Editorial Review :
Lisle wide range filter wrench fits filters from 3 1/8" to 3 7/8". The steel jaws grips the filter without slipping and it works great in tight spots since it works from the top of the filter.
Customer Review :
Thank you Lisle Wide Range Filter Wrench
I got lazy this winter and took my car to the local oil change place. Little did I know that they were going to use an impact wrench to put my oil filter back on. After scraping my knuckles for a half an hour since none of the wrench's I owned had enough clearence to attempt to take off the filter on my Ford Explorer, I saw the reviews on Amazon and went to my local car parts shop where I bought this wrench and had my filter off in 30 seconds. This is the best filter wrench I've ever owned. Thanks again fellow reviewers and Lisle for making a quality product.

A Great Oil Filter Wrench
I purchased this wrench and the similar Lisle Import Oil Filter wrench (for smaller filters). I can report that they are both well made, and they both work really well at removing stuck-on oil filters where you only have an "end view" of the filter. Here are some specific likes: 1) The two jaws, each with two biting "teeth", grip the filters tightly. I put my "three finger" style wrenches (which don't grip nearly as well)into the recycling bin after using this wrench for the first time. 2) The jaws are spring loaded, which holds the wrench in place on the filter while you get in position to turn the ratchet. A nice feature. 3) The harder you turn, the tighter it grips. You may dent the end of the filter a little, but the filter will break free. 4) Between the two wrenches, they cover every size from small lawn tractor filters up through automotive and truck (F350 etc)filters. You don't need a large collection of "cup style" filters. I put a few of these in the recycling bin as well after using this wrench for the first time.
Lisle has solved the oil filter removal issue with these wrenches.

Best filter wrench that I have
I originally bought an OEM brand one - which was horrible to use. The 3 prong design was hard to keep on the filter and would slip off constantly the second I release the pressure.
This thing stays on once you slip it over the filter. It has never given me any issues in about a dozen oil changes.
The OEM one is in the trash.

Oil Filter issues, solution.
If you have a newer vehicle, such as a newstyle Ford F-150 you cannot remove the oil filter by using any sort of band wrench that grips and turns from the side. These newer models and others with tight under hood spacing, do not allow side access, instead they have oil filters that must be gripped end on, like removing a bolt with a socket wrench. That is basically what this item allows you to do, grip the oil filter from the end with a rachet and remove it without crushing the filter, cutting off your hand, or breaking something. This is the best way to access these hard to get at filters. Only downside is you cannot put the new one on using this as it applies force in only one direction, but its not that hard to spin on a new filter by hand (usually). Cheers !! much better than the cheap plastic sockets that slip and refuse to grip the filter. I have been using this thing for many years, and after using everything out there this is the best thing for this application, and its pretty cheap too. I've managed to lose mine after years of use and am ordering another one.

LISLE Import Car Oil Filter Wrench 2-1/2 to 3-1/8in
Customer Review :
Excellent tool
This is the 4th oil filter remover I've bought over the years, and it will certainly be the last. All of these gadgets eventually help to get the filter off, but the big claw and strap types simply couldn't fit into the recessed oil filter area easily. Since the diameter of this tool is just slightly larger than the filter, it fits easily into the tight space where the oil filter is. You'll likely need a socket extension on your ratchet, but you'll only need to a half turn or so with the tool/ratchet and you're in business - no more fighting to get the claw/strap type tool into the tiny space to grab hold of the filter. This is an excellent, simple lil gizmo, highly recommended to any Do It Yourself oil changer.

Works Like a Champ!
This is a great tool for removing old oil filters. I've used this on a Honda Accord, Civic and CR-V. Even filters with textured exteriors can be a pain to remove if you get even a little oil on your hands when removing the oil drain plug. This tool works great. You attach it to a 3/8" socket and away you go. As you turn, it tightens the grip and removes the old filter with very little effort. I have nothing bad to say about this tool.
As for the review which stated you can't use this tool to tighten the oil filter, you don't use this tool to tighten the oil filter. An oil filter is hand tight plus 1/4 to 1/2 turn for a tight fit. A person with average strength should be able to tighten the filter without issue. If you need a tool to remove and tighten the filter, then this tool is not for you.

