K&N Cleaning Kit
Buying this kit on Amazon.com was about half what it would have cost me at the dealership that installed my system.
Rating :
quality filter and cleaner does it job
pro: cleans like it should and k and n filters are worth it cons: it a pain to clean the filter every 50,000 miles :p
Rating :
good stuff
not too much of work as others put it. A Must have if you use their filter. One thing the instruction said at the end that both clean and dirty sides show red evenly. I dont think you would get red to show up evenly on the clean side while you only apply oil to the dirty side, unless you risk over-oil it. With the amount of recommended oil, probably can only get 20% of clean side to show up red.
Rating :
Fast shipping decent price
Haven't used this product but it came fairly fast and seems exactly what I ordered. I'd buy from this retailer again.
Rating :
got to have it for K&N filters
I've had this kit before. The most difficult part of using it, is recoating the filter with oil, using squeeze bottle. I plan on trying to use a small atomizer spray bottle to apply it, when the time comes. You're trying to apply a light coat to the entire filter evenly. Maybe it could even be brushed on from a small disposable container.

Customer Review :
This was a no brainer!
All 3 of our cars now have K & N filters.
Just not a better choice.
Over the years use of K&N filters have saved me lots of $$$$.
When we bought our new car it was my fist extra purchase / investment to prolong the life of the car. I've had a K&N in my truck for 14 years and the engine still runs like a champ. Easy to clean and re-charge..
The only Warning I have is make sure you put the K&N sticker that comes with the filter on the air intake.. My wife once took our car in for an oil change.. The attendant was new and replaced the air filter.. There went the K&N, by the time I found out the filter was either in his car or the land fill. My wife is now aware all our cars have K&N's :-)

1 MPG improvement
I recommend this product, but only experienced 1mpg improvement in city driving, not sure if it made any difference on highway driving. Fit was perfect and I like the idea that I can wash the filter and not worry about buying a new one. My car is a Subaru Impreza 2.5i 2008

true to its name and rep
bought this for my 09 Subaru Impreza and I have had it in for about a week,I have noticed a slight increase in power and acceleration but havent really noticed any gas mileage improvement in city driving but noticed a slight improvement in gas mileage on highway driving.ive used K&N in V-8 cars ive owned and noticed the power difference so I would recommend this to anyone who wants a little more power and wants too keep there car basically stock and not install a cold air intake type system and possibly void warranty.the filter fit perfectly and was very easy to install with just a screwdriver

K&N filter
It's cool. Does what it's supposed to do. I have the FIPK for my Explorer, but it wasn't available for my Suby, so I just got the replacement filter. I can't say I've noticed a difference in economy or performance, but having a washable/ reusable filter is what I wanted. This is it.

Happy Subie
I have been looking for a great price on this filter for a long time. Easier to install than any filter as it doesn't fall appart when you are trying to put it in the air box. The price I got was almost $20 dollars cheaper than any competitor. I am really happy with this filter. Seems to improve low end torque and power, not sure about any improvement in gas mileage.

Editorial Review :
K&N Air Filter Oil is the only oil specially formulated to work in combination with the cotton fabric in K&N FilterCharger elements providing a superior air filtration system. When used as directed, it quickly penetrates the filter pleats, where it remains suspended in the cotton fabric. Air filter oil is designed specifically for air filter elements and will boost the performance of cars and trucks. Saturation is maintained until the element is cleaned with K&N air filter cleaner and degreaser. Air filter oil is applied to moisten the foam filter element. Even amount of oil is applied over the foam filter element. Use your fingers and squeeze the foam filter element to ensure that the oil is absorbed throughout the foam filter element.

Great filter - be prepared for the install challenge!
This is my third KN filter (my third vehicle), and has not disappointed. Beware, tho - the installation on an 08 Highlander is not as easy as "loosen the nut and remove the cover" that other vehicles have. Still, it was worth the effort.

I have an '07 Toyo Solora 4-banger and this product increased horsepower AND increased MPG by 5 points! Awesome, totally worth the money...quick delivery! Just be aware that cleaning this air filter means purchasing the cleaning kit since the filter is not easy to clean.

