Works great so far

I've had this on my car for about 5 months so far, and have had none of the problems a few others mention. Be sure to read the instructions: you need to rotate the cap to line up the hole in the Stant with the hole in the OEM filler neck. It's a nice convenience to not have to unscrew the stock cap, and not have to worry about the stock cap banging into the side of the car and scratching the paint.

Never lose your cap again

It's weird at first not taking the cap off of the car at the pump - even weirder not putting the cap on after filling up at the pump. This is great and takes the worry about wondering if you put the cap back on before you leave the station.

Good idea but leaky

I'm happy this was inexpensive, because it only worked as advertised for a week. After that, it couldn't hold a seal on my Subaru and ended up causing a check-engine light. Replacing the cap with my OEM gas cap solved the problem. Stant is a good company, and typically makes good products, but this one is a let down.

i had this installed on my 98 Volvo.

Alot of the stations i used would not work with this cap. It causes the pump to click off as fill the tank was full.

Problems with Instant Fill Caps

On two different cars (Chrysler and Kia) caps failed to seal and brought on the Check Engine light. The old PermaCap was on a Lincoln for many years with no failures. Basically the Instant Fill is an inferior design. The Stant will also allow moisture to collect in the flap door depression which unloads into the tank when the filler nozzle is inserted. It is a terrific idea, but needs better product design and engineering.

Not for plastic FUEL tanks !

The first line of the instructions for the Permatex 09100 Plastic Tank Repair Kit says "THIS PRODUCT IS NOT FOR USE ON PLASTIC FUEL TANKS" It is NOT as advertized on Amazon. How do I get my money back?

I had to cancel my order after reading manufacturer's information, which said this was NOT for fuel tanks. It's disingenuous (at best) for the seller to claim it does. Hopefully, nobody will burn up by following seller's false claims.

AWESOME PRODUCT

I put my camper over a stump and broke a hole in the fresh water tank.
The RV dealer wanted $130.00 for a new tank, plus labor to fabricate the holes for the inlets/outlets. I'm sure this would have ruined $200.00 at best. The new Permatex product patched the break in nothing flat. No more leak, total cost about $5.00.

Handy gas cap to have

I bought this to use on the Cobra Replica that I'm building. It's much easier than using a standard gas cap. I had one years ago on my Camaro and it worked well there. I haven't had it for long enough to put any real test on it, but history tells me that it works well and is easy to use.

Really mixed feelings about this product.

I think the idea of this cap is really great, but in practice I have some concerns.

One other review noted that the cap seals poorly and leads to condensation problems and check engine light issues. I have not seen this. However, what I have seen:

1. The first one I had broke within a few weeks. Here in NJ, gas is pumped by attendants, so perhaps rough handling by attendants can be blamed. (Stant did replace the defective unit promptly and with no problems.)
2. Some gas pumps here in NJ and that I used to pump gas myself in other states shut off after only a very small amount of gas is pumped. Others seem to work flawlessly. So depending on where you get your gas, this cap could be a blessing or a curse.
3. Here in NJ, the vehicle inspection requires removing the fuel cap and running a pressure check, so be sure to have the plastic tool with you at all times!

I used one of these caps on an 02 Pathfinder and a 96 Oldsmobile with similar results.

So, overall, I would say if you live in a sate where there is no self service gas, this cap is probably not worth it. If you pump your own gas, your satisfaction will depend on whether the pumps where you regularly get gas work well with this cap or not.

worked great.. for about a year.

The new Fords have the "flap" gas cap and I like the idea... When I left my Ford Explorer cap at a station someplace, I ordered the "Stant" flap cap to replace it. I really drive a lot and liked it... But, within a year the flap broke off falling down to the car's interior fill hole.. a small fill plate just below the outer rim of the gas cap... I couldn't fill the car until I figured it out, but was able to fish the flap out and fill up... The stant cap is all plastic and not meant for heavy every day use... I'd pay more for the same thing in metal... ps.. no box no receipt got no return...

Gas cap from hell

This is a great idea but it does not work on my ford explorer.

The "check gas cap" light keeps comming on. I have tried to reseal it to no avail.

Good luck with this. I have to junk mine.