Excellent tool.
Having gotten very frustrated with trying to use the cheap tools available in the local auto parts stores, I purchased this wrench. It works great! The harder you twist it, the tighter it grips the filter. So far, it has removed every filter without crushing the filter.
The only complaint is that the size range of filters that this will fit is limited. You will have to buy at least two sizes of this tool to handle common oil filters.
Rating :
Excellent tool
Our local dealer liked to overtighten the oil filter so that we had to go back to them to get our oil changed. We tried removing the oil filter with the official OEM cap and ended up stripping the cap. Tried the screwdriver through the filter and a hammer but that only tore up the filter housing.
This tool is the only thing that was able to unscrew it. In a world of proprietary plastic parts, here is a metal, fairly inexpensive and well-engineered tool that can work on most makes of oil filters. What's not to like?

Lisle oil filter wrench removes and installs oil filters on 2.2 liter GM Ecotec engines. The 1.25" low profile socket is specially designed for operating clearance.
Customer Review :
Big metal low-profile oil filter socket
It's a Big, metal, low-profile oil filter socket that my 2007 Saab 9-3 2.0T requires. Coupled with a 6 inch or longer extension, it's an easy job. Socket size is 1-1/4 inch (per markings) or roughly 32mm socket. LOW profile makes it easier to work with given the limited space above the oil filter cap. Fits 3/8 inch rachet sets. Drove up on the Blitz Rhino Ramp 8000 (cheaper locally at pep boys) and was able to complete the oil change quickly.
Rating :
Handy for what it is designed for.
This socket was designed to remove the oil filter on the GM 2.2 engine. The low profile makes the removal and installation simple. Well worth the money if you are going to change your own oil.

Great For Cobalts!
I have a 2008 Chevy Cobalt and getting to the oil filter was a PITA. With this filter wrench I'm able to access and filter and not have to worry about getting a wrench in the small area and possibly stripping the thread on the filter. VERY recommended for Ecotech/Cobalt owners!

This thing is awesome!
I fought with vise grips and then I bought a 32mm axle nut from Auto**** thinking I could get my oil filter cover off (2004 Saturn Vue). None of it worked. I was almost to the point that I was just going to have some quick lube place change the oil filter for me every other time the oil needed to be changed.
Then... I stumbled upon this awesome little socket designed specifcally for my GM 2.2L engine. I needed an 8 or 12-inch extension bar to properly reach the oil filter cover (and it hadn't been removed in a while so it needed some "elbow grease", too).
But, now I can change my Saturn's oil filter with ease and style!
Thank you!!!

Ecotec Filter Socket
A must for changing oil filters in a Ecotec engine, the low profile socket makes the job much easier.

