Customer Review :
GM 3.1L / 3.4L V6 Intake Manifold Gasket Set
This item is exactly what the doctor ordered for those of you who are suffering from the dreaded LIM gasket failure on GM cars equipped with the 3.1L or 3.4L V6 engine. It typically manifests itself as milky, antifreeze contaminated oil. The engine may be overheating as well. This is due to a physical breakdown of the existing OEM plastic and silicone gasket. It lacks the strength to deal with the expansion and contraction at the interface between the aluminum cylinder heads, aluminum intake manifold, and the cast iron engine block. This allows antifreeze from the cooling passages to leak internally, externally and/or sometimes both. Either way, this product will fix the problem permanently. It contains rubber coated steel PermaDry lower intake manifold gaskets. You can find an excellent how to on GM 3.1L / 3.4L LIM Gasket replacement here:
[...]
This particular part number, MS98003T applies to newer 3.4L V6's from 1999 onwards. For older 3.1L's up to 1998, use MS98004T. Be sure that you use ONLY one of these two sets. There are other, cheaper sets that duplicate the original OEM gasket construction materials. They WILL fail in short order. From about mid 2003 onwards, these improved gaskets are installed as stock from the factory, replacing the old plastic ones. One tool that you may want to consider for this job can be found here on Amazon, Lisle Push Rod Remover 2.8L, 3.1L, 3.4L GM V6. It allows you to remove the pushrods without removing the rocker arms. It saves about 2 hours or so on the job. A video demonstration can be viewed here:

Mr. Gasket Ultra Seal Exhaust Gasket Material gives the ability to custom-make your own gasket. The length of the material is 24" and its width is 6". This 1/16" thick exhaust gasket material is used for special applications.
Customer Review :
Not for turbo applications
I used this to make some custom gaskets that are not available from the manufacturer and they did not last. They dried up/cracked and fell apart. This was between the turbo/ex manifold and also the discharge flange and exhaust.

GREAT SUFF!
This material worked great.I used it to cut an exhaust manifold gasket for my 1974 350 ss Aermacchi Harley Davidson motorcycle.Nice, leak proof seal.

good product
Easily cut and worked into shape. Good seal obtained. I used this product to replace the cheap stamped metal seals sent with my exhaust. No more annoying leaks.
Rating :
Best Exhaust Gasket I've ever used!!
This product is very high quality. Steel reinforced mesh with a high temperature backer. Would definately recommend for all exhaust sealing requirements.

Good Fit
This valve cover gasket and spark plug tube grommets for my 5S-FE Toyota engine works great. It fixed the leaks in my spark plug tubes which is why I bought it. Originally the rubber grommets looked a little big, but later I realized they were supposed to be that way for a tighter fit.

Question : Average cost for head gasket replacement?
I am looking at buying a 1996 Jaguar XJ12 and the only thing wrong with it is that it has a blown head gasket. I am trying to find out approximately how much it would cost for the part and the labor. If any one knows how much just the part would cost, or if they still make the part, that would be fantastic!

Question : Does anyone know where I can get a replacement gasket for my Rival Punch Fountain?
I've used this on several occasions and it has always been a big hit. Unfortunately, a helpful guest washed it after the last party and the gasket is now missing so the fountain won't work. I called Rival and they don't make the fountain any longer and didn't have any replacement parts. Any idea where I can get a part? Or if you have a fountain can you send me a picture of the valve so I'll know what I need? I have a loose plastic peg and spring. Was planning on using it tonight for my b'day party but would like to fix it for next fun event. Thanks!
Answer:
Well it's made bay Marbeck so try marbeck.com under miscellaneous items and if no luck there call you local store that carries nuts and bolts..they usually carry all kinds and sizes of gaskets..usually not more than a few dollars..If you go there be sure to bring your item so they can see if it fits..

Question : How much should i be paying my mechanic for replacing lifters in a 2006 GMC Envoy Denali 8 Cyl. Parts & labor?
There is apparently an underlying problem why the lifter failed. Need to know that too. But the repair bill for a replacement lifter, seals, gaskets seems high. how much should the mechanic be charging for this repair.
Answer:
There are no issues on lifters. You know the squeaky wheel gets greased.Don't be afraid to complain to a dealer. The engine doesn't have an accessible lifter valley. You have to remove the heads to get at them.

