Editorial Review :

Catalytic Converter Cleaner helps eliminate "rotten egg" odor. A clogged or restricted Catalytic Converter can decrease fuel efficiency, rob horsepower, cause engine overheating and premature engine wear. Catalytic Converter Cleaner extends time between tune-ups, increases fuel efficiency, and extends the life of your converter. Note: This item can not be shipped 2nd day air.

Customer Review :

It was used but it sounds great

it was used so i had to re pant it and that cost me $20 more so that sucked but it sounds great :)

Nice

These things were inexpensive and sound just like I expected a glass pack to sound. I bought without knowing the inlet and outlet size and assumed they were 2 inch. That was correct but the listing ought to have the pipe size clearly stated in the description.

Rating :

Great value

Couldn't pass these up for the price. The only thing is the description needs to have the I/O diameter listed. They sound great on my P71 crown victoria and are getting a bit deeper with time. Definitely look into these for a low budget muffler!

Rating :

Good but only when used as a resonator

i needed a cheap resonator to replace my custom straight pipe. Came across this flowtech glasspack and did the job. It drastically quieted down my exhaust system. I would only recommend this as a resonator because as a muffler it wouldn't sound that great especially when you can upgrade to a brand name system.

Worthy upgrade to stock exhaust pipe

For $5.50, this is a well worthy upgrade to your stock exhaust pipe. I manage to fit the 2 1/8" inlet exhaust pipe by disposing the upper clamp & do some slight bending of the lower clamp, fit very well for my 2001 Stratus.

Fits B6 Passat perfectly

After reading the reviews, I decided to give these a shot - they were absolutely perfect - look great and are good quality. Definitely better than spending the $80+ for the factory tips.

'07 Passat Wagon

At first it did not look like it would fit. With a little bit of wiggle and pressure it fits right on and it is a perfect fit! Best upgrade investment I made in a long time. You won't go wrong with this purchase.

fits over OEM exhaust tips on a 09+ VW CC

fits over OEM exhaust tips on a 09+ VW CC. tight fit, but it fits (without supplied hardware).

Rating :

Fits great, Rusts easily

Like other VW 2.0L CC owners this fit - without the clamp hardware - I just pushed them on with a light tap. Unfortunately they are already discolored with rust spots. They do not do well in the salted roads in NE Pennsylvania. I'll try to see if I can clean them up in the spring.

Questions & Answers
Question : 1984 Jeep Cherokee -- Want performance w/o loudness!?
We have a 1984 Jeep Cherokee pioneer that we love. We need a new muffler and catalytic converter, everything else within the exhaust system is good and not needing replacement. We need to know what would be best for us. This is a daily driver as well as a toy. We don't want to increase noise, staying as quiet as possible is ideal. We do go off road and would like to gain some performance in these parts though. Any suggestions as to what would work best???Thank you!

Answer:
Go with a stock system.... You either have the 2.8lt v6 or the 2.5 four in that year jeep. A fancy exhaust is not going to give you much on either engine..... trust me you'll be happy. I've been wheel'n XJ's for 10 years !!!

Question : How can I remove and find a replacement for this rusted bolt while replacing exhaust system? (Part#: 15773)?
I have a 2002 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0L. I am putting a Magnaflow dual exhaust system on it but ran into some trouble while removing the old one. This is the bolt that connects the extension pipe (runs to muffler) from the catalytic converter. There is a bracket for each and they are joined by 2 of these bolts. They are soooo rusted that i cannot get them off. We cut through them in between each bracket because we need the catalytic converter bracket. The other one is replaced with a new Magnaflow bracket. We noticed that the bolt gets thin where it meets the bracket so we cant just pull it out. we need to get the rusty nut off but it won't move. How can I remove this bolt and is it possible to find one that changes sizes like that? I have not seen one? A picture from my phone is here:http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc198/MLZaccaroCT/0730082226a.jpgThe hole is as thin as the bottom part of the bolt in this picture. You can see its thicker through the other end. Thanks

Answer:
I would cut it off as close as I could. Then I would drill the old bolt out. Find a bolt that fits through the hole, you just drilled. It will need to be long enough to reach through the next section. It looks to me like it corroded. Any Auto parts store should have bolts to fit it. Nappa I have found has a good assortment.

