DORMAN 425-176 STEERING SHAFT
Customer Review :
If you clunk, buy this part
I replaced my clunking 2003 Avalanche intermediate shaft with this part today. The GM greasing solution does not work. You only need a 15mm box end wrench to replace this part. Duct tape your steering wheel to the shift lever so it doesn't rotate when the shaft is removed. There is a captive nut on one side of the shaft, remove from the bolt side. One bolt is inside the truck, one outside. Unplug the blue plug that is in the way on the bottom of the dash. Remove the shaft toward the inside of the truck with a bit of maneuvering. You may need a towel to wipe up the extra grease from the dealers attempt to quiet this noise :-0 Install in the reverse order. No more clunking. Honestly takes 30-40 minutes from the time you pop the hood.

A very easy fix, "should have done it sooner" lol
This was to fix a 2005 Chev Avalanche with the notorious clunking in the steering shaft. After reading some online forums I found out that this product was what I needed. It fixed the problem and was very easy to install. Amazon had the best price, shipped for free and was here in 4 days.

Great product and price
Excellent solution to the common problem of stock GM intermediate shaft knock. Took all of 10 mins to install....works great!

Best price and it did the trick, no more steering wheel knock!
Was easy to install, did it in about 15 minutes. Didn't have to remove the gas pedal like some others have done on the forums. Take out the bolts, don't try to remove the nuts, they're welded on. The best value for this steering shaft is right here on Amazon.com

Editorial Review :
ORV recommends upgrading your current steering stabilizer or adding a stabilizer on all lifted Jeep vehicles. The ORV Steering stabilizer dampens the roughness of the highway and the vibration from running larger tires and wheels. ORV Gas Stabilizers also make it easier to move those larger tires and wheels both on and off road. These noticeable handling improvements are well worth the small investment. ORV Steering Stabilizers feature D.O.M. tubing for longer life and reduced internal wear. The piston rod is polished and chromed for longer life and the highest performance. 150 PSI Nitrogen charged design gives you the best of both on and offroad use. Tough leak proof seals ensure the shocks last the test of time. Each stabilizer includes a black shock boot.

Question : What is the best way to get all of the air out of the power steering system?
I have a 1999 Ford Windstar 3.8L and I just replaced the p/s pump and rack and pinion and I cant seem to get all of the air out; what is the best way to bleed the system?
Answer:
fill the reservoir and with the engine running, go from stop on the steering to stop. this will move allot of fluid and should bleed the air out.

Question : How do I bleed air from power steering system in an '03 Impala .?
Would really appreciate it if someone could tell me how to bleed air from the power steering system of an '03 Impala. thanks ever so much.
Answer:
The power steering should be self bleeding. Just turn the wheels back and forth while keeping the reservoir full of fluid. the air should be forced back into the reservoir. If you can't turn the wheel jack the front wheels and turn them from stop to stop.

Question : how would i go about flushing my power steering system?

Question : Can i add a power steering system to my car?
I have a 1993 honda delsol. I bought it without power steering. Is it possible to add powersteering and how much does it cost?
Answer:
Yes and it needn't be expensive. Assuming the factory supplied PS on that year/model then go to an auto salvage and buy "everything" needed to transfer the PS to your car. You want every bolt, nut, bracket, the pump, the pulleys the rack, etc. I would buy new rubber hoses and a new belt.It is best if you can remove it because you wil learn and that will make it easier to install it.

Question : How do I bleed the power steering system on a honda accord ?
I have a honda accord 1.8 vtec se its a 1999 V reg. I have just bought a power steering pump as my old one was leaking and the bearings where damaged. I plan on fitting the pump this weekend just wondering how I would bleed the system of any air that may get into it?? Any help would be a great help,.
Answer:
Turn the steering wheel all the way left then all the way right slowly with the engine off after putting in the new pump and fluids. Repeat this several times . If your old one leaked out, dirt could have gotten in so a good way to clean out the gritt is to use transmission fluid instead of power steeringng fluid as it runs cleaner and will actually clean it out. However this does NOT work both ways. DO NOT EVER PLACE POWER STEERING FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION!! It will kill your car! lol Good Luck!

Question : What is the best way to get air out of power steering system?
I just drained the fluid in my power steering system, and filled the pump back to full, started it, and had a lot of bubbles in the fluid. The system works like it should, but it is noisy when I am turning the wheel. How would I get this fixed? Or will it work it's self out?vehicle is a 1989 Oldsmobile Delta 88. Power steering pump didn't make any noise until after I drained the system.
Answer:
turn left, right, stop to stop. let it run for a while, top up as needed.

Question : how do i bleed the power steering system on a Mitsubishi pajero automatic?
hi we have replaced the rubber pipe at the front of our pajero automatic its the one on the end of the power steering pipe. is this also the automatic transmission as the forward gears are great but reverse is very slow at clunking in (only since we replaced pipe) does the system need bleeding if so how do i do it thanks
Answer:
i work for a ford dealer and what i do is to raise the front wheels, turn the steering wheel lock to lock, which means spin the steering wheel till it stops one way then go back till it stops the other way do this 4 times and leave for 2 mins and check the fluid level it will have droped ,start the engine up and see if the steering is now ok and the gear change.best of luck mate if not work contact a dealer and get them to recover the car dont drive it to them.

Question : does a fiat power steering system run through obd?
fiat punto 2000 reg.power steering not working warning light on dash, before i work on it i imagine its the unit, fuse, relay and nescessary wiring.but does it run trough the on board computer or does it have its own PAS Module? I checked fuses so if anyone's had this problem? all info appreciated, cheers
Answer:
Had the same problem with my 2001 punto - City Steering was on whilst parking and then steering locked and on came the warning light. Tow home and took it to Fiat as couldn't get any other garages to diagnose the fault (wasn't registering or something). Needed a whole new steering column approx £600.Apparantly it was something to do with one of my sensors but like many Fiat parts the part doesn't come as a seperate and needs to be brought as a unit. Common fault I'm now told! Best of luck!
