charger then a pop noise . i am sure i burned out charger but i am wondering if i did any damage to car

Answer:
Start the car if it starts and the alternator isn't charging, check the fuses. If that doesn't fix it, bring it into a shop. The fuses should blow preventing serious damage, that's why they are there.

Question : What should i add to my car first, a really nice sound system or some engine parts to make it go faster?
If i went with the sound system a would go with 2 12" subs. and of course an amp or two. then probably JL, DD, or IDmax's for the brand. And then i would go with some Focal side speakers(nice ones). And then to top it off a sick deck. probably alpine or kenwood. OR...... i could go with the engine parts. I would go with DC Sports Race Headers, Apex GT Spec Cat-Back Exhaust, and AEM Cold air Intake. I really want to do all of it but i dont have that much money.. I really cant decide wheather to make it sound nice or go fast first! Please leave any help!!!

Answer:
Neither. Save your money. Cars a very expensive and addicting hobby. Don't get started!

Question : Ford, 2000 Taurus, Engine cooling fans don't come on.. problem continues..?
So I have resorted to the shot-gun effect of replacing parts.... I replaced the Engine Temp. Switch.. that feeds the computer.. not the dash one. I also replaced what I thought was the main start relay for the fans from the fuse block under the hood up by the battery .. but the Chiltons/owners manual never says.. cooling fan relay... so I changed that one that said "fan start relay" or something to that effect ... (I used the new one as a tester to compair the others to)... so I checked each relay (the larger ones) power in & out and got it to "click" and with the continuity checker the switch to assure contact between the switch part of the relay is functioning... so far... everything seems to be working? The main 40 amp fuse is good... the duel cooling fans should be kicking on when I run the A.C. and temp gauge is on the high side... but nothing... nada... what am I missing... possibly does anyone know exactly which relay kicks these fans on... (I wiggled connections, checked fuses and kind of at a loss here.. I know it is probably something simple... but can't seem to find it...)Ideas?

Answer:
You should have two systems to activate your fans one is coolant temperature and the other turns it on with the AC. For both to fail is unusual I would check the wiring going to the fan and if you haven't yet check the fan make sure it is working. I once had a car that the wiring burned out to the fan I ended up wiring the fan to a 30 amp relay and triggered it with a ignition on source wasn't pretty but it worked. Good Luck

Question : i have a vauhxall astra 1.7TD izuzu engine ?
how do i put a new wire from battier to the alternator what part of the battier does it go on and alternator and what size of amp wire do i use

Answer:
Why do you need a new wire, it would help us to answer you better if we knew the problem your having. If its the main cable your referring to remove the old one and go to a shop that sells car battery's and alternators they should be able to make one like for like as the cable will need heavy duty crimps put on it and the tools required are rather expensive just to be used once.

Question : 2000 Chrysler Concord 3.2L wont start
I have a 2000 Chrysler Concord, 3.2L engine. I tried starting my car today and all I heard was a click everytime I try to start it. Now all the lights in the car comes on alright, the horn works fine, lights super bright, but when I try to start, its a click. I DON'T know whats wrong with because the last time I started it which was tuesday, it started perfectly fine. Now I have a power wire that was running my amp hooked up to the positive part of the battery. I disconnected it today and when I tried to start it 5 hours later I started getting this problem. I dont know if that was the cause but PLEASE ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. Also someone told me to turn off on off on 3 times for a code and I got a 1684 code from the odometer which when I looked up meant battery has been disconnected since last start. SO PLEASE I NEED HELP ASAP. ANYTHING thank you.

Answer:
I would suggest you remove the battery terminals and clean the terminals and battery posts till they shine.

Question : Should I have to upgrade the electrical system in my Trailblazer for these amps?
I have a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer with all stock electrical parts. I have recently installed a Kenwood KAC-7204 amplifier which is 1000 watts peak 500 RMS bridged at 4 ohms. After this install anytime the system hits at all the car drops to like 400-500 rpm's. I was wondering if this is normal for this small of an amp. All I have other than this amp is a reciever. I could also put in a small amp for the door speakers which I already have. This amp draws 25 amps so it would be a 65 amp load on the electrical system total. What should I do to fix this or could it be that I have a bad alternator or battery? Also what is the output of a stock alternator for my car? I have the LTZ package and the 4.2L inline 6 cylinder engine.

Answer:
most autozones will test the alternator/charging system for free ... that will tell you output of the alternator , remember then you need to subtract needed power for headlights/heaters defrosters ect ...Likely you'll need a bigger alternator

Question : 2000 pontiac firebird v6 engine reduce power light on rough idle problem?
ok i have a 2000 pontiac firebird 3.8 v6. the other day i checked a fuse.. it was the abs batt 2 fuse, and replaced with another 50 amp fuse. after that i started the car and it is running rough and the engine reduced power light is on. it actually did it when my friend started it without the fuse in. now that is in though still engine reduced power. i have it at a mechanic now and he is saying that it is the throttle body and the part cost 900. i dont believe it is the throttle body and it doesnt cost that much???? what could it be

Answer:
Ask your mechanic to record and then Clear this code for you. Pay him his diagnostic fee and drive the car. If the problem is real, you'll be back in no time. Or maybe you caused the problem with the fuse. Good Luck TW

Question : Car problems please help!!!!?
have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier 2.4L and it has 103,000kms on it, I have done reg. maintanence on it since I bought it 1 1/2 years ago and have not had to fix a thing. Anyways..my problem is that it won't start. I had to boost it this morning to get to work and its a 1/2hour drive(all electronics were off on the drive here). I got to work and tried to start it about 1 1/2 hours later and its dead again, apparently the batteries not holding a charge. My b/f looked at it quickly this morning and said it could be the alternator or the battery. My check engine light has been going on and off for the past few months(is this the reason why?).....anyone have any ideas on what it might be, and if so how much it might cost for the parts - my b/f is very mechanical and could fix/install the parts himself. I'm just asking because he did not have time to look at it this morning and I just would like to have some sort of answer so I'm not worring all day long....Thx in advance to all who answer! Additional Details1 hour agoAS I said my check engine light has been going on then off and I don't have $100 to spend to be hooked up to a damn computer just to tell me why the sensor keeps going on then off. And no I have not been ignoring it.41 minutes agoI would also like to add that my alternator is making a high pitch squealing/squeaking noise and that I have a new stereo system hooked up to my battery for an amp & Subs but they are not hooked up.4 minutes agoI'm in Ontario, CanadaFor everyone that keeps suggesting Auto Zone - I AM IN CANADA< WE DO NOT HAVE AUTO ZONES HEREJust for the record "ne_plus_ultra_1" in case you can't read I DO NOT have sub and amp hooked up and they were gifts. And I also do not listen to rap music. I don't need to be critcized by you. I'm just looking for possible answers, hence why I posted this question in Yahoo ANSWERS. Thank you again for all the OTHER answers.

Answer:
Here's what's going on. You alternator is dying a slow and painful death. While it's putting out enough to keep your car running, it's not putting out enough to charge up your battery also. The first clue is that your alternator is squealing, it's a sign of a bad bearing in the alternator. The second clue is that you had to get a jump. Chances are that since this has been going on fo a while it's also taken a toll on your battery, especially if your battery is more than 2 years old. Replace your alternator and sepentine belt now. With your extra stereo equipment this would be a good time to see if there is a higher amp alternator availible. Also going into the colder months, now would be a good time to replace your battery if it's weak.