Question : Is there any way to "legalize" an aftermarket exhaust?
The Story:"My car gets a nasty flat to the point where I need a new tire. So I end up having to barrow the spare car, which is a 94 Honda Accord with a AEM cold air intake, DC headers, and a Tanabe Hyper Medallion exhaust. So literally the week I start driving this car I get pulled over for the exhaust. The part that really bothers is that we have had that car for about 6 or 7 years and no one has ever been pulled over in it for any reason the entire time we have had it, and we purchased the car with all the modifications already done to it. I was driving home from work which is literally about half a mile if that from my house, like so close I should probably walk there but I'm too lazy to. I was not driving over the speed limit or accelerating quickly, which would rev the engine higher. Lastly Tanabe claims that there exhaust are designed to be below 95db.http://www.tanabe-usa.com/exhausts/medalionhyper.aspThe Facts:"Exhaust Systems: Whistle-Tip Prohibition27150.3. (a) A person may not modify the exhaustsystem of a motor vehicle with a whistle-tip.Modification of Exhaust Systems: Sound Level inCompliance27151. (a) No person shall modify the exhaust system ofa motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increasethe noise emitted by the motor of the vehicle so that thevehicle is not in compliance with the provisions of Section27150 or exceeds the noise limits established for the type ofvehicle in Article 2.5 (commencing with Section 27200). Noperson shall operate a motor vehicle with an exhaust systemso modified.(b) For the purposes of exhaust systems installed on motorvehicles with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating ofless than 6,000 pounds, other than motorcycles, a sound levelof 95 dbA or less, when tested in accordance with Society ofAutomotive Engineers Standard J1169 May 1998, complieswith this section. Motor vehicle exhaust systems or partsthereof include, but are not limited to, nonoriginal exhaustequipment. This was pulled directly from the California Vehicle Code which you can find here http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/vcpdf/d... if you have any further concerns. There are also other statutes regarding the catalytic converter, but that isnt California law, it is CARB law.Your vehicle must have a catalytic converter with a functioning O2 sensor attached.Thats it, keep it under 95 decibels, no whistle tip and have a functioning catalytic converter." -copy and pasted from an answer given by "imthevoiceofgod"Which is what I got out of it as well when I read the law. So my true question is: Is there a way to take my car to get inspected somewhere where they can verify that my car is in fact within in the legal limit and give me some type of proof (ie: sticker or card). Or am I just stuck having to get a stock replacement? The exhaust is supposedly legal and all the parts in under the hood are CARB exempt. Even though the car has over 200k miles on it I still think that the car meets the sound limit because its not too loud. But does anyone know where I can find a place like this locally (Southern California), or what I should search for on something like yellow pages? and how much would it run me to do this legally because im pretty sure that the car will pass.

Answer:
CARB stands for California Air Resource Board. Anything not CARB legal is illegal in California. I got pulled over for my exhaust and had to take it to a referee(basically a shop that sees if your car is within Califrnia standards. I got no fine I just had to put a silencer on it and I could never take it off or I would be fined. Always get a muffler with a silencer because they are cracking down hard now on cars with aftermarket mufflers. But what pisses me off is they do nothing to those cars with flowmasters or trucks. like Mustangs, camaros, etc....ADDED........I live in Sac and the only closest place I could take it was more than 70 miles in Modesto. Try contacting the CARB website and ask where can i get my car refereed. They should be able to help. And if your decibels are under the legal limit take your paperwork to court and show them. Your ticket should be removed.

Question : I have a ford mondeo 2.0L automatic gearbox problem.?
I bought a 1998 ford mondeo 2litre automatic car. When I change gearshift to Drive postion or accelerate, there is vibration to my car. My car had a breakdown on roadside. when I put gearshift on Drive, first or second gear, I cannot drive the car forward. I can just drive backward. The guy who's from roadside rescue company to check the exhaust hose of gearbox. He told me that there is a smell which come from rub of metal and need to a replacement of gearbox. It will cost me much money to fix it. Do I really have to do that? Is there any malfunction of parts of transmission system to result in this problem? Thanks.

Answer:
It sound slike the brake bands in the gearbox are worn or out of adjustment, could also be a lack of gear oil.. you need to have it checked by a auto box specialist.. low on oil will give off a burnt smell and the oil will be discoloured,

Question : Am I reading this law right?
According to the law "No person shall disconnect, modify or alter any part of that system inany manner which will amplify or increase the vehicle's noise emission abovethe noise limits established in subsection (3) of this section, excepttemporarily in order to make repairs, replacements or adjustments."(3)"Any vehicle subject to the provisions of this section shall at alltimes be equipped with a noise suppressing system or other device which limitsnoise emission to a base level of not more than ninety-six (96) decibels"Well my transmission was going out the car was running really loud and all of a sudden it broke and the car roared. We were trying to fix it, but the cops were called on us and they told us we had to have a stock exhaust on any car we drive. I pulled this from my states law book and it sounds that if you are repairing your car it is fine to exceed 96 and that you can have an aftermarket exhaust if it isn't higher then 96. Am I reading this right? Also, the people who called the cops said we were speeding and doing burnouts, which we were not. They are the HOA of the neighborhood so what should I do about that?