Easy Installation, Saves Gas
I purchased two of these, one for a 2003 Camry and the other for a 2008 Sienna. It is a very easy installation, just pop off the filter cover for the old one and slip these pre-oiled filters in. Great for a car's lifetime. Two words of caution though: 1) buy the cleaner and oil kit because you will need it to clean the filter after about 5000 - 7000 miles and 2) make sure you install the filter correctly. The filter has a curved corner that matches perfectly with the filter box. If you are not attentive, you might not align it correctly and close the box without a good seal. I'm sure the instructions might tell you this, I never took the time, but I guess I had enough time to install it twice. After about 1000 miles, it seems to increase the fuel efficiency, but don't expect dilythium crystal - like increases/savigns. If you plan on keeping the car a lot of miles, the savings will add up.

Questions & Answers
Question : 1989 Vauxhall Senator MKI 3.0I 12V Auto turns over but wont start? Anyone got any ideas?
Hi,My car was running fine until one day until I tried it again & it wouldn't start. For some reason the engine Indicator light on the dashboard panel does not light up or flash. It just stays off. The light is the 4th one in from the left on the panel. It appears there is no power getting to the electric fuel pump for some reason? I have fed fuel manually down the fuel line & it will start but wont stay running for long. I have already fitted a new fuel pump, filter, another fuel relay, & a s/h ECU but so far to no avail.I have already checked fuses but can't find anything that looks like it may have blown. There appears to be a loss of power somewhere or possibly a communication problem between electrical systems.I have been tearing my hair out trying different replacement parts which is proving to be a very expensive exercise.Has anyone ever encountered anything like this or does anyone here have any ideas or pointers they could share? Thanks in advance,Mike.:(
Answer:
I'm not a european car guy but I have run into frustrating probs of this nature here in america......my first hunch is a connection problem....most likely your ecu is not getting power.....try looking at the back of the wire harnesses that plug into the ECU......sometimes the clips are loose or worn and not giving you contact for power to the ECU.....beyond that it is just gonna be tedious work with a ohm meter to find the faulty wire unless there is someone who knows these cars and have seen it before!!!!

Question : Government wants to install GPS in every car to tax you by the Miles you drive, is that a great IDEA or what?
If you live in Minnesota Please do not re-elect this JERK OK?I have to move far from my job because I can't afford to live close because if Real Estate prices are too high so I live 2 hours out of the cityhttp://www.duluthnewstribune.com/event/article/id/119008/group/home/Late last week in Washington, U.S. Rep. Jim Oberstar touted spending half a trillion dollars to solve the nation’s transportation woes.He followed that up on Monday with a news release promising that motorists in Northeastern Minnesota “will see record levels of road construction this summer,” thanks to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.Investments in infrastructure sound great. No one needs to look further than the collapsed Interstate 35W bridge in Minneapolis to realize our nation’s highways, bridges, rail lines and other transportation systems have been overlooked for too long. But a nagging question persists: Where will the money come from?We certainly hope wedidn’t hear part of the answer yesterday when news broke that Oberstar, chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, wanted to immediately enact a mileage-based tax on cars and trucks.Whether enacted immediately or in the future, a new tax now — or anytime, really, no matter what the economy is like — would be about as welcome as hitting one of those tire-popping potholes along Glenwood Street.Taxing Americans based on the miles they drive would require a frightening amount of government intrusion. Vehicles would need to be equipped with GPS technology that could determine how many miles a car has been driven and whether the miles were logged on interstate highways or on secondary roads. Not trying to sound big-brother paranoid, butwouldn’t such technology also allow vehicles to be tracked — with the potential for a massive invasion of privacy?Oberstar spokesman Jim Berard argued that “a vehicle miles-traveled tax is a logical complement, and perhaps a future replacement, for fuel taxes.” But once both taxes are in place, does anyone seriously believe one would be eliminated in favor of the other? Especially with a “strong need [for government] to find revenue,” as Berard stated?Hard-working commuters getting to and from work would be hit hard by a mileage-based tax. Rural areas and smaller towns, including Duluth and Oberstar’s native Chisholm, also would bear the brunt. Convenient public transportation isn’t available in those places like it is in Washington or elsewhere residents can hop a subway to get around — or where a congressman can call for a driver to take him where he needs to go.Infrastructure investment is needed. No denying that. But we don’t need to spend so much that new taxes have to be created to pay for it all. The investment doesn’t have to result in record levels of road construction. And it doesn’t have to come at a cost of half a trillion dollars.
Answer:
Seems double taxation to me. We pay taxes on Gas, the more we drive the more taxes we pay on Gas.However if they get us off Gas, they are probably trying to find a waay to continue that revenue. Maybe that is the logic behind this non sense.