Question : If Water was in the Oil, would the Water or the oil come out First when Drained?
For me, im askign due to the Residual that is in my Block, im trying to get it out.here is a re-post of my whole entire long wquestion, in seeking to know WHy my car didnt start AFTER the Head was changed until After i put the PCV Elbow on, gave it gas, charged up battery, and THEn it started...START OK, i thought i would ask for your Insight, ive never fully understood WHY my car dd not start back up, although i DID identify that the Battery was Weak (VERY Weak, i had to charge it all night with a Battery Charger now its power has come back, it was made and purchased Brand New in October last year, an Advance Auto "Silver'" by Johnson Control Systems, a.k.a. Interstate Batteries) and that Binky "Forgot to put Gas in the car," as it was under 14 tank.. but im still at a loss. A Brief Run-Down of what happened:1) Head Gasket -BLOWN,- (This is a fact, ALL Symptoms.) Car driven -ONE TOO MANY TIMES,- Warm water added 15 minutes after Car was "Running Hot," I shut it off before IT did.. 2 Hours after adding Water AND 1/2 gallon GAS (It was low on Gas then too) and nothing but "Crankcrankcrankcrankcrank" Same with Jump.. = Milkshake Oil. First time in my almost 28 Years ive Driven a Car EXACTLY One too many times.. and the first time ive EVER seen Milkshake Oil. CAR NEVER HAD MILKSHAKE OIL BEFORE.2) Car Towed Home. Milkshake oil Drained.. New Oil put in, tried to turn it over, also with jump, for 2 or 3 minutes.. New oil i just put in was Milkshake as well after this. Drained out Overnight again. (Now car has Water in it, not freezing night, .. no Oil.)3) Mechanics come, Take head off Car. New Gaskets, Wires, Spark Plugs, Oil, Oil Filter.. Ready to go. HEAD HAD SMALL CRACK LIKE A CROTCH BETWEEN CYLINDERS 2 AND 3. New head Installed, New Gaskets, they said they put some RTV Black Silicone on the Gaskets too... All is well.. i go to turn Car...4) "WHIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" - One Pitch. I Panic. "Timing?" -- (This car does NOT Have a Timing Belt Nor Chain.. gear Drive this one is.. Sound is EXACTLY likk when my Forf Escort snapped its Timing Belt, 1991 1.9L. Wont Turn.) I say, "Did you guys -Time- The Engine?" They say "We dont have a Timing light, we just put it back together with your New Head and gaskets." I asked if Engine was not Timed right would it not Start, they said "Yeah its possible." I say OK, I pay them, as they just performed Work. (Not done at a Shop.. Done with Tool set in my Driveway, out of their Car.)I ask all Questions about Timing.. Saddened and Confused. AND Worried.5) I wait a few hours.. I decide to look at it again, as i cant come up with an Answer. I look at Engine.. the "PCV Elbow" had FALLEN OFF! (It had always been loose and it still is.) I put it back on.. Turn Key, hoping Battery Power came back a little, it was looooww... --It CRANKED!- I give it Gas.. It ALMOST Started! Battery died again. i ask for a Jump.. Battery wouldnt take the Jump, it was looow... I charge car up for two or three hours at 6 Amps.. CAR STARTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Im STILL at a Loss as to what happened, and im letting Oil drip out to get the "Water/Antifreeze" that was left over (They said it had pooled up int eh Cylinders) Out.. Also, they cleaned the Replacement head up with Carb & Choke Cleaner, and i took it on the Highway today, and i think some of the Residual Carb & Choke Cleaner is coming out (cleaned via Oil) as well.. so im "Cleaning" the Residual "[censored]" out with Frequent Oil Changes and stuff, as it MUST still be eneding to come out of the Block, the remainder of the Milkshake Oil and Water and all that.So WHAT HAPPENED?? WHY did my car not START right away, im not sure Why?P.S.: There is now 1/2 Tank Gas in, i will use SeaFoam AFTER the Filter, i MAY try it myself if its THAT easy when car is sitting and all is cold, i CAN ee the Filter... and the Battery is fully charged, i bought a used Altertnator as well. Trying to cleanse the Block of the Dolvents and Milkshake Oil and Water/Antifreeze that was left behind, feel like its still in there, some not as much, but im tryin gto get it out, thats what caused the Mustard... Thanks for the Insight, sorry about the Length..Thank You
Answer:
If the head cracked, water leaked into the top of the cylinders on top of the pistons. Once your drain the oil and repair everything and put it back together, run it and change the oil after you feel it has flushed it, you should never have any milky oil again. You only need to change the oil once. If you are still getting milky oil, you still have the same problem. Besides a cracked head, you may also have a cracked block.Putting warm water in a hot engine does not keep you from cracking the block or a head. Before ever adding water to an engine that has gotten hot, you need to let it cool down for an hour or so until it is below 100 degrees at least. When a motor runs out of water and gets hot, it can be up around 250 degrees. Even if you put warm water in it, the most you might get out of your kitchen tap would be around 140, you can still crack the block. Sounds like you need to pull the engine and replace it and start over. Getting it to hot, you can burn up the rings and do all kinds of internal damage that you may not have found yet. You have learned a very costly lesson the hard way.