Question : I am driving to Senagal in a Transit van, what spare parts and tools should I bring?
So far I've got on my list:Replacement beltsNew gasketsSeveral spare tyres/wheelsA cambelt and a new head in case of cambelt failureSpare rubber hoses in case I lose a radiator hoseGaffer tapeLots of water/oilPower steering and brake fluidSeveral 40 litre drums of DieselNeed to know what else, bearing in mind that Transit spares are impossible to get out there, and if I break down on the way and can't get going again I might be in serious trouble...The spare diesel is in case I run out somewhere a long way away from a petrol station. No I am not running away from home; I'm putting a lot of planning/preperation into this trip!
Answer:
you sound like an accident waiting to happen. "several 40 liter drums of diesel", water, oil, and gaffer tape. Did you get the van service recently? You did not state the distance of your trip. You sound like you are running away from home. Good luck with that.

Question : How much should head gasket replacement be ?
i have a 1998 peugeot 106 neededing the head gasket replaced as its leaking oil, How much should it cost roughly between to get the head gasket sorted, new timing belt and new water pump done ?I could buy the parts myself so how much should this cost roughly for labour ?
Answer:
Just one thing, David, are you sure it's the head gasket and not the rocker box seal? That's the bit at the top of the engine, with the oil filler 'ole in it. If it's that, it's a simple and cheap (ish) job to do.

Question : *****Pulling intake manifold on a 1969 firebird (350)***** TIPS??
Tomorrow I'm changing the "O" ring on the intake manifold. Is there any other replacement parts necessary besides the gaskets I would need. This is the first time I'm doing this. Any tips?Any other general information that might be helpful to complete the pull and replacement?Suzanne
Answer:
The manifold is very heavy, make sure you have someone to help and a plan as to where you will put it when it's off. Setting it on the fender, even with a cloth can damage the fender. As stated above do not turn the carburetor upside down or even on it's side. Leave it on the manifold and set them down just as they sit on the engine. Make sure you use a line wrench to remove the fuel line from the carb while holding the big end with a wrench. If I remember correctly you do not have to remove the distributor on the Pontiac 350. Be very careful not to drop anything into the ports. If you do, get it out before you turn the engine. Good luck Suzanne!

Question : 91 honda civic dx automatic oil pan gasket replacement.?
i have a 91 honda civic with a old gasket that needs replacing do i just remove all the bolts in sequential order scrape off the old remaining parts of the gasket and apply sealant to the four corners of the gasket and screw on the bolts the way i removed them?then screw on my new drain bolt , washer and new oil filter and pour in new oil.
Answer:
You've got the idea, it's a fairly easy job. Loosen the bolts starting with the corners 1st, then the center, then a cross pattern for the rest. This will ensure that the pan doesn't warp, use the same method for install, but don't completely torque them down until all of the bolts are snug. Also, find out if the gasket you are using is a "dry" gasket, meaning you don't need a sealant. Felpro gaskets have a "PermaDry" symbol on the back. If it's a standard gasket, use RTV black silicon gasket maker/sealant, the black formula has the highest oil resistance. Hope this helps :)

Question : I own a 2000 Toyota Avalon and need instructions on how to install the alternator and valve cover gaskets.?
I have the replacement alternator part, but having difficulty aligning the tension adjuster. The screw is located underneath the alternator. What are some suggestions to make this install ? I also am replacing my valve cover gaskets. There appears to be quite a few parts that I need to unscrew and remove in order to get to these covers. I need some step-by-step assistance to guide me through. email me asap......running out of time.Freddie J
Answer:
Go to your local parts store and pick up a service manual (Chilton or Hayden). For under $20.00, it will save you a lot of aggravation and mistakes. It will also be useful down the road for future repair projects.

Question : 99 chevy tahoe 5.7L-want to buy replacement intake manifold gasket set for when needed-what's the best type?
Chevy's are known to need replacement intake manifold gaskets-want to buy a very good set to have available for replacement-what is a very good set and what should it include? Only serious answers please from someone who has actually done the job-don't want GM dealer parts cause if they were really worth anything-the originals wouldn't keep failingI made the statement about Delco parts because I had to have intake manifold gaskets replaced on another 99 Tahoe, a 90 chevy caprice, a 97 chevy blazer and on my son's 99 tahoe-if that tells you anything about GM knowing they had an inferior part and kept producing it-also there are two types of Fel-Pro gaskets available-what's the difference?
Answer:
You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here - carinsurance.yoll.net