Question : "New" complicated engines with expensive, cheap, (plastic) parts.?
But gets better gas mileage.I just don't get it.I'd rather pay a few more pennies at the pump, then dollars at the shops.I feel scammed by the auto industries (and government ) manufacturing today. Now the governments want the auto industries to get 50MPG average on there motors........So this means more expensive, recirculative , cheaply made , expensive , junk , will be added to the motors in the future . More junk oppertunities for a possible break down.Guess that,s how there going to payback whatever bailout money they do receive from the tax payers.I can rebuild a fuel system on a carb. engine for less then $200 (fuel pump to jets)But a fuel injected engine cost at least $1000 (usually more) to replace the fuel system (fuel pump to injectors). This is just speaking of the replacement parts of the fuel systems on and engine. If it's really an environmental issue then why don't we change fuels? (I think the greedy old petroleum industry and there investors have a problem with this, yet they still have the money to manufacture the "new" fuel)Where are we saving money?
Answer:
I know what you mean. I miss the old classic cars that were fun and easy to work on. They didn't have all of this smog crap and computer stuff on them. your right it's those greedy oil companies, the government and them make profits at our expense. It's all about the money, not the environment. We are not saving money, the government, oil, and GM are making more money. For example, remember when gas did not have MTBE, now it does and it waters down our gas for the sake of it being "environmentally friendly". Without it, we would get better gas mileage. Government and oil companies don't care about the environment as long as their making money doing what they do. We are driving more fuel efficient cars to save a few dollars on gas, but paying it up the wazoo in our taxes and paychecks. There gonna pass these new laws at the expense of us, not them.

Question : Car Won't Start... PLEASE HELP!?!?
I own a 1994 Mercury Villager, 3.0L V6... one day it died on my wife while she was driving. I had it towed back to my house and soon after began several replacements to fix whatever the problem was.*SO FAR, I've: bought & installed a brand new battery, replaced the starter, replaced the alternator, replaced the fuel filter, replaced the spark plugs, new spark plug wires, new distributor cap, new rotor button, new crankshaft position sensor, new ignition control module, after that I finally broke down and put in a whole new distributor( made sure it was @ TDC, when I was finished)... I even tested the ignition coil with a multi-meter just to make sure it wasn't the culprit***I've had my son turn the car on, while I listened at the gas tank to make sure that the fuel pump is coming on. I took the hose loose to make sure that gas was coming thru the fuel filter. And I checked the spark plugs to make sure that they were "sparking"(touched them to metal to see a visual spark) and I checked to make sure that there was gas on the spark plugs{so that I would know for sure that the fuel was making it into the engine & to rule out a problem with the fuel system}.NOW... When I turn the key... the van tries to "turn-over", it just wont crank all the way up or "catch"(for lack of a better word).... PLEASE SOMEBODY, ANY BODY, HELP MEP.S. The only reason I haven't taken it to the dealership is because of $$$. I would have to pay to have it towed ($65-$75 to hook it up, plus $5 per mile... then pay to have it diagnosed... then pay whatever they charge to fix it OR pay to have it towed back home if I cant afford their price). A friend of mines is having a similar problem outta his car( a different, much newer vehicle) and he took it to the shop, the shop pulled the codes from his car's computer and replaced several parts and did ALOT of maintenance&repairs BUT HIS CAR STILL WON'T WORK<<< and I don't want to take it to the shop, spend $3,000 to $4,000, AND END UP GETTING SCREWED OVER... Please, any tips/tricks or advice will really help....................I've taken the distributor cap off and had a buddy try to crank the car while I look... the rotor button turns, so I assume the belt isn't broken???