Question : Who knows about Tacoma's?
I have a 2002 Access cab 2.7L Tacoma. The exhaust system from the header rite on down is completely shot and needs a complete replacement. Does anyone know where I can get the parts to do it for a good price? Does anyone make a complete kit? I know how to work on vehicles including all my trucks but I can't find all the parts very easy and I can't seem to find a complete manifold to tip kit. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!!!

Answer:
we have had problems with people buying aftermarket exhaust systems and putting them in their toyotas. the problem is that the catalytic converter HAS to be just right: right size, and it has to be as efficient as the toyota one. or else a check engine light will come on sooner or later.so you are best off buying from the dealer. the problem is that it's very expensive. but you won't have a problem installing it or in the long run.hope this helps.

Question : Regarding Ford Escort's coolant level sensor replacement...?
I have a 1995 Ford Escort LX Sport that runs great (though I keep having to replace the exhaust system), but needs to have the the coolant level sensor replaced. Anyone know how easy it is to replace this myself? I am not a beginner when it comes to car repair (have done my own brakes, oil changes, belts, alternators, starters, selenoids, tune-ups, etc), but have never touched any sensors before, I would like to know what I am getting into before I decide to track down the elusive part and skip the ASE Certified mechanic. Thanks!!Also, would like to know how essentail this part is. I have a trip planned soon and if I can get away with not replacing it until I get back, I will.

Answer:
For the sake of 10 pound replace it, it is easy to do and willtake about 10 minute's, without it you will not know therunning condition of your car I,E temperature, and the normalthings that can go wrong when you temperature hits the Red...

Question : Can oil be cleaned out of an exhaust if the Turbo Charger has been dumping it straight in there ?
Our Peugeot 807 MPV broke down and was towed to this garage - a garage we did not know in Southampton. They have now had it since October !! The MOT has expired in the meantime and the road tax. They sent off for 4 Turbo Charger's but first 2 were dud's - they say they have to send off our one to get a replacement - WHY ? So of course each attempt to get one takes days/week at a time. The 3rd one had different mountings and had to be returned to get our original sent back - but how can we be sure it WAS ours anyway that we were getting back ? The 4th was fitted - alas the on board computer had now shut off - thinking, I'm told that it had been in an accident - so off it went to the Peugeot Dealer - they were very nice and I asked if they could do the MOT at same time - it failed due to CO2 emissions from exhaust. I asked if they could sort it out and I would deal directly with them but they said no because it was a job from another garage - all rather odd. A lad tried to drive it back on saturday but had to call out for a low loader as he said he flooded the whole 2 ways of the road with thick white smoke !!! This is what was happening when it was towed in - so we seem no further forward. HELP The garage now says it needs a complete new exhaust system so I won't get much change out of £1000 !! on top of the £400 we have already paid. I am at my wits end with this garage. When I said I didn't need a genuine Peugeot part could they get a Bosal or any generic parts he said he would no longer speak to me as it was actually my husbands car - well it is only in his name but only because I'm a blue badge holder and I can no longer drive - how rude is this ? I was not impolite in anyway yet most would be ranting fo just the sheer length of time it has taken. But I feel we should now be due some closure on this - they had it for 4 months. I suggested they remove the exhuast and hang it for a few days to drain out the oil - well this seems like it was a red rag to a bull. I only asked if they could shove some thinners down it or solvent anything ot breakdown the oil. My word it was practically blue corner and red corner talk !! My husband is not a strong man (and I don't mean that in any belittling way but there are times when I need him to step up to the plate and he is ill equipped to do it - a very gentle type) HELP - are there any honest decent mechanics out there that can shed some light on this or have we been taken for right mugs ? It cannot be driven away in current state so what choice do I have - and they know it. We feel completely stripped of any power over this vehicle - yet we are the customers.

Answer:
This has gone beyond what parts etc - you need to talk to citizens advice bureau or a lawyer. The forst garage have utterly failed to fix the car within anything that can be considered a reasonable time. If you have to, tell them that its your car but your husband is the registered keeper - they are never going to contest that one since things can be transferred between married partners so easily, If you wanted to take it to the wire I think you would win in a small claims court too. What you need is closure from the first garage and then to take to a Peugot agent or specialist. Good luck.