Answer:
Seriously, you should try to learn and study because if you need others to answer such simple questions there's no way you're going to pass the exam. You can do it on your own, and that is the only way you'll do well on the exam or in anything else for that matter.

Question : I propose that God is an abbreviation, of the three tools that the superpowers use to control the world.?
Gold, Oil and Drugs. The stuff wars are based on. Fear and Doubt are states the general population are whipped into when a new buzz word is released into mainstream media. "terrorism" think about that. I know I have your attention, so please answer me this- When will the people come together and declare with a million voices, we have suffered enough! This illusion we have been "educated" with, to believe any government is protecting us, is crumbling at is foundations. Who out there has survival skills? When all systems are off-line and money provides no nutrients, the transport systems stopped 3 days ago and inner new yorkers have resorted to cannabalism, who has survival skills? Native culture that has long been reguarded as primitive looks like a sustainable system, not reliant on petrolchemical society. community still beats with strong heart too. We are taught things with which they use to blind us. Tell me what you think?

Question : Auto AC Repair Question. How to skip an important step???
Hey car gurus. I have a peice of junk car that I don't really care about. So FIRST OF ALL. I am not concerned about the "right way" to do this. I all ready know what that is. I am only looking for a cheap fix here.Situation: This car had a punctured condenser coil. I found another one at the junk yard and replaced it. Now I am going to charge the system with oil and 134a. So far so good. I have all the tools and minimal knowledge to do all of the above. The only thing missing to doing this is pulling a vacuum on the system first. My question is this: I do NOT want to take it in and pay to have this done. Is there a way to 'somewhat' do this my self?I.E. Can I just dump a can of refrigerent in there and let it out the other end until I purge out all of the air? Or anything like that? Can I hook up my ac gagues and suck out the air with my mouth? (eeew gross..hehe) Or will it ever make any difference what so ever if I vacuum a car's AC system before I charge it? WIll it hurt to skip?
Answer:
Well if you are mechanically inclined enough to make a soilder joint I think i can help. First let me say that you should not mix refrigerants, secondly if your old condensor had a hole you will need to add oil, Peg oil you can purchase at any auto parts store with the freon.OK, find an old junk refrigerator, you will need to remove the compressor, cut the line off the compressor far enough that you have room to work with them,You will also have to cut the electrical wires from it.Now, take the power cord and attach it to the compressor and use the ground wire too.Plug in the compressor and see which tube is sucking, this is the tube that you will need to soilder a shrader valve to. This would be the same style of valve that you hook your freon can up to on the car.Once you have soildered that on the compressor you will need to hook up you refrigerant guages one hose from the old refrigerator compressor to the guage block the other off the gauge block to the low pressure side on the car. Open the valve on the guages so that the compressor can start vaccuming out the system. Plug in the old fridge motor and let it run util the guages read -20 vaccum, about 1-3 hours. then close the valve on the gauges with the fridge motor still running, then unplug the fridge motor. Now you are ready to add the oil and freon. Start the cat and turn the AC on High and then add the oil first, then start adding the freon, should hold about 3.0 lbsIf you're not ready to do all this find a buddy with a vaccum machine and ask him to vaccum the system down.

Motor oil is bad for the digestive system, but it can be a good source of lubrication, and can reduce any discomfort from persistent irregularity. Fried squirrel alledgedly tastes like chicken, but Honda makes good motorcycles. As a stuntman, it's important to know that a good home security system is the best tool you can have, or else you might wake up and find someone has used your computer to get on Yahoo! Answers and ask questions with your account, since these things are incredibly important to the Bureau of Health Statistics. If you ever need to catch a bird, the best thing to use is turtle wax and linoleum, that way they spin out when they go by honking. And then, deer can be used to destroy almost any yard, including, but not limited to scrapyards.
Answer:
Use the oil to cook the squirrel on the exhaust pipe of the Honda motorcycle.... the home security system can be used to as a cooking timer here. Inform the Bureau that you need to catch a bird, wrap yourself in a cylinder of linoleum, and roll over the deer, thus avoiding disaster. By now, your squirrel should be done. ...plate on scrap metal and serve with an ironic smile.