Question : Top 11 Expesivest Disasters..?
11 Most Expensive Catastrophes in History # 11. Titanic - $150 Million The sinking of the Titanic is possibly the most famous accident in the world. But it barely makes our list of top 10 most expensive. On April 15, 1912, the Titanic sank on its maiden voyage and was considered to be the most luxurious ocean liner ever built. Over 1,500 people lost their lives when the ship ran into an iceberg and sunk in frigid waters. The ship cost $7 million to build ($150 million in today ' s dollars). # 10. Tanker Truck vs Bridge - $358 Million On August 26, 2004, a car collided with a tanker truck containing 32,000 liters of fuel on the Wiehltal Bridge in Germany . The tanker crashed through the guardrail and fell 90 feet off the A4 Autobahn resulting in a huge explosion and fire which destroyed the load-bearing ability of the bridge. Temporary repairs cost $40 million and the cost to replace the bridge is estimated at $318 Million. # 9. MetroLink Crash - $500 Million On September 12, 2008, in what was one of the worst train crashes in California history, 25 people were killed when a Metrolink commuter train crashed head-on into a Union Pacific freight train in Los Angeles . It is thought that the Metrolink train may have run through a red signal while the conductor was busy text messaging.. Wrongful death lawsuits are expected to cause $500 million in losses for Metrolink. # 8. B-2 Bomber Crash - $1.4 Billion Here we have our first billion dollar accident (and we ' re only #7 on the list). This B-2 stealth bomber crashed shortly after taking off from an air base in Guam on February 23, 2008. Investigators blamed distorted data in the flight control computers caused by moisture in the system. This resulted in the aircraft making a sudden nose-up move which made the B-2 stall and crash. This was 1 of only 21 ever built and was the most expensive aviation accident in history. Both pilots were able to eject to safety. # 7. Exxon Valdez - $2.5 Billion The Exxon Valdez oil spill was not a large one in relation to the world ' s biggest oil spills, but it was a costly one due to the remote location of Prince William Sound (accessible only by helicopter and boat). On March 24, 1989, 10.8 million gallons of oil was spilled when the ship ' s master, Joseph Hazelwood, left the controls and the ship crashed into a Reef. The cleanup cost Exxon $2.5 billion. # 6. Piper Alpha Oil Rig - $3.4 Billion The world ' s worst off-shore oil disaster. At one time, it was the world ' s single largest oil producer, spewing out 317,000 barrels of oil per day. On July 6, 1988, as part of routine maintenance, technicians removed and checked safety valves which were essential in preventing dangerous build-up of liquid gas. There were 100 identical safety valves which were checked. Unfortunately, the technicians made a mistake and forgot to replace one of them. At 10 PM that same night, a technician pressed a start button for the liquid gas pumps and the world ' s most expensive oil rig accident was set in motion. Within 2 hours, the 300 foot platform was engulfed in flames. It eventually collapsed, killing 167 workers and resulting in $3.4 Bill ion in damages. # 5. Challenger Explosion - $5.5 Billion The Space Shuttle Challenger was destroyed 73 seconds after takeoff due on January 28, 1986 due to a faulty O-ring. It failed to seal one of the joints, allowing pressurized gas to reach the outside. This in turn caused the external tank to dump its payload of liquid hydrogen causing a massive explosion. The cost of replacing the Space Shuttle was $2 billion in 1986 ($4.5 billion in today ' s dollars). The cost of investigation, problem correction, and replacement of lost equipment cost $450 million from 1986-1987 ($1 Bill ion in today ' s dollars). # 4. Prestige Oil Spill - $12 Billion On November 13, 2002, the Prestige oil tanker was carrying 77,000 tons of heavy fuel oil when one of its twelve tanks burst during a storm off Galicia , Spain . Fearing that the ship would sink, the captain called for help from Spanish rescue workers, expecting them to take the ship into harbour. However, pressure from local authorities forced the captain to steer the ship away from the coast. The captain tried to get help from the French and Portuguese authorities, but they too ordered the ship away from their shores. The storm eventually took its toll on the ship resulting in the tanker splitting in half and releasing 20 million gallons oil into the sea. According to a report by the Pontevedra Economist Board, the total cleanup cost $12 billion. # 3. Space Shuttle Columbia - $13 Billion The Space Shuttle Columbia was the first space worthy shuttle in NASA ' s orbital fleet. It was destroyed during re-entry over Texas on February 1, 2003 after a hole was punctured in one of the wings during launch 16 days earlier. The original cost of the shuttle was $2 Bill ion in 1978. That comes out to $6.3 Bill ion in
